St. Croix Victory rod question
My experiences with SC - CS have been very positive. I broke a Mojo Bass casting rod a few weeks ago and upgraded to a SC Avid-X. Should have the new rod sometime in July. Not too worried about delivery as I have others to use BUT was very pleased with the process.

Recommendations for an affordable quality spinning reel for braid $70 to $130
I would recommend the Shimano Nasci for the price range you are looking at. I have the Shimano 2500 Nasci, 3000 Daiwa BG and 2500 Fuego but prefer the Nasci. The BG is built like a tank but to me is too heavy for all day casting (to be fair my BG is a 3000 which is larger) and it's not as smooth as the Nasci. I have been one of the unlucky ones that has had issues with my Fuego so I wouldn't recommend it (I know others will disagree but basing this on my experience).

What does everyone do for a living?
I've been in the environmental remediation field for over 30 years now. Not the booming business it once was. Only 56 but already looking forward to retirement.

If you could have only one rod and reel
I was in this position for many years. A 6'10" St. Croix MXF AVID spinning rod with a 2500 Shimano Stradic reel. I fished with this outfit for many years and never felt like I was missing anything.

Cottonwood seeds
I like to use spinners for bass and it gets caught in my line and interferes with casting.

Leaving fishing gear in hot boat
I wondered about the heat and could it cause damage to my rods so I called St. Croix and they said no. For you bowhunters out there heat IS bad for your bows though.

How I relax on the bank after a good day of bassing
I occasionally enjoy a nice stogie after fishing too!

Cottonwood seeds
Here in N. IL. the cottonwood tree seeds are really starting to be a pain in the tail. Are they an issue all over? I fish braid so perhaps that is worse that mono but trying to clean it off your line stinks.

The striped bass/white bass are really starting to bite well here in N. IL. The only problem is getting the cottonwood trees seeds caught in your line and constantly having to remove them.

Fishing Alone
I'm like many others. I enjoy fishing alone just for the peace and to clear my head. However, if I'm musky fishing I really enjoy/need a partner!

They are excellent eating but when they get big I release them hoping they can spread their genetics. I'm more of a catch and release guy anyway.

I know it's not a bass but this almost 14" crappie was a PR. It was flopping around so it was hard to get an accurate measure. I think if I has a board it would have been an honest14" but I was happy anyway.

High End Spinning Rod
Always been happy with my SC LE's.

Cancelled the Daiwa Fuego 2500. I need a good lightweight spinning reel for the victory 610MLXF
Mine was putting line behind the spool on the reel sometimes.

What advantage(s) does a spinning rod have over a bc rod?
I fish mainly in IL and WI. With the exception of musky fishing, the majority of people I see fishing are all using spinning reels.

Castable fishing locators
Thanks everyone for your responses. I'm still on the fence about the purchase at this point.

Castable fishing locators
@slonezp, I planned on putting it on a pike rod with 80# PP.

@J Francho, any model you would recommend?

Castable fishing locators
Have any of you used the Garmin Striker Cast or Deeper Start fish Finder? Lately I've been doing a lot of bank fishing and was wondering if one of these would be helpful or just another gimic.

$150 Zebco combo!
After a flue shot my Dad got GBS and had to learn how to walk and use his hands again. He never regained the dexterity to use a spinning rell so I bought him a Zebco Omega Pro several years ago and he really liked it.

Actual good finds at pawnshops/thrift stores?
I bought a LNIB Daiwa 2500 Fuego LT for $ 50.00 at a local pawn store. Thought that was a decent buy.
