  1. Exactly... haha d**n auto correct You and the others are correct. I think I am going to look into upgrading my rod and keep my little president. I do really enjoy it. The rod is a 2 piece but I think if I go with a 6 6 or 6 8 I can get a 1 piece that will fit fine in my car. I also have a President XT that is slightly larger on a M St Croix Triumph. Its a great combo. Ill check out those rods thanks!
  2. Hello, Edit, corrected rod size and added reel size So I love my finesse set up. It's a 6 6 L pflueger (put 6 10 ML by mistake) president combo I got a few years back. Reel is a 25x However since I throw finesse the majority of the time from the bank I was thinking about upgrading. I'm just not sure to go with a new rod or reel first. I'd love to get both but I want to get a stradic ci4+ fb. Going to try and find one used to save a few bucks. Starting thinking if maybe I should upgrade the rod first since sensitivity when finesse fishing is most important. Anyone have any recommendations to upgrade rod or reel now and the ladder next year or over winter? Also any suggestions for a new combo? Would like to keep the combo under $275. Going trybmt best to get stradic for 175 leaving 100 for rod. But I'm happy to be convinced otherwise. Thanks!
  3. Haha you are welcome I go my first couple boxes, doesn't few hours flipping old boxes into them and wow. They are worth every penny. Lighter, fit more and just overall better. Cant beat the price too. I even cut and sanded down my bass mafia tungsten coffin to fit.
  4. Dicks has Plano Edge on sale for around 25-30% off and on top of that have Buy 1 get 1 50% off. Can get 2 3700 boxes for $27.35. Few others like the terminal tackle there as well. No thin 3700 though...
  5. 10% off with Active Junky? What's that?
  6. d**n that sucks, but understandable
  7. Looks like a ton of stuff at Dicks is buy 6 get 2 free. Basically 25% off https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/f/fishing-lure-deals?pageNumber=0
  8. Hello Looking to pick up a versatile casting rod for bank fishing. I will be tossing 5/16-1/2 oz jigs primarily, small swimbaits, some topwater. The 6 8 MH is rated at 3/8 - 1oz where 6 10 M is 1/4-3/4 oz. Little confused they are both under 7' when looking at so many rods lately. Also the Medium being up to 3/4oz. Thoughts or help is appreciated.
  9. Thank you, that is great advice. I have a Cabelas close by so I can go feel a lot of them in my hands. I know there is a lot of personal preference, however for someone new to Baitcasting should I be looking for something like the DC series, also are there other companies like the Daiwa Tatula series that has a similar system for those new to baitcasting?
  10. Hello, I posted a little while back about getting a baitcasting set up, got some great advice. Well I was very fortunate and traded some stuff for a custom made rod (just got it). Asked for it to be more versatile as I am a bank fisherman. I plan on using it for Jigs, underspins, paddle tails, light cranks and some light top water It is 7’ rated for 3/8oz – 3/4 oz. So now I need a good reel to pair with it, and my price point was anywhere from $150 - $200 now for the reel only. I know there are some solid black Friday deals upcoming (think Tackle Warehouse is usually 20% off) so I wanted to be prepared for that. I was looking into the Shimano SLX DC as the DC feature is rather appealing being new to baitcasting. What would you recommend based on everything I list, happy to give additional info as well. Thanks!
  11. Hahaha nonit says Book, it's a family nickname. Lighting makes it hard to see the K correctly
  12. Update rod is here http://imgur.com/gallery/yUCFIjz Loomis GLX blank ( asked if it was a GL3 based on the matte black finish but assured me it is a GLX old stock he had) with a Black Walnut Handle, and N Guides (he said he prefers these) 7' rated fe 3/8-3/4oz. Overall I'm rather happy with my trade. Let me know what you think
  13. Yes I agree and normally I would not be looking into a custom rod. However since I will not be paying cash and it will be a trade I thought it would be a good decision. That is why I reached out for some advice on what to look for or get.
  14. Thanks I mentioned at the bottom looking to toss smaller jigs, spinning baits, under spins, maybe some light topwater like 75 WP. Being a bank fisherman I can only carry 2-3 poles so I have my finesse and a littler larger setup. So I was hoping to make this as versatile as possible for several situations. the 7' 2" or 7' 4" Fast seems to make the most sense though based on some feedback. Thanks for the input on the wood handles I'll have to look into them more
  15. Hello, I made a post yesterday about getting a baitcasting set up for $200-$250. Thank you for some great suggestions. Well I am selling some custom lure building materials and was offered a trade for a custom built rod. The builder told me he was willing to trade $325 custom rod build for my $250 in custom lure supplies trade (the stuff im selling is worth around $400 retail) Now I am very new to custom rods. he is giving me a call today to discus but was hoping to get some insight there first. I have only been seriously bass fishing for about 2 years so I am not sure the specs I should go with to get the most use from this rod. I am definitely going baitcasting since I have several nice spinning rods. This is the information I currently have - I build custom wood handled rods (greater sensitivity) I would be willing to offer $325 in custom built rods They would be made to your specs. length, action, lure weight, ect. I use G-Loomis, ST.Croix, Fenwick, MHX, and custom blanks I have 7 hardwoods for handles 90+ colors of thread for custom wraps all components are Fuji I can build spinning, casting, ICEFISHING or fly I can email pics of past work for you to see I was thinking of going with 7' 6" Med or MH rod Fast Action. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. As I posted before I would love to use this as a versatile rod since I bank fish and cannot bring a lot of rods with me. Looking to do some jigging, spinning baits, maybe some light top water, those kinds of things. Does anyone have any insight on what "Blank" would be best or how that works? Any other custom rod builders out there? Thank you!
  16. Hello, I have been using Spinning set ups for years and love them but have wanted to get into the baitcasting game as well to be more versatile. Some background I am 30 and from DE, I also only bank fish. That is why I am looking for something more versatile. I currently have a fantastic finesse spinning set up as well as a larger spinning set up that I am using for everything else. I want to get a decent baitcasting set up that I can use for jigs, spinning baits, some lighter cranks and squarebills. I do not fish frogs very often, and the occasional whopper plopper, but only the 75 version. With bank fishing I am looking for something I can use in a bunch of situations because I can only carry up to 3 rods or it becomes too much of a hassle. I am looking to spend about $200-$250 for this combo. I wanted to give myself a little higher budget because I want a decent reel so I do not get frustrated by the backlashing being newer to them. I would appreciate some advice on some combos that would fit my budget. I currently have a 7' 6" baitcasting rod from my dad (he got it pretty cheap at a yardsale). It is a Fenwick Eagle GT, it collapses to about 5ft. Not sure if I should go more expensive reel and use this until I save some more for a better rod or not. With the winter right around the corner, and Black Friday not too far off I figured I would get some advice and do my research now so I can pull the trigger when I find a solid deal. But happy to do it much sooner if it makes sense. Looking forward to the advice. Thanks!
  17. Title, but going up for vacation, go every year and love every second. will be doing some dock fishing (got my PD last year this way with Senko) and out on a Kayak. Any advice on what tackle I should look to stock up on for my trip? Will be on the north side on and in Moultonborough Bay area. Thanks in advance!
