  1. Junebug with a chartreuse tail. Especially in the summertime, in tannic, stained water.
  2. If you're looking for a budget jerkbait, Academy H2OX Ultimate Jerk Shad. It works. And it's affordable. 'Nuff said.
  3. Doesn't help now, but thanks anyway. The email I used was one provided by my university which was guaranteed in perpetuity as part of my tuition. They just yanked that out from under us alumni with almost no warning, so I cannot change the email without the security question. I'll figure it out eventually.
  4. The email I signed up with is defunct, me over here trying to remember the answer to a 10 year old security question to change it....
  5. I grew up saltwater fishing offshore on boats, it's practically all my family did. These days, I love bank fishing because there's no prep, no boat to lug around, no ramps to deal with, no washing the boat when I'm done, no additional fuel costs, etc. I can just hop in the car and fish for a couple of hours after work. 99% of my fishing now is bank fishing.
  6. You're a braver man than I, but I'd bet you could trigger some big bites in the thick of that. How many jerkbaits it will cost you to get one out, though, I couldn't say. Those H2OX ones haven't let me down. Definitely swap out the hardware on them, though. Also check out any Dick's in your area, I was able to score ~20 Vision 110s for around 9 bucks each between their clearance and their buy 5 get 5 free deal, almost makes me want to step foot in there again (almost).
  7. I had this issue when I first started throwing some baits on straight mono/fluoro. Turns out I just had to tighten my drag way up compared to how I set it for braid, excellent hook penetration after that.
  8. Three have reigned supreme in the last few years. Chatterbait Lipless crankbait Jerkbait
  9. You have wounded me greatly. This was my answer. Caught some schooling jacks on the little greenie sardine one, but nothing on the mullet or pinfish I bought. Very little action in the water, tail thumps but no secondary action at all and they come through the water like a torpedo. They looked good enough to fool me for a few purchases, though. I actually did have a couple of decent days on their prerigged shrimp, but worth the price over a simple DOA? Personally, no.
  10. Some may remember in late 2021 that I was determined to get better at throwing a jerkbait, and declared that 2022 would be the "Year of the Jerkbait" for me, that I would focus on throwing it throughout the entire year and see what I could learn. 2022 was, in fact, the year of the jerkbait for me and produced my 4 biggest bass of the year contributing to a 5 bass total of 45lbs 6oz, two of which I caught in February were my first DDs. 10lb 9oz, caught February 11th 10lb 2oz, caught February 26th out of the same spot on the same bait
  11. My biggest largemouth was also ounces shy of a DD, it just happened to be many ounces shy. 😅 Truly outstanding year, hope to see you achieve those 2025 goals.
  12. BPS Stik-O is the only stick bait I throw anymore, but it's the only BPS thing I use. Outside of that, Academy's H2OX brand is leaps and bounds better than any other house brand I've tried IMO.
  13. Been tinkering with my chatterbait setup for a while now, this is what I've settled on and I'm very happy with it. Rod: 7'2" MH glass Shimano Intenza Reel: Shimano Curado 151 MGL 6:1 Line: 15lb Big Game
  14. Yeah they ended up being about 60% off after the clearance and the additional deal. Those were the only colors they had available, but they'll work just fine. Elegy Bone was one I've had my eye on for a long time now, so it worked out nicely.
  15. Same video popped up in my feed, they look very good. I was tempted to pick some up in 1/2 ounce but I couldn't justify it over the Jackhammers. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts/seeing your success on them, though. Would be interesting to see if these make their way over to the US. Also I lied in my last post, the bait monkey tricked me again today, but I got a good deal out of it. On my way to lunch I stopped into Dick's, not generally a fan of them since they are basically a clothing store now, but I did want to see if they were running their Buy 5 Get 5 free deal and they were. Picked up a mess of Vision 110s and 110 Jrs, a couple of PopMax (blaming @A-Jay for how much he talks it up, fingers crossed I have some success), and a couple of Provokes in the 106 and 97 sizes. All on clearance, and with the B5G5 the Vision 110s came out to 9 bucks each and Jrs were 7.50ish. Color selection left much to be desired but these'll get bit in my waters for sure. All in all retail price + tax wouldv'e been ~460, I walked out with it for 193. It's not buying out the entire Bantam market supply, but I'm happy with that.
  16. I got a discount on it, which helped convince me. The BassPro gift card I'm getting from FWC for that 8lber last week will likely be used to buy another 110, perhaps the Jr. Been curious about them for a long time but the price is hard to swallow given what I've managed to catch on much less expensive alternatives.
  17. Thanks, Mike! Looking forward to your report, fingers crossed for you.
  18. Made good enough decisions to connect with an excellent fish! Nice to see you get a big one
  19. My least favorite position for a hook keeper. I put Fuji EZ Keepers on all of my rids just above the reel these days, they work well and keep the bait/hooks from rubbing the blank as badly as the stock keepers.
  20. I'm torn. On the one hand, I love seeing those big, fat, healthy proportions on a bass. Even when they're small, it just looks right. But on the other hand, a longer fish is probably an older and "bigger" fish in that sense, and probably a bit wiser and trickier to fool.
