  1. Yes, sorry meant to say Zillion TWS SV. I know the Zillion SV and Tatula CT share a similar platform so I wonder with the Tatula SV release this year (based on the CT) what the price/sales of either model will be.
  2. Do you think the SV103 will be a mainstay in the lineup after 2017 with the introduction of the SV Tatula CT, Fuego CT, etc.? The Tatula TWS SV is the same price as the SV103. Mine should arrive Monday and if it is that good, I may order another. That platform is a classic frame.
  3. I have one on the way as we speak...not sure with all the new models for 2017 if they will be still produced. That's the OG Zillion and original (but aluminum) TD-Z and Fuego frame too.
  4. Enjoy the magazines. It's always nice to sit down and physically read a magazine. It's unfortunate to think that we are so fast paced to want things now, now, yesterday, that we can't even sit down and read an actual printed copy. I fall into the trap of online reading too, but still buy certain fishing/fly fishing magazines for the mere point of forcing my self to sit down and enjoy. When I was a kid, the Bass Pro Catalog for my dad and I to look through was just as exciting as the JCPenney Christmas Wishbook was for me (and my siblings) for the cool, new toys. Haha...remember those!
  5. I have the Brine and the Jose and have a medium sized head. Most large glasses are a little too big on me. Both of those models are great as are the Fantails. Best of luck with the new sunglasses.

The new Kill'r B2 models (shallow) are really awesome. Colors are nice classic looking ones. The Tennessee Shad is awesome.
  7. Check out the Avid X in that same 69MLXF. Beautiful rod!
  8. Check out the new Shimano Ultegra at Bass Pro. Official release is tomorrow. This reel replaced the Saros and once was only a JDM. It's the step between the NASCI and the Stradic FK. http://www.basspro.com/Shimano-Ultegra-Spinning-Reel/product/175614/
  9. I ended up ordering a SV103 last night since that old TD-Z and original Zillion frame (made in Japan) is a beautiful and classic design. Plus, it is made of aluminum and though the spool is A7075 instead of Duralumin, the difference I heard is barely (if at all) negligible. There are a few guys on another forum that swear by the SV103 comparing it to the old TD-Z reels from 1998-2005 over many newer designs. The new Tatula SV (from what I heard) is going to be called the Signature series (I read) and will probably be released at the Classic. There is also a new aluminum Steez A SV TWS reel which should be awesome! Daiwa really seemed to step up their game in the last few years in the mid priced market, but they have to watch that they don't offer to many similar models/varieties that offset sales of each. If they keep the price points far enough away, every angler will have a good reel that they can step in to and up from in the lineup.
  10. Well said...I was always surprised by their dedication to sponsorship to Quantum from the 80s through the 2000s and then again in the late 2000s/2010s. They (the Lindners) may even frequent this site and read these posts as a member or guest which might give them a good laugh as we jest over why they choose what they choose. I can see Shimano and Daiwa since I feel that their product line generally surpasses other manufacturers but again, that is up to who is paying who and products being brought to market. I get that marketing and promotion of products is important but I think it is interesting that they are now with St. Croix and Daiwa; two very traditional and standard, yet innovative brands.
  11. Can anyone compare the performance of either or both of these reels? I know the T3 was considerably more expensive when it was released about five years ago, but as technology has improved, how does the Tatula CT Type-R compare? Thanks!
  12. Is this a new partnership with Daiwa? Just watching the show today and noticed it. It was using Tatula's on St. Croix Legend Glass rods.
  13. Can anyone give a fair comparison between the Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth 6'9" MLXF (which I have one that I use and one still new with tags/wrapper on cork) and the St. Croix Avid X 6'9" MLXF? How are they similar and how are they different in usage, taper, etc.? As evident from previous forum posts, I am interested in the Avid X and wonder how it differs from the ET Smallmouth series since I am rather familiar with them and they are awesome rods. Thanks and best wishes on the water.
  14. I have an Iovino 2500C in silver that he built me over the summer and it's an awesome reel. Plus he is an awesome guy to deal with. Try him out for a true classic Ambassadeur!
  15. Yes it does...both the NASCI and now the Ultegra seem to take nuances from the Stella. I wonder if this reel will officially be released at the Classic along with the new Chronarch? I really like the color and it will nicely match an Avid X I think.
  16. Is this the same style bail on the NASCI as I am very interested in this (Ultegra) reel? What features add on the extra $40-50? Thanks! I have one on backorder to check out when it arrives.
