  1. Should be good on stick baits for a while.
  2. When I do use straight fluorocarbon on baitcasters I use Sunline Sniper. On spinning reels I only use braid to a leader.
  3. Never heard of this issue with the Chronarchs, but I know the 16 Metaniums have issues with the aluminum gears.
  4. The only difference between the two is the gear ratio. With the 71hg being 7.2:1(28" per turn) and the 71xg being 8.2:1(32" per turn).
  5. On the spool bearings i got for my Curado I last year they were not marked with an abec rating. Though on their sight they claim abec 7 on all their bearings. Performance wise they were ok, but Hedgehog, ZPI, and Bocca are far better for ease of casting and overall distance.
  6. If it were a spinning rod I would be on that deal. Currently looking at another Daiwa Tatula sv tw or another Curado K.
  7. Last few purchases settled the monkey for a while. But now the bait monkey wants a new reel for the Champion.
  8. Some say that the scorpion was smoother and had better spool bearings than the Curado I but the one I handled I could not tell the difference. The casting was also very similar between the two. The only real difference between the Curado I and Scorpion was the Scorpion had 2 more bearings put into the handles.
  9. The 2014 scorpion is just the JDM version of the Curado I that was replaced by the Curado K. I would get the Curado K as it is a newer platform and much smoother under load than the old Curado I.
  10. I use a Dobyns 734 but where you have a lot of grass I would even suggest a 5 power.
  11. Never had it happen but looked into it when I had a few dc reels. The whole DC unit would need to be replaced, if I remember correctly they were about $60-70 for the I-DC 5 system and $50 for the old I-DC 4 system. On an interesting note on the Scorpion DC a little O-ring is all that keeps water out of the hole on the back of the DC unit (don't know if it is same for the curado though)
  12. As already stated Curado or Tatula.
  13. Sorry I didn't realize that. If you can find the Tatula elite 7'3" MH that would be my suggestion then.
  14. https://www.americanlegacyfishing.com/dobyns-sierra-casting-rods.html https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Dobyns_Sierra_Series_Casting_Rods/descpage-SSCC.html ALF has the 734c. As does TW If you want versatility then I would suggest getting the Sierra 734c(more reaction style baits) or the Tatula elite 7'3" MH(more bottom contact baits). Both rods have good enough sensitivity for bottom contact and are responsive but the tatula elite feels a little more sensitive and responsive to me.
  15. I have used and owned a handful of the newer 2018 model and have liked them but I now don't think they are worth full retail price. They do have good-descent sensitivity(depending on model) and they do balance well with a reel on them but there are rods that feel better to me in that price range like the Dobyns Champion and Zodias. I sold all of them except for the two MBR rods I had, witch are some of favorite rods to fish with.
  16. After owning a few DC reels I found that for me they are not the best option because I felt I could get better performance out of a normal breaking system such as SVS or Magforce. Though for beginners who want a casting reel and don't want large learning curve I think it is a great option, and with today's fishing market becoming younger anglers who like tech then it is a neat feature for them. IMO the DC function is not necessary but it is useful and/or neat for some.
  17. Braid-Until low or if any Blemishes (also will use braid on one reel then flip it) Fluorocarbon- Will start with new every season and change when worn or low Mono- Every twoish months during the season
  18. Major Craft in the low end of your budget or the St. Croix Avid in the high end.
  19. Looks like a Chinesium reel. As already stated it looks like a similar reel to the Kast King reels. I personally would not buy it because for just a few bucks more you can get a Fuego or slx witch are proven platforms. But if the kastking type of reels are your cup of tea then this looks like another option for a similar reel. As far as the production goes its probably a phone call or email to china to say what platform you want, how many you want, and what options you want on them.
  20. Caught this one as a by-catch when flyfishing for bluegill.
  21. They are to shim and protect the reel seat. They come with most JDM Shimanos.
  22. P-line Halo and Tactical are my go to fluorocarbons. Also like using halo has leader material.
  23. Love my 2018 models. Balance well and fell good to me. My favorite is the 843c MBR, i have it paired with a 13 Metatium and use it for a little bit of everything. Yes there are more sensitive rods in the price range but the E6X is fairly sensitive. The thing that makes me come back to them is the tapers, they just feel good when casting and fighting fish. So i would say they are worth a shot.
