Ultimate senko rod
I use a nrx 803s with a Stradic ci4+,I like it as it has some balls to pull fish away and out of cover as senkos are not always a finesse technique for me.

Reels....do you stick with one brand?
I’m definitely not loyal to brand buying reels. I’ve got lots of abus as I can usually find them at good discounts and they are good reels. I did go and buy a tatula sv and thought it was great and ended up with a few more. I tried the zillion next and was not so impressed just didn’t feel much ahead of the tatula in performance. Saw some good reviews on the Shimano mgl reels so bought a bantam and chronarch. They are spectacular reels, that bantam is the best low pro salmon/steelhead reel I’ve ever found. Next I stepped up and bought an alderbaran to go with and nrx that was a steal of a deal and I love the combo, it’s pretty incredible. If I buy anymore reels soon, I’ll probably stick with Shimano as the curado dc has been calling my name.

Abu Garcia Fantasista Regista Rods
I have the 7’ medium fantanista regista. It’s a great rod, I got it for $200 on close out too. Abu rods get a bad rep sometimes but I have the FR and a couple villian 2.0 that I find to be just fine and do everything I expect them to do. I wouldn’t trade them for any of my Loomis rods though as the blanks just don’t have that same light refined feel

Crankbait Rod for Shallow to Medium
The Kistler crank rip twitch is a great rod for what you need. I use it for all my treble hook baits. Also if you like a bit slower action in the tip the reel ‘n’ feel series are great crankbait Rods too.

Your Ideal Football Jig Rod ?
I have the Loomis imxpro jwr 804c. It’s become my favourite 1/2 jig rod. I do fish jigs on a fairly short line and I like the accuracy of the shorter rod.

Soft Plastic Swimbaits
Me too. I do very well on the Houdini colour. Put them on a 1/8oz swimbait hook and chuck them anywhere a fish may be. A very versatile pond bait.

Not much love for Tatula LT?
I have used mine for a season now on a dropshot rod. It’s not as refined as a higher priced reel but it’s not a higher priced reel. For what it costs, I like the light weight and the matte black finish, I’d recommend it.

Cranking sticks!!!
I have the reel n feel as well. So far it does everything I need it to. Definitely worth checking out.

All - Graphite Crankbait Rod Power / Action Options ?
The medium power and fast action would be your most versatile of the three. When you get up to baits that are 1/2 oz I’d always go for a medium heavy rod though. I have a MH Kistler crank rip twitch model that more than excels in all those baits you mentioned.

Cabela’s Canada had a smoking sale on the NRX 853c so how could I not....

Trout vs bass leader?
I only use tippet material for dryflies as they are nice and limp to create slack in the presentation. Otherwise I stick with seagar red label or maxima for leaders. And definitely pay more attention to diameters than pound test as it varies so much brand to brand.

The winter blues ...
I know exactly what you mean. Our best lakes either freeze or stay really cold during the winter. But being in the pnw (although run sizes and opportunities are diminishing) there is steelhead fishing to fill the time and feed the itch to get out there.

Your Favorite Rod and Reel Brands
I like buying gear so far for rods my favourite is gloomis, I have everything from e6x to nrx. Then I have a few others such as sage gear, Abu, Kistler, St. Croix, and one Edge. Reels I have a bit of everything abus, Shimanos, and Daiwa(I think Daiwa has the lead though). Fly gear is mostly some of everything from sage, Winston, Loomis, echo, Lamson, Ross, nautilus, Abel, and hardy. My favourites being the sage/Loomis/Abel combos.

Bantam MGL Reviews?
I have been using mine as a salmon reel for a few weeks now. Casts extremely easily, lighter weights are no problem and it feels really solid in hand. It’s the first Shimano reel I’ve bought in a 10 years and I’m glad I did.
- What drop shot rod should I get?

Shimano zodius Rods
I have the 610ml casting and the 7m spinning. I love the looks of them and the actions are very versatile but I have no experience with the glass.

I have so much tackle I can't find anything?
Yep, I can relate. I’ve always flyfished so I have that and then there is the gear fishing for salmon and steelhead and now I have added bass fishing to my repitoire. Last I checked, I had 70 rods combined and pretty much a reel for each. I have a lifetime supply of flytying materials and probably enough flies that I’d last if I’d never tied another. Then bass fishing, I’ve discovered, is you can acquire a lot of stuff in a short amount of time(and I have) Good thing I’m already divorced don’t think my wife would have liked our home turning into a Tackle wharehouse.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Picked myself a Kistler 6’9” crank rip twitch today as I figured I needed a new rod jerkbaits and walking baits. Then through some more searching found a great deal on a Tatula sv to pair with it. Can’t wait to get these in the mail later this week. What do you guys think I should spool up the reel with, braid or mono?

Hello from the West
I’ve only been bass fishing for a couple years. But as our westcoast mismanaged steelhead and salmon opportunities dwindle I am fishing more and more for bass. I like all the different ways and techniques that can be used, it keeps it interesting and there is always something new to learn and try. Also I’m getting hooked on all the possibilities in gear available. Probably not the best for my bank account but I do like acquiring gear. I hope to learn lots from the vast knowledge here.
