Okay...thanks! For its age I think it looks great. I might even use it just to say I caught a fish on a reel thats over 20 years older than me. I am sure the cranking power is awesome. Maybe I'll put 14-20lb. test on the reel and use it for big baits! It would be cool to put it to good use while not harming its value.

Grooved side plates are what I meant to say...sorry. The frame is original and Abu 6000 models before 1964 did not have date codes stamped them. I will post pictures if I can for better assessment. Thank you!

Hi everyone, I am looking to find the worth of a reel that I recently acquired. The reel is an Abu Ambassadeur 6000 reel with the following features: Beveled red side plates, no date stamped on reel foot, oil port on handle, black spool with red trim, pearl handle with counterbalance weight, four screws on side plate, flat edge screws, and a red five point star drag. I think this reel from what I am reading was made between 1959 and 1961. It came with a brown leather reel case with what looks like a brass closure. It has a manual for Ambassadeur 5000 and 6000 in it but it is creased and has some crumbled edges. It has a vile of spare parts, brake blocks, etc. that has a "6000" on the red cap, a small tube of oil and a small wrench. The reel is almost totally flawless cosmetically and works perfectly. Any idea on what this would be worth from a collector's standpoint would be great. Thanks so much and best wishes on the water!

I just picked up what is apparently a new very old stock Fenwick HMG Iron Hawk Graphite pistol grip rod to match up with an Iovino Abu 4500CI that is coming in the mail. The rod is a 557 model and is 5'6" of retro coolness...LOL. It's rated for 3/8 - 1 1/4oz. lures and all guides are perfect, the original sticker is still on the reel seat. The blank is sort of a brown burgundy color with gold and orange lettering regarding HMG. The handle is contoured and rubberized like alligator skin with a gold accent band where the rubber meets the graphite/plastic section of the reel seat. Any idea if this is worth anything? To me, it just seems like a cool rod for topwater and spinnerbaits. Retro for sure and something my dad would have used years ago. I paid an even $20. Did I overpay or find a good deal? Like I posted earlier, I wonder how the 2016 version will be compared to the current model. The 2016 looks more like an FK with red and black trim added to it.

My old one I returned because the bail would not fully engage every 20th cast or so. It got annoying and for the price of the reel, I did't want that to continue to happen. I may get a new model when they come out if they are nice.

I scored an online deal recently too...Nanofil 4lb. test spool mismarked for $1 with free shipping. Still does not beat my Daiwa T3 that I bought mismarked brand new at $70 or my Orvis Access fly reel for $15.50 mismarked at BPS! Congrats on your find and catch some fish on that line!

I recently was given a NIB Abu Ambassadeur XLT Plus. This is the black reel with the old Abu logo that looks similar to the 521 series. This reel has the separating levelwind that reconnects on the retrieve after the cast. What could a new one be worth? It looks like it is from the early/mid 1980s. Thanks for any help.

I picked up a casting model Mitchell Fulcrum Rod at a Flea Market over the weekend for get this...$8...haha! It has a split grip with EVA and looks really nice. When did these rods come out? What is this rod worth? It looks great with all guides in good shape, foam in good shape, clean, etc. Thanks.

Anyone own Costa 400 or 580 Green Mirror lenses? If so, how does the amber base of the 400 compare to the copper base of the 580? I know both are expensive but thought I would ask for responses from those that use one or both. Thanks.

Costa Del Mar Rincon White with WAVE 580 Green Mirror lenses. Apparently, they are his signature glasses if you do a search on them. I like them in a black frame if I was to choose. White is too surfer here in PA for me.

Isn't it funny that a lot of companies already had a Chartreuse Shad that looks almost exactly like Sexy Shad. For example, go to ***.com and look at any of the color schemes of baits like Lucky Craft and you can see that Sexy Shad really only has a darker back.

Anyone have a Bass Pro Catalog

Tonight I received a call (they apparently called last night but I was not home) from a person claiming to be from Bassmaster and wanted to know if I was receiving my magazine on time. They also stated that they wanted to keep the price of the magazine low and offerred me a deal. They said they needed to verify my address and I would be getting a call in the next few minutes to do so. I declined to that as I was on my way out and they asked if they could call back tomorrow. When I hung up, I checked the caller ID and it said blocked/unknown and I even tried *69 with no avail. I then went on bassmaster.com and called them...but their business hours ended at 6pm I believe. I got my call at 8:01pm. Did anyone else get a call like this and what/how do I approach this situation if they call again? I am not going to give out my address or other info but found it wierd that a telemarketer or anyone would call about my bassmaster subscription. Thanks for any info or help.

Just wondering what type of polarized glasses all of you out there are using. What frame do you have? What lens color? What brand? etc. I am thinking of getting a pair of Costa Del Mar Brine sunglasses, but also am looking at Native, Smith, and Bolle glasses. Maybe even Oakley's too. Any and all input would be great. Does anyone own Costa Del Mar Brine sunglasses who could offer some feedback? I am looking at getting the Gunmetal colored frame with the Green Mirror/Amber WAVE 400 lenses. These will mostly be used for everyday uses but more importantly, fishing the clear waters around here and in the 1000 Islands/Finger Lakes regions of New York. Any input would be great. Thanks.
