Sentimental rods/reels?
I bought a SC Mojo Bass 71 MHF rod earlier this year that Cabela's was clearing out for the new model thinking I would let friends borrow it. I used it this fall with a Metanium on a multi species fishing trip and caught a decent musky and 15 20-24" northern. Now I know it didn't have anything to do with the rod and reel but I'm keeping both because I think they're lucky.

Daiwa is simply smoother than Shimano now
That right thar is funny!

I think ABU does like to troll. Look at some of his other posts wanting to pit Daiwa against Shimano.

Need a new rod
I have recently bought a number of SC rods(and have 15 older SC rods) and don't really believe all the haters on them snapping, just saying.

Uh oh, broke an old spinning rod...
@PaulVE64, I enjoyed watching that video you attached. Reminds me of my time in ON back in '07.

Shimano 150 SLXA vs Daiwa Tatula CT
Forgive me if this has been beat to death but which is the "better" reel for an "all around" BC? The SLXA is $ 99.00 which the price is nice but is the CT worth the extra $ 50.00?

Need advice - Have a MH 71 BC rod and want to buy another versatile BC rod
Guys, like my subject says, I already own a 71MHF BC rod and want to buy another versatile rod. I tend to throw a lot of bucktail/lighter baits so I am thinking of maybe a MF 70 rod. Thoughts????

Any other musky fisherman?
My old boss loved fishing The Greater St. Germain Musky Tournament held the first weekend in October in St. Germain, WI. He introduced me to it in about 2002 and I've been hooked ever since. I now belong to a local fishing club here in Rockford, IL and we have out own little tournament on Lake Namakagon in Cable, WI the second weekend in October. We all stay at the Lakewood's Resort and have a good time fish or not.

Any other musky fisherman?
I've enjoyed musky fishing in N. WI for the past 25 years. Only caught one decent one in all that time, however, I usually only go 3-4 days a year in early October. I fish primarily in the St. Germain and Cable area of WI.

Fishing alone
Depends who I'm fishing with. I'll be 60 next month and sadly have lost three of my favorite fishing partners. I joined a local musky fishing club but haven't connected with anyone. I actually enjoy fishing at least one day by myself prior to our little tournament.

Fishing reels
I agree with the others regarding the Stradic. Been using a Stradic since 2000 the FG model I believe. Can't be beat!

Advice needed
@FishTank, yes I will be using a leader. Although I'm bass fishing up there I never know what is going to go after my bait. I caught my largest musky bass fishing using a #3 mepps bucktail. I looked at my Zodias and it's actually 72M. It's the A model not the B.

Advice needed
I'm going bass fishing in N. WI early next month and I'm having a hard time deciding what rod/reel combo to use for a variety of lures. I have a G. Loomis IMX-PRO 802 C TWR with a Metanium XG or a Shimano Zodias 70 MF with a Curado XG 70. I'll be throwing small spinner lures and wacky rigs.. What would you choose?

Fishing reels
You didn't mention your budget. In the < $ 100.00 range I like the Sahara, in the $ 100-150 range I like the Miravel or Nasci and in the $ 200 + range the tried and true Stradic or Vanford.

Should I use a leader with braid?
This topic get discussed a great deal and I do not know if there is a correct answer. I tried both ways and can't say either way if I missed or caught fish because of it. Currently I just fish straight braid.

Thoughts for a versatile spinning rod?
The most versatile spinning rod IMO is something in the 6'6"-7'0" range Medium power Fast tip. I like SC rods but there are so many other name brands to choose from also.

Cabin or Cottage? WI people I need your input
@J._Bricker, we discussed purchasing a camper too but thought in the long run we would enjoy the home and land. Nice looking camper! @DaubsNU1, We had a similar discussion about "what if it becomes too much for us to take care of" especially as we age. We decided we would sell if or leave it to the kids if they wanted it.

Cabin or Cottage? WI people I need your input
@Choporoz, understood. So many of my friends have places in the N. Woods (St. Germain, Minocqua, Eagle River, etc...) and you're right it is just too far for a weekend. I love the Northwoods ambiance but my Wife and I are still working and we were concerned the place wouldn't get used enough to justify the $$.

Cabin or Cottage? WI people I need your input
@J._Bricker, thank you for the kind comments. We are literally walking distance to Arkdale Lake and a 15 minute drive to Castlerock and Petenwell Lakes (WI's # 2 and #4 largest lakes). @Choporoz, we are about 30 minutes N of the Dells so if we want the "silliness" of the Dells we can visit or if we have guests that want to go to the Dells we're close enough. We wanted something not too far from our home so that we would use it. I live in N. IL and the Cabin is only 2 hrs. and 20 minutes doorstep to doorstep.

Cabin or Cottage? WI people I need your input
@gimruis, I agree with you. My Wife believes that since it isn't a "log style" home and that it doesn't site on a lake that it isn't a cabin. I know it's a silly thing but I was wondering what others would call it or what they call their own. Just a fun topic.....hopefully.
