  1. I've complicated my fishing by buying two colors of worms instead of the one I've been using for the past 15 years. Yes I'm serious.
  2. Was in Basspro Sunday just nosing around and needed another locator for a new, to me, boat. Saw a Lowrance Elite FS 10 Fish Finder/Chartplotter with TotalScan Transducer under $1000. Went home and researched it, went online and bought one.
  3. Bought new, thanks for the help.
  4. I went to buy a newer boat recently and my wife said why settle buy what you want. She doesn't buy tackle for me but encourages all of my purchases.
  5. Just spent $1100 @ Basspro and $110 helps plus the product was on sale.
  6. If all you want is surface temperature a lazer gun is the way to go.
  7. How about this one caught this morning with my grandson.
  8. Where do you look for fish finders that people get rid of to get the latest and greatest? I bought another boat without a console locater and am looking to buy a 9" for it. Don't much care about the brand as long as it the features I need. The boat came with a 7" Lowrance Hook on the front which is the same one I've been using for years and love. My old 9" Humminbird 998 isn't going back on the new boat although it still works OK. Title should be OLD ELECTRONICS.
  9. That would be too rough for me in a boat no less a kayak. Good fish even though you were expecting more.
  10. My buddy took me fishing several times in the past couple of weeks and we've been catching some good fish mostly on worms lately. Water temperature is 60 early going up to 62 in late afternoon. We both remember when a poor fishing day would be less than 30 fish, 15 years ago, and today a good day is 20 but size is larger.
  11. "Face the future proud and unafraid". Just go out and fish. We made a trip a few years ago from GA to ME, took a kayak and camped and fished in many states. All the lakes and a few rivers were new to me. Caught many fish and had a ball. I was 80 at the time.
  12. Is the inside of the spool rubbing on the housing, main shaft bent?
  13. Sand the metal washers on a piece of crocus cloth on a piece of glass to make sure they're flat and smooth. Sand in a figure eight pattern.
  14. After being a camera repair tech for 9 years fishing reels are a piece of cake.
  15. Last week my buddy was crushing Alabama Bass with a Spro Rock Crawler so I had to buy one. With the water dropping 5* since last week it might not work. Also bought some chartruse J and Js Magic. The last hard bait I bought was a Rogue Jerkbait several years ago.
  16. But still catching some nice Alabamas. Water temp dropped to 60 from 65 last week. My buddy got a couple of different locators and was fooling with those so I got to throw where I wanted. I caught 3 before he picked up a rod. We teamed up on the largest when his reel stem broke and I handlined the fish in. Although we tried top water later all fish were caught on worms in shallow water.
  17. Are you sure you don't have it backwards? Usually the heavier baits are deeper running. IMO medium running is 4-8'.
  18. Georgia has a couple of award catagories. Bass Slam and big fish awards. There are 10 species of bass in Georgia but only 8 are counted, Alabama and Spotted bass plus LM and Florida Bass are counted combined. If you catch 5 or more species you get a Bass Slam certificate, decals of the fish you catch, tickets for Go Fish Center in Perry and a chance for a grand prize. Big Fish Awards come with a certificate, T-shirt and a personalized cap.
  19. I first fished a worm in Lake Castaic and bought 4" straight worms from a custom pourer in Burbank.
  20. I wear my inflatable anytime I'm on a dock or a boat. Check by using the manual inflation tube and keeping the cartridge up to date. I fell out of the boat a couple of months ago and it worked.
  21. Be careful using a buffing wheel or wire brush. A buddy put a saltwater jig hook through his nose with one.
  22. There are some of us that go fishing several times a week, like I used to do, and catch 1-3 fish each time. IMO a report that tells this doesn't help except to tell people you're a lousy fisherman.
  23. For hull cleaning check this out. Don't forget the trailer bearings. Jack up a wheel and spin it, it has to be dead silent.
  24. One can't have too many boats. I'll be more stable than your canoe and safer. The only drawback I can see is you'll be lower and can't see as much if you can't stand in it.
