  1. Maybe I am not saying it right. I mean the reeling handle on the right side. I cast with my left. So I was just wondering if there was any benefit to casting with my right hand.
  2. I have yet to not listen to music while fishing. But I see your point. Its is 8am and im heading out to the lake. I am going to try no music today and see how it goes!
  3. How many techniques did you learn when you 1st began bass fishing? I mean really get into the nitty gritty of it all and feel quite proficient before moving on to new techniques. What techniques were the ones you learned?
  4. So I was wondering what the thoughts are about music while bass fishing. I understand they can feel vibration with the lateral lines. But can they hear? Any issues with ear buds? If so any issues with just one earbud in so I can hear both my surroundings and my music? Probably rudimentary but I am curious on the different thoughts on this. If you do listen to music what is your favorite bass fishing music. I have to say mine is Floyd, Zeplin or doors type music. Thanks.
  5. I am asking about baitcasters. I was just giving an example of how I already know reeling with my left hand doesnt feel correct to me. Sorry for the confusion.
  6. What is really interesting about this is my very 1st spinning rod hand a handle I could swap from left to right. I do not feel right reeling in with my left hand. There are very few things in life this is the case for with me but there are a couple. Reeling with my right hand feel natural to me.
  7. I know it seems elementary to you. But I just started fishing this year. I have never used a baitcaster. Most of the videos I have seen the guys Express the importance of switching hands fast. So before I buy a reel I figured I would get some insight. I cast with my left with my spinning reel as well. My right hand just doesnt work like that lol
  8. As the title states im a lefty. I am looking at baitcasting reels and wonder if I will still need to switch hands considering I cast with my left hand. Thanks for any insight.
  9. Thats kinda how I felt about it. But I went with a popper and caught my 1st fish. Im not giving up on the frog. It seems like a fun way to fish. And yea if they are blowing up on it im doing something right! Right? Lol
  10. Ah I didnt know that there was a war on bass out here. Regardless im not removing anything. Once I realized they were asking me to remove exactly what I go there to fish for I kind of laughed a bit at myself.
  11. Welp. I just looked up black bass and I appreciate you guys not flamig me for this thread. Have a wonderful day.
  12. Id prefer just to learn to use mine. But thank you for the kind offer.
  13. Well I just started fishing this year. For me a month of stuff learned would break the forum. So I will just stick to today. Lol 1) I learned my med heavy spinner set up with 50lb braid is the wrong setup for ned rigs ? 2) I learn that poppers with treble hooks are great in open water over structure below 3) I learned that poppers with treble hooks can dredge a lake if you are willing to be stupid! 4) Subsequently I also learned how to pitch with a long rod and spinning gear. Its not easy. 5) I learned I have not a clue what I am doing with a spinner bait. 6) I learned that I really dont know where the bass go when it gets super hot out. I dont know the depth of this lake. So I dont know it actually goes deep enough to give them a reprieve from the heat. I found the only shaddy area of the entire lake and that is where I was catching fish. 7) I learned I need to get up earlier. it is 104 degrees today. I got there way to late around 11am. And stayed until 3:30. It was hot af.
  14. Thats valuable.... I didnt even think to think of it. I will call tomorrow morning thank you.
  15. Today I went back out to attempt to catch my 1st fish (which was successful btw) but when I pulled into the place to do the 2 mile hike to the lake the park ranger asked me to keep any black bass I catch. I asked her if it was an invasive species and she just looked at me with all seriousness and said yes. They need to go. Babies, full grown it doesnt matter get them out of there. So what is the deal with black bass? Why so bad? Can I target only black bass to help? If so how? Keep in mind im very new to this. Thanks.
  16. The moment I find a place near me like that I will be there lol
  17. I listened to your advise. After doing hours of research last night I bought a popper. Wasnt the exact one you reccomended ( walmart didnt have it). I bought this and caught this fish because of it. You are directly responsible for the 1st fish I have ever caught. Thank you.
  18. Understood. So lat night I went doen a top water rabbit hole on youtube. Today I went and grabbed this spook popper. And subsequently caught this fish. Between the info given here and the research done last night I caught my 1st fish! Small mouth. Im happier that you could believe! Thank you.

  20. Hello all. I was wondering if there are any clubs in my local vicinity. I am new to this however I am an extremely fast learner. A clean slate to mold into a bass slayer. I am in the Bay Area. Northern California Fairfield vicinity. I am 41 I do not have a boat however I am willing to split costs when ever it is needed. If someone who does this well lives in this general area and is willing to help a guy out that would be swell as well. I really just want to learn. Have a great day folks.
  21. I just assume I swing hard. I dont actually know as I have yet to hook a fish. But I will be letting you guys know when I do!
  22. Any issue with my taking the skirt off my current buzz bait and adding a toad trailer?
  23. I am always so concerned if I set the hook hard I might snap the line lower that 10lb lol. Im a big guy.
  24. Yes. Abu garcia low profile 7.1.1 it was about $50. All I could afford for a second rod.
  25. Med heavy rod 7 foot 3 inch spinner reel 6.1.1 50 lb braid. Sec setup med light 6 foot 10 baitcaster low profile 7.1.1 ratio. 12 lb flouro. Understood. I began casting right to the middle lol. After doing about 50 hrs of research on where the bass actually are I realized I was going about it all wrong. Last 2 times out I have targeted the correct spots and gotten bites but no hook ups. Im sure that is due to inexperience. Will be going to Walmart tomorrow to get set up for ned rigs. My local shop doesnt wven know what they are. Lol. As for giving up. Thats just not how im wired. Sadly I have gone out about 20 times with zero catches. Now its a vendetta between me and the fish.
