The Louisiana gulf coast could be hit by hurricane Delta on Friday still cleaning up after the last storm.

Hurricane Delta shares many similarities to Hurricane Wilma which I lived though in 2005. It rained so much that in many places you could not tell where the canals where since the water flooded over the roads. Both hurricanes grew rapidly and both where very powerful hurricanes. Hopefully Hurricane Delta decreases in strength and we don't have any more hurricanes this year. I know California is having massive wildfires (first ''gigafire'' in modern history in Northern California) at this moment in time so there is bad weather on both sides of the coast. 

2020 isn't showing any mercy to you poor folks down there in the Gulf Coast.

And to add to south Florida's post, the snakes and gators plus the other swamp creatures start to look for dry land or someplace safe and houses and sheds are on their list.

 

So you have the wind and water, no power, flooded streets and highways in addition to the swamp critters.

 

 

As of 2 hrs ago the National Hurricane Center has Delta at 85 mph, a Cat 1. There's plenty models showing it not getting above a Cat 2 or 3 by landfall somewhere close to 80 miles east of me.

 

I'll stay home if it's a Cat 3 or less ?

Too bad we can’t re direct all that moisture to the west.

I remember that as well. This has been the most active year of hurricanes in recorded history and hurricane season does not end until at least November 30. At this moment in time it appears that Hurricane Delta might hit Texas and Louisiana. The path can always change and let's hope the hurricane gets weaker.

The mountains usually do a good job at weakening any storm so you guys might just get a lot of rain. It is better than having to deal with +100 mph winds.

There are no mountains between here and the gulf, just forest, delta and swamp.

Memphis is far enough inland that youll be fine. By then it will be a depression and winds around 20-30 mph. Power outage due to downed trees are more of an issue. If you were in Louisiana, then I would be running for the hills lol. 

It looks (knock on wood) that we will get some rain and maybe some gusty winds up to 25 in the Houston area. So far we’ve been lucky. Much luckier than Louisiana. 

The outer bands arrived yesterday. It's hard to believe how big a hurricane system really is.

Remnants of the eye are targeted at Memphis on some models and expected to hit midday 

Saturday.  The forecast calls for heavy rain, flash flooding, 40 mph wind and the possibility

for tornadoes.

 

Delta is expected hear around 1 PM & should fine by dark thirty. With the projected cone Lake Charles is on the outer western edge.

Next week I'll be staying at a resort at Lake of the Ozarks called Breezy Point . If the storm gets that far north I'll sit under a fake palm tree and drink beer .

That’s never a bad idea at any time!

Delta starting to become a half-cane as dry air eats away at the south side of the circulation. Dry air and shear starting to win, weakening storms at landfall many times don’t produce those intense wind gusts. Good news but still a tough hit for SW LA considering the situation.

We are forecasted to have a medium drizzle with a maybe breeze 

Power out in the whole  neighborhood now!
