  1. Before you start to think about money you should think about the size of the water that you will be fishing. You may only need a jon but then again you may need a big boat. Start there then decide what you want on the boat. That should lead you to a more informative idea of what and how much.
  2. It won't go away here unless the MDC bans it state wide. Until then I'll be using it occasionally when it works.
  3. I run the Seard Die Hard agm as a cranker and Optimas on the Tmotor.
  4. I like to clean mine at the lake in the parking lot and leave the carcuses behind for the catfish so I use a cordless electric. I have gone through a few over the last 20 years and now have the Rapala Ion with the lithium battery. I have used it for over a year and cleaned several hundred crappie, white bass and walleye with it. It is pricey but so are most of out fishing related toys. As far as wasting meat, I can get as much with this knife as I can my old Rapala which I carry as a backup.
  5. I use snap ring pliers.
  6. You have been given some good advice. Infinite variable is the only way to go for maximum boat control. If your battery were only a year old it probably would be fine. When you get batteries look at the reserve capacity. 180+ will run all day long and leave you with plenty of power at the end of the day. If money is an issue, get a portable charger to use on the cranker because if you don't run a lot of accessories it shouldn't need to be charger a lot or real often.
  7. Thanks for the ideas. I'm planning on trying them out this evening. I have probably 60 targets in mind and usually 20-30 of them have fish so I should be able to experiment and see what works. Here are some of the things I plan to try.
  8. Nice video Mike. Where was it taken?
  9. Look at tackleunderground for the soft plastic cook book. There are lots of recipes there. Copy the ones you want to your clipboard and transfer them to your own microsoft word folder. That way you can have what you want and access it any time or print it out and have it in your shop.
  10. I've been catching several bass on spinnerbaits lately but missing several also. I don't use a trailer and have put trailer hooks on to see it that helped. It didn't. Last time out I caught some under the "chin". That makes me think that they are hitting the blades. I'm not quite sure what to do about it. I'm going back this afternoon and may try some dull colored blades and see if that helps. Any other ideas?
  11. Yes it does work. I have had one on my TE 82 for a couple of years. Just takes a minor adjustment to keep the torque out at high speed. It makes for a lot easier handling when it gets really windy and I have to run on high.
  12. I have a couple of Low HDS units that have sonar, down and side scans. I use the side scan to locate structure and cover and mark it with wpts. I use down scan when I am fishing. It shows the fish and brush a lot better than 2 d sonar. Here are a few pics of down scan.
  13. Go over to tackle underground. Lots of guys on that site are small business men selling various baits. Do some research and you may have all of your questions answered.
  14. Yes there would be a big difference. I have never seen a size 3 hook but I sometimes use a #8 or #4 for crappie. The largest number with out the /0 is the smallest hook. The /0 sizes go from 1/0 to very large with 1/0 being the smallest of that series.
  15. I make all of my molds from Bondo fiberglass resin.
  16. There are lots of good batteries out there. What you need to look for is reserve amps or reserve capacity. Get at least 180 and 200 if you can find them. I've used lots of brands and had good luck with most.
  17. Check out the Pop Snagger. I have one and it cuts braid, cleans hook eyes, threads hooks, sharpens hooks.
  18. A mod would have to delete the other post. The only place that I can think of is the Navionics site. Look at the list of map cards that they offer and see if any of them are compatible with your unit.
  19. I hate braid with any treble hooks, especially when the wind is blowing.
  20. Wow that was some hit. I know how you feel as I have been down that same rocky road. When you have it repaired talk to the tech about internal damage that may have occurred like prop shaft, gears etc. One of my buds had to replace the entire lower unit not just the housing.
  21. I have never had braid twist. Tell more about your setup and the baits that you are using.
  22. I have been told that is hormones. Actively feeding fish have more color than the ones just hanging out.
