I have started to chill out and really enjoy the end of the day evening hours on the bank by sittin in my chair and crappie fishing with a bobber. I am usually out wading throwing different lures, stepping on or over large rocks crawling over half sunken trees, grabbing my wind blown line out of tree limbs, always thinking about what lure to throw next and how to work it thinking back to things i have read on this forum.

 

When i am convinced the bass bite is over i walk back over the sunken trees and rubble and step back onto the bank, take off my waders and sit in my folding chair and pick up my $15.00 crappie combo, throw on a lighted or not bobber with a gulp minnow and toss it out 15 feet from me and stare at the bobber, the surrounding landscape, the burnt orange sky, watching a beaver and muskrat swim by like they know me and we mean no harm to each other, hearing the howls of the cayote and listening to the loons, the loons and the sounds they make are like music signaling the end of the crappie bite and time to roll it all up and head home.

Cool, Fishing sounds like a good way to unwind after a good evening of fishing. Really though sounds fantastic. 

Only a true fisherman would unwind after a day of fishing by...  doing some more fishing!  ?

I'm jealous of having good crappie fishing from the bank! I would love to do this but ive struggled for years trying to catch crappie consistently from the bank. 

I like breaking out the big rods and lobbing out a half pound chunk of cutbait of 6" long live green sunfish for big catfish for some relaxing fishing. Relaxing until one shows up anyways. 

I like to end a trip on the bank or boat with a nice stogie and enjoy the scenery and reflect on life's mysteries...

I get the exact same excitement watching that bobber bounce around and go under as feeling the thump on my senko and setting the hook.

I've started taking my 3yo son fishing with me, which is a lot of fun. I've found that when he is off chasing frogs or playing I find myself putting down my pole and holding his 3ft tiger pole watching the bobber for little blue gills. As much as the thump of a bass on a jig gets my heart going there is something calming and enjoyable in watching that bobber go under even knowing it is the same cookie cutter fish. 

I hate watching a bobber with a passion. Inevitably something will pull it under and I miss the fish. Take the bobber off and the fish is as good as hooked, darndest thing I’ve ever seen 

Sometimes, one of the best parts of fishing isn't really the fishing. It's stopping to look around and enjoying the amazing places fishing brings you.

I often will sit on my tailgate have a big bottle of ice water and take it all in. Then when I get home its off to the patio with a beer or nice glass of whiskey with 2 rocks...or both if I'm celebrating a really good outing!

Most of my bank fishing trips end either with a fast drive home to shower and check for ticks or a drive to whatever bbq/greasy spoon restaurant that I have picked for my post-fishing reward/consolation prize. 

 

I don't always pick my spot for the day based on food, but it's always at least a tie-breaker.

I occasionally enjoy a nice stogie after fishing too!

After fishing I'll usually just go home, especially if my parents have to pick me up, but I'll also switch to UL fishing for Panfish from time to time.
