  1. Oh believe me he's not poor, him and his wife always leave in a nice car. It's not a hunger thing, he's just bored with himself and doesn't know how we do things in America. I've already seen one lake get overfished by foreigners keeping way more than the legal limit. Especially with Trout. If I'm approached again by this man and there's a good chance I will be because he's a vulture, I'm calling the police and taking pictures of the fish in his bag to report to fish and game.
  2. It's apart of multiple public park ponds that has trails and it spans into a huge creek system, he's an old man that looks seemingly innocent who walks with a cane, but trying to ****** a 2lb fish out of my hands was beyond stupid. I've spoken to the Wildlife officials who work there and apparently i'm not the only one who's complained, him and his wife like to walk the trails and ask the trout anglers in creeks for fish. He has no intention of fishing or even cares, he's just looking for handouts.
  3. Drop shot is my kryptonite, I can't catch a fish on one except little bluegills pecking at it, one of my 2021 goals is to finally catch one on a drop shot. The Ned rig on the other hand is my baby and I love her ❤❤
  4. So this is a rather interesting story. Yesterday me and my good friend were fishing at one of our spots, bite was slow but we managed to get a couple bass on the ned rig, biggest being 2.3lbs. So everything is going fine right, then all of a sudden this older russian guy comes along and starts harassing us for fish, he talks to us in his native tounge and we don't understand him, he'll usually point at himself and try to ask us for fish. We say stuff like "what?" Because we don't speak his language. Everytime I fish at this pond he is always walking around with a cane and a bag looking for handouts from anglers, these other eastern european folks who fish here always give him shiners and bluegill to keep, i've seen this guy leave some days with bags filled with shiners bluegill and baby crappie. That's not the worst part of this story, I had to literally almost fight this guy away from taking this beautiful 2.3lber I caught yesterday. As I was taking the hook out he came up and started asking me to give him the fish in his native tounge, me being the idiot I am I tried explaining to him the water is treated with chemicals and the fish aren't safe to eat. (either way I was not going to give a 2lb bass to anyone. I firmly believe in catch and release and hate the idea of people eating bass, you have your opinion on it.. I have mine) Anyway so after trying to explain to him about the water and the chemicals I tried to walk away with the bass to release and get pics but this stubborn old man yelled at me in his tounge and tried grabbing the bass! By the grace of god another fella was there I guess a family member or something and took him away and he started yelling at the old guy in his tounge. This altercation could've went a different way if this man had not intervened. If I'm bothered by this guy again I'm calling the police. I'm not gonna be harassed on the water. There's a game and wildlife office in the park and the sheriff constantly patrol it. Here's the fish this guy tried robbing from me...
  5. Finally got on some fish! Crankbaits and jigs have been doing the job lately!
  6. Don't trailers like that make for a faster fall rate? I always thought having your tails flap and go crazy impacts the weight of the fall by 50%?
  7. My water temps are at 63 degrees right now, when would you recommend to start changing out to subtle trailers?
  8. With the falling temps I've been having a blast fishing jigs, my favorite so far being the Terminator Pro series casting jigs and the boss football jigs. My trailer of choice has been the Strike King Rage Menance, while I've gotten results with this I feel like there's better options on the table with trailers than can provide more thump and action in the heavily stained water I fish. What trailers would you guys recommend?
  9. So I lost a jig fish today for the first time... hooked onto a solid 2lber and he shook it right at the bank, the fish hit it on the fall and I tried to set the hook as hard as I could, can anyone give some tips on how to improve hook up ratio with jigs? Should I spread the weedguard out or just pray that the fish doesn't jump lol, anyone struggle with losing fish on jigs?
  10. So at my lake the bluegill are very light in color for some reason, I'm guessing this is because of the low visibility from algae blooms, the other day I caught some of these little guys to get a better look at the color on them, all the same pretty much. Would using bluegill colored lures work in this situation? Do the bass even see the bluegill? Or do they feed on them via lateral line? Should I continue to use darker colors to stand out or try to find colors that look like these bluegill?
  11. You don't throw Green pumpkin when it's sunny?
  12. My ponds are loaded with fish in the 14inch range like this one, average fish usually weighs over a 1lb, definitely at least over 200+ fish in the ponds plus any fish fry from the spawn means there's a big supply of baitfish and fresh water fed from creeks.
  13. The title really says it all, This question always intrigued me, so far this year at both my ponds near me I've caught fish in the triple digits of various sizes. these ponds aren't very big. Maybe a bit bigger than 2 acres probably 1 and 1/2 if we want to be conservative, Now both these ponds are Creek fed and have fountains in the middle, there's a big population of baitfish (shiners alewifes bluegill) in there which I'm guessing the bass keep in check. Do the bass breed like crazy in ponds or am I just catching the same fish over and over lol.
  14. 2020 isn't showing any mercy to you poor folks down there in the Gulf Coast. Please stay safe Tom!
  15. Awesome thanks do you know what sizes do the Rapala Husky jerks use? I have a three trebel size firetiger pattern I have to replace hooks on aswell because pike kept attacking them this spring lol. Could be a discontinued pattern?
  16. I currently have size 4 on it I use for my squarebills, the ones on it originally were smaller and round bend.
  17. Found it on the ground the other day at my lake, hooks were rusted beyond belief and I temporarily replaced them with some KVD elites, what would be some good hooks to actually replace it with?
  18. Happy ending to this thread, finally caught some fish and managed to use my new scale for once.
  19. When the sun keeps coming in and out of clouds on the water do you guys worry about your colors for soft plastics? This might sound like a stupid question but it's always intrigued me... Let's say I'm fishing a lake with a moderate stain in the water, it's sunny out and I start with a green pumpkin color, next thing you know clouds come over and the sun pops in and out occasionally but remains hidden by the clouds. Would this count as low light conditions? Would I change out to a darker color like black n blue or just keep fishing green pumpkin? I'm sorry if the question is rather confusing but it's always intrigued me.
  20. Last bass I got last Tuesday, bite has been dead since.
  21. We have a big population of golden shiners in a lot of lakes and many people like throwing gold colors or shiner patterns. Some lakes have gizzard shad including Lake Hopatcong but I wouldn't know what patterns to throw in there.
  22. Brutal fishing the last two weeks. Currently on a 3 day skunk streak, taking a break for a couple days to recharge. I fish pressured public park ponds but usually do pretty well, we got heavy rain last tuesday here in NJ and the runoff and nutrients ended up in the ponds and now there's an algae bloom in most of em, air temps are struggling to make 70 degrees right now, been throwing the kitchen sink at em but they won't bite anything including anything finesse. Welcome to club struggle my friend.
  23. Yes, I learned that the bass are the pickiest creatures on this earth and nobody can predict them. Also practiced my pitching game and realized that the bass fishing will eventually pick up soon. They gotta eat eventually.
