Thanks everyone for your responses! Makes me feel a little better on a purchase I didn't really need.

Didn't need but the price seemed good. I bought a G. Loomis IMX-PRO 802C TWR (I'd rate a 9.8/10) and a JDM Metanium HG (I'd rate a 9/10) for $ 280.00 $ 200.00 for the rod and $ 80.00 for the reel.

@waymont, I did get it. I bought it off of FB Marketplace for $200.00. It's in LN condition. I also bought a JDM Metanium that I'd rate a 8/10 for $ 80.00 from the same guy.

What SC rod is comparable to the G. Loomis IMX-PRO 802 C TWR rod?

@gimruis, when I was in Canada a number of years ago native guides called northerns Jack Fish. I had never heard that one. @A-Jay and @T-Billy, those are some very nice fish!

I caught these two beauties on a #3 Mepp's bucktail with a silver blade and black skirt.

I was alternate species fishing (I was in a small tournament) and caught these two beauties. They looked bigger in real life. Caught on Lake Namakagon located near Cable, WI. last week.

Good to hear SC took care of you!!!! I've been a user/fan of their rods for over 20 years. I was just by their place last week on my way to musky fish on Lake Namakagon in Cable, WI. Unfortunately, it was after 5 PM and their store was closed. Probably saved me $$ that I would have spent if they were open.

Yes, I meant heavy. I'm a Shimano guy and normally use a 2500 Stradic or Vanford on my bass spinning rods but since this rod is a MH I wasn't sure if a 2500 Stradic was adequate.

My friend gave me a SC TBS 71 MHF spinning rod and I wanted to know what size reel would be appropriate for it. Is a 2500 too small??? He had a Daiwa BG 3000 attached to it but that seemed a little large for me.

What braid would you recommend for this set up? I'm thinking 20 lb. Power Pro Super Slick 8 V2 or Suffix 832? The rod/reel will be used in a lake where I could catch a bass or a muskie.

Sad to hear the problems people are having. I've owned 40-50 SC rods over the last twenty years and have only had one break. I do agree since COVID their CS is hard to deal with. I do hope they are able to turn things around. I like buying American made rods and enjoy visiting their factory annually.

Does anyone know why SC discontinued the Avid-X? I'm guessing it was to replace the Victory line but wasn't sure.

I did have a camera for this but only took a picture of the results not the action. My friend and I were fishing on Lost Lake in St. Germain, WI a number of years ago in the late fall. We were using smaller sucker minnows because that's all Ray's Landing had that day. He notices his bobber go under and sets the hook. Initially he thought he caught a big walleye but as the fish got closer to the boat it was a large musky. I netted the musky and we noticed it had a 12" northern in it's mouth. My friend had initially caught the northern and the musky grabbed onto the little pike and would not let go.

I'm from north central AR (Mtn.View) originally. Both sides of my family came from the UK (Wales and England) in the late 1700's. They arrives in VA and then migrated to TN and then AR. Both sides of the family fought for the CSA. Funny many folks from AR can trace their lineage back very far!

Twenty-five years ago I used to get excited about going to Cabela's. I really liked their name branded items for the money. Now the Cabela's near me should just really change the name on the store to BPS. To me Cabela's was like shopping at Target and BPS is like Walmart.

It seems like every time I have one of my spinning reels line replaced that after a few cast I will get a glob of it come of the spool and have to cut it all off. Is this because too much line is being put on the spool???
