  1. What kind of casting equipment are you using. I have found that soft entry is a whole lot easier with a bait caster that a spinning setup for me. Not to say it isnt possible with spinning gear but feathering the spool while it is coming down is a big part of the magic. That isnt as easy to do with spinning gear.
  2. Heading out again today. Its only 45 mins away from me. Im gonna make it happen today!
  3. I have zero advise about lake tahoe specifically and more of advice in general. If there is a body of water you can catch bass in bring your stuff with you. Thats all the advise I can offer.
  4. Well aware lol. Im just getting my fishing stuff together so I can hide it during the divorce lmao.
  5. Thanks! So last night I ordered the lews mach crush. And just ordered this as well. Lol screw it. You only live once right?
  6. This is what im now considering. What sre your thoughrs for a beginner? Same queation fo the forum.
  7. As the title states I have $150 to spend on a baitcasting combo. Im looking for something 7 feet long, medium heavy, fast tip and sensitive. I fish from the bank so casting distance comes into play as well. Please help me narrow down the option out there. For a newer fisherman it is very overwhelming. Thanks in advance.
  8. Id suggest putting him on a dropshot on a spinning rod. Its easy to cast or just vertical fish, and not much goes into creating the action required to get a bite. Just my opinion.
  9. I think he thinks you broke the connection from the dial to the magnetic plate. Which would not allow you to control the strength of the brake. Sounds like you are now looking at the actual magnet which is essentially the actual brake.
  10. As Advertised. I was striper fishing today in the delta of northern California. The popper came back with this.... At 1st I thought did a fish sneeze on my hook? But upon closer inspection I saw it had veins. Once I got it off the hook it began trying to swim. Fairly weird day of fishing for me.
  11. Here ya go bud. People arent fond of clicking links.
  12. Personally the more lures the merrier for me Why not both? This is also the exact reason I have blown my fishing budget by double. Dont listen to me. Il just cost you money.

I have found that throwing my frog onto the actual bank and twitching it into the water gets bites. Seems to me it is as natural of a presentation as you can get with it. You dont need vegetation to fish a frog. You just need a frog and a willing fish.
  14. Brand new still but so far I have to say a jig has been the lure I use the most in different ways. Drag, hop, swim, let sit still, with a trailer without a trailer, bladed or non, sometimes a swimbait trailer and other times a chunk or a craw type trailer. It can be used so many dang ways. Im sure I will find other lures are easier as I move along but for now this is my thing.
  15. All lakes around me will be basically off limits due to traffic. So it will be a backyard BBQ with friends and family and fishing Tuesday.
  16. Yea taking big bass. Sadly. Its a thing here in northern California. I couldnt agree more with you btw. Its stupid.
  17. I agree with this statement however in a pond at least here in northern California the bass are the apex predators. So how exactly does taking a chance to eat come into play here? I think if they get hungry they hunt. With zero concerns for other predators. Its why many people will take a big bass out of the water here. It apparently allows the other smaller ones to feed and grow larger. Personally I wont take them. But many do for this purpose. Knowing this information we know even less about what fired up even means. Will they compete for food? Sure. Will they continue having a feeding frenzy after one fish strikes? Im not really sure that is the case.
  18. So basically a stinkbait ball is what i am imagining
  19. I think I used a bad word for #3 lol. All I was thinking was a couple of worms thrown in the water to bring them in. I think people think I want to massacre something. Thats not the case. Lol
  20. Some solid trivia points here. I assume they feel it an invasive species in japan I take it?
  21. Great question. I would assume a handful of worms or frozen anchovies in a nylon. I didnt really consider how to go about it much. More of a has anyone tried type of thing.
  22. I understand there are old threads about such things however this is a forum as well as a library. Updated info is always good stuff imho. Thank you for your feed back on the snap. Il take a closer look at those particular ones.
  23. Hey all. Im back with some questions that many will find rudimentary, puzzling or downright silly but I need to know your thoughs. Question 1 Do you believe bass are line shy Question 2 Snap swivels for quick change of lures? Personally I havent out of fear of losing a fish. But I want to know your thoughts. Question 3 I am just curious if anyone has tried chumming the water to draw bass to you then slipping a lure into the mix to catch them..... Edit Question 4 What exactly do you do with a trophy bass? Say I caught a 20lbs behemoth. Is there someone I would call to confirm the weight? The measurements? Just put it back? Have it mounted? I have gone back and fourth on how stupid I am willing to look to have these questions answered.... Apparently im willing to go down for the answer. Thanks guys and remember be kind to your fellow fisherman. Some day they might have to save you from drowning.
