  1. Oooh I love my ultralight setups including @bulldog1935’s Tica Cetus on my 5’-6” BPS Bionic Blade rod😃
  2. I hope this doesn’t come across as rude but the OP clearly stated his dad doesn’t like the Aird-X reel seat yet there are multiple posts telling him about the Aird-X🤔
  3. @redmeansdistortion I really enjoy the project reels you and @bulldog1935 share on here along with everyone else but the round reels you 2 in particular share are really amazing.
  4. Although not a big brand following on here I couldn’t resist this Favorite Soleus shipped to my door for just under $70.00 I found when I was shopping an e-Bay store pricing a lawnmower bag. As a bonus when the wife saw the charge on the credit card she replied with Happy Fathers day as well, the only thing that scared me was the description was perfect condition 6.3:1 no box and it was shipped in a box with the minimum amount of packing peanuts to get it here but it’s perfect as described. My only other issue is it’s a 7 speed which I already have not a 6 speed but I’m happy nonetheless.
  5. I stopped by my local retention pond after seeing the bluegill moved into the shallow weed infested waters but they must be spawning as when I approached they were completely moved out with zero activity in the weeds. I tried my favorite almost guaranteed fish catching combo a 1/16 oz jig head and 1” gulp alive minnow under a slip bobber but the bluegill were more interested in nudging the bobber and or attacking the strings I didn’t trim on my bobber stop. I managed one in the hour I was there.
  6. I have the previous version Tatula Ct (black & red) and I think it’s an excellent reel, I did handle the new version (black & gunmetal blue) but ultimately wound up with a Tatula 100 previous version but for $99.00 I personally say go for it.
  7. @Functional I’m looking at the 13 fishing site currently for something else and came across this combo which you can get an additional 15% off by signing up for their e-mails. It would have helped if I captured the price of $69.99 before the 15% off.
  8. Although I’m no business man and I don’t understand the reasoning behind it I will admit I’ve benefited as far as I’m concerned by buying my 2 Dream Tackle reels😃
  9. Ok so although I don’t own this rod I’m pretty sure a handful of others on here do which led me to the search feature which led me to a few responses 😉 Hoping this helps.
  10. @Functional I’m going to parrot my friend @bulldog1935 in saying I’m definitely a fan of 13 fishing gear. Although I currently only have a spinning reel and a Fate Black spinning rod from them I’m currently looking at and even started a post about their newest offering the “Oath” line of rods. I will also add I’m a budget type of person with quite a bit of my fishing gear and really enjoy the 2 Lews Carbon Fire and 1 Hank Parker rod I’ve purchased a handful of years ago with the only difference as far as I know being the place of sale and the Carbon Fire sporting Wynn grips vs the Hank Parker having cork. With that said I would still buy the 13 fishing defy gold before the Lews as I just personally feel it’s a wee bit better. I currently don’t own anything from Ark but @T-Billy certainly likes the ones he’s purchased and with the quality of fish he shares I would definitely listen to his advice as well if he chimes in. Happy shopping and keep us posted as to the purchase and your dad’s thoughts if you don’t mind.

You should call Danner directly. They are super pleasant and extremely knowledgeable about their products and although expensive I cannot stress enough how pleased I am with my Quarry work boots. When I spoke with them about the changes made to the Pronghorn hunting boots they were very patient and even offered to let me return them but in the end I kept them and although I probably wouldn’t buy that particular boot again I cannot express how pleased I was dealing with them on both purchases and having a Resole done which they first declined but after talking to them they agreed to do the work.
  13. @Jig Rookie I am down in New Lenox and if I’m not mistaken you are a bit North of me. I’ve been slowly hitting my favorite small retention pond for the last few weeks including yesterday but I feel the water temperature just isn’t warming up as much as I thought it would have even though the weeds are telling me otherwise. I’m curious how the water temperature is in your area?
  14. What they said ⬆️
  15. May God bless that man and keep him safe.
  16. @CaughtMeABiggun I’m not sure if you’re interested in buying a Dream Tackle Design reel but Amazon is showing both 7 & 8 speeds in stock for right hand and the 8 speed in both right and left hand along with the 8 speed bfs in right hand only for $129.00
  17. I definitely have to try Obernaufs.

Danner definitely has a good selection of boots seemingly specific for military/public service personnel which makes me want to support them even more. I too used quite a bit of Sno-Seal back in the day, that stuff was great on smooth leather.
  19. After reading this article all I can say is that was one tough son of a gun while also being humble. God bless his soul.🙏
  20. I’ll start by saying if @Glenn or another moderator feels this can be added to @Mobasser’s post feel free to do so. So I’m interested in knowing what everyone else’s routine is as far as products? My current routine is at least every 3-4 weeks depending on condition of my boots I wash them with Dawn dish soap followed by a liberal application of Red Wing “All natural leather conditioner” or Danner water proofing spray on my suede work boots.

My absolute favorite pair of boots for the last 15 or more years come from Danner, in fact I’m currently wearing a 3 going on 4 year old pair of Quarry 2.0’s. They aren’t cheap but they are assembled in the USA and can be serviced from a simple Resole which I did or can be completely rebuilt. They also offer 100% made in America boots and in my opinion are the best made boots I’ve found in wearing work boots for over 30 years now. I started with Danner wearing their Pronghorn hunting boots in both residential framing and then working for a large commercial construction company building high rises in Chicago and although I own a pair of the new version of Pronghorn boots I’m extremely happy I’ve found the Quarry line of work boots. I will add I’m currently working for a concrete company which if anyone knows what that’s like they know it’s tough on footwear.
  22. Although I don’t necessarily have a favorite and like many on here I own a few different brands one thing I can say is I really like my rods especially spinning to have an enclosed locking nut or a reel nut that tightens from the bottom as the way I hold my spinning rods I rub the locking nut threads on my finger. If forced into one brand for me it would be Okuma as I feel they’re well made for the price point.
  23. I’m really enjoying everybody’s response to this thread and especially those with experience of the 13 fishing rods in particular. I will say I’m glad I canceled the order for the defy black but haven’t a chance to seek out the Oath crankbait rods. @JHoss I’m not sure if you’re referring to the new Carbonlite 2.0 technique specific rods or not but would like to know, @PhishLI thanks for chiming in and I’m glad to read your 13 fishing rods held up so well and I’m of the mindset that as long as it doesn’t break within the first season through no fault of my own at $99.00 I’m okay with replacing it with or without a warranty. I hope I didn’t just jinx myself as I’m all over the place with my rod brands and have only used a warranty claim once from St Croix due to my own stupidity and their generosity even knowing it was my fault such as @bulldog1935 was saying about his 13 fishing experience. Speaking of bulldog I’ve shared with him my liking of the only 13 fishing rod I currently own which is a Fate Black spinning rod that I can’t fault in any way. I also can’t fault the only 13 fishing reel I own which is a Creed spinning reel that I bought on clearance a few years ago. I’m definitely going to grab one of the Oath crankbait rods I’m just not sure when.