  17. So while I was just looking on Bass Pro's website, I noticed under "New" spinning reels the Shimano Ultegra ULT2500HGFB which looks like a great reel for $149.99. What upgrades would this offer from the NASCI aside from gear ratio being higher in the 2500. I literally cannot find a thing about this reel anywhere on the Internet aside from older models. Is this a replacement for the Saros? I hope they are nice reels. I tried to order one to get the free one day shipping that ended at noon CST but it said it was backordered. Either way, I will check it out. They also have the new Daiwa Luvias deep and shallow spool models as well. Here is the link to the Ultegra:http://www.basspro.com/Shimano-Ultegra- ... ct/175614/
  18. Never caught a Redear or a Warmouth...here in PA I don't think we have them.
  19. I'm curious to know reviews on this reel. What ratio do you guys use and for what? Do the different retainer colors based on ratios throw off the main colors of the reel or make it looks mismatched? Just how compact is this reel compared to the regular Tatula? Thanks for any and all help and how doe these reels compare to the Shimano Curado 70 among others? Thanks!
  20. Oh I completely know Browns are not native to the Americas. In fact, aside from Germany where they are native, there are distinctive Icelandic populations that have genetic differences from those in mainland Europe that go back close to 11,000 years ago. Browns are a unique and very wary species of trout that are more predacious than other species that are located in the New World (aside from Bull Trout which live in the Rocky Mountain west region in Montana, Idaho, and a few other remote locations). The Browns in the river I fish have been naturally reproducing for many decades, therefore I call them native (or should label as wild) since their entire lives have been spent in the river without being a hatchery fish, their lineage is from wild fish, and their offspring will be wild fish. Thanks!
  21. For about the last ten years before my dad passed away (he was only 63 - May 2015), he had eye issues and his sight was affected by something called Fuch's Dystrophy which basically created a haziness or cloudiness in his vision. He was also too proud to let me help out (and for good reason since he did teach me everything I know about fishing) and it frustrated me to the point that we would often bicker over me helping him since I could just tie the knot and we could be back to fishing. While he sometimes let me help, he did often resort to using snap clips and did also let me tie knots for him when he needed. Not too long before he passed, he had cornea transplants which did help. I sure miss him and I would give anything to tell him today I would gladly help him out tying knots and clipping swivels! Enjoy your time on the water with your dad!
  22. While I have grown up bass fishing for both large and smallmouth bass being mentored by my dad until his passing and still keeping his memory alive every time I am on the water, I also have taken a fond interest into catching multi species through a variety of techniques. In particular, the last five years I have spent gaining a true love for fly fishing. In some cases, I would prefer the quiet and the challenge to bass fishing. What I love the most though (outside of bass) are catching wild trout. There are a few streams near me with wild and beautiful brook trout, but also a few rivers that produce true monster native brown trout. My biggest so far has been just under 23" and was caught using a fly during the early summer. I have caught many others in the 17"- just about 20" range and to be honest, that is a rather common size in this river. Whether is be fly, or spinning, fishing this river (which my dad also tried for trout with me right before he passed) holds a special place in my heart. It's close to where I grew up, almost all the brown trout are native (in almost all sections I fish) and there are rumors of native browns being caught upwards of 30". I also love simple dock fishing for panfish and ice fishing for whatever takes the bait (either tip-up or jigging rod). Because I tend to like new things, I also try to fish and catch as many new species as I can and try new waterways to target fish species that are new to me. No one fishing experience is the same and that's part of what I love. So to you, what are you favorite multi species fish to catch and why? Thanks for sharing...
  23. Ahhh the Stogie! Very cool reel indeed!
  24. This was the reel body: https://www.amazon.com/Sougayilang-Spinning-Bearings-Freshwater-Saltwater/dp/B01GA0UVDE With a somewhat crooked Stradic Ci4+ 3000 FA size spool on it (only the 2013/2014 model). It was crazy. I have pictures of it that I can probably post later. Thanks!
  25. Yes and I have thought the opposite too...what if one was to buy a Berkley Crappie series in 10' or 11' and drift fish for steelhead? Riversider makes a nice and affordable 10' steelhead rod that would be a great panfish rod for like $39.99 at Gander. By far, the nicest steelhead rod I have seen in person is the St. Croix Wild River 106ML which is rated down to 1/8 and has a great action. I was able to check it out in Cabela's the other day. To me, it would be perfect for steelhead in PA and NY and would even serve as a great rod to wade fish for American Shad in the Delaware (which I do with a longer noodle style rod).
