  1. What I have found is that a spinner is great when it is windy. 2 reasons I use a spinner 1: I throw along the bank hitting rocks on the way back to me. Mini spinners are freaking deadly used like this. Mini spinners also come through basically everything and if fouled you can snap your rod tip and it generally clears it. 2: As a search bait from the bank. You can cover alot of water quickly while also gaining attention with the thump of the blades and the flash.
  2. Soft plastics seem to hate me. I have yet to catch anything on any type of soft plastic outside of a trailer on a jig or a chatterbait. Please help me get better with these soft plastics. Weightless or weighted it hasnt mattered. I need some advise please.
  3. I fished off a fishing dock which was well lit on the boat launch area during the night fishing I did. Saftey is always my #1 concern especially when im alone. I did learn that night fishing is not exactly my favorite lol. I wouldnt mind it with a couple of buddies but it just felt odd to be alone in the dark not being able to see what is exactly going on.
  4. Cant say that I have. Closest to this for me is bloodworms on a hook as a kid. But that was 35 years ago.
  5. Yea after making this thread my budget dropped by $90. My buddy showed me his lews mach2 baitcaster and I went and bought one and some flouro. On sale but yea. Its now $60 lol
  6. Man I wish I could bring her. But I bring the other one often. But not this time. This time is all me time. Lol She doesnt mind me fishing. But we love to spend time together. Sometimes she will come and read a book. But as we all know time limits while fishing are infuriating. If she is there there will be a time limit. I dont like to take time away from my family to fish. I fit fishing in when I have time. Which I have alot of. I just dont get alot of 12 hour days of fishing. More like 3-6. And if she is with me. Like 2-3.
  7. Make some recommendations please but also explain why you are making that recommendation. Thanks
  8. Frogs are loads of fun. Being a new frog addict also means you had better get addicted to getting up at 4am
  9. Hes a basshole cant expect anything less. I havent fished in florida however the 5lber I caught this summer didnt pull any drag from my spinning set up. I have had my drag pulled by me when a bass has me wrapped around a laydown. He was fairly lazy though. One jump to try try to get away then he just accepted it. This is in northern California btw.
  10. My wife is going to reno NV for a couple of days with her best friend. This leaves me to take care of my 15 year old dog with CHF. I must stay in our area to give proper medicine at the proper times. It also opens up 3 days of fishing for me excluding the need to run home and give meds. This will be my 1st chance at night fishing. Im excited for this as I have never done it. Il be fishing from the bank. And il be non stop fishing for 3 wonderful days. Im freakin excited! Edit: She knows it too. Lmao
  11. I can tell you right now they make a world of difference. In fact they saved me from washing my hands with a jellyfish in the delta. They increase your view in astonishing ways.
  12. Northern California here and the transition has begun here as well. It exciting!
  13. If you can find even a tiny clear spot in the mess the bait fish generally can get through to it. A pair of polorized glasses will certainly help in this situation as well.
  14. That honestly is fairly close to the color of many worms. I can see why it would work. This is also very helpful in understanding why that pink worm would work well. How animals visually perceive the environment is key to understanding important ecological behaviors, such as predation, foraging, and mating. This study focuses on the visual system properties and visual perception of color in the largemouth bass Micropterus salmoides. This study (1) documents the number and spectral sensitivity of photoreceptors, (2) uses these parameters to model visual perception, and (3) tests the model of color perception using a behavioral assay. Bass possess single cone cells maximally sensitive at 535 nm, twin cone cells maximally sensitive at 614 nm, and rod cells maximally sensitive at 528 nm. A simple model of visual perception predicted that bass should not be able to discern between chartreuse yellow and white nor between green and blue. In contrast, bass should be able to discern red from all achromatic (i.e., gray scale) stimuli. These predictions were partially upheld in behavioral trials. In behavioral trials, bass were first trained to recognize a target color to receive a food reward, and then tested on their ability to differentiate between their target color and a color similar in brightness. Bass trained to red and green could easily discern their training color from all other colors for target colors that were similar in brightness (white and black, respectively). This study shows that bass possess dichromatic vision and do use chromatic (i.e., color) cues in making visual-based decisions.
  15. I take it you cant see the bait fish either. Maybe throw some small pieces of bread at the edge of the bank and take note to the bait fish that come to eat it. Then at least you will know what the main forages are in the pond. Then try to match it.
  16. 3.8 and just got 5.8 today. Looking forward to throwing that on a 1/2 oz jig head tomorrow.
  17. What about just the gps and depth finder info? Forget the charts personally made for a moment. Would you allow your depth finder to share depth info?
  18. So basically I am wondering if there is a app or a site for us to upload our GPS/depth finder results to. I am noticing there are many unfinished maps. Most dont show structure and many are missing depth in key areas. If there is none if I created an app that we could all download our finding to would you use it? Would you upload your charts? Would you use this if others uploaded there charts? Im thinking of a piece it together thing like a jigsaw puzzle. The great thing about something like this is it never really dies. Structures change, water levels change, and erosion takes place. It would always be a work in progress for us to help all of us.
  19. The way I post pictures that are to large is I take a screenshot of the picture then crop it. It works every time for me. Congrats on the PB!
  20. This is correct. It was a nice day out there. Only me and the wife. No oje else was where we were at all. It was basically a ghost town.
  21. I second this. Its a d**n fish magnet. Can be fished slow or fast. At least you can stop yourself from being bored with a jig.
