A little of topic but did this legend by chance share with you his eight lure fishing system? I’m curious.

A good rule of thumb is to make it the same length as your rod, that will usually place the knot just off your reel.

Love that rod! I also throw spinnerbaits as well as chatter baits, swimjigs (light wire), spooks ploppers, cranks and jerks with it, underrated rod imo, very versatile.

Any recommendations on a tight wiggling crank? Shad rap surely, but would like something that'll cast well on a baitcast outfit.

I fish very weedy midwestern lakes and the swimjig is my go-to, followed closely by the money minnow swimbait rigged on an owner beast hook .

I use a dobyns 705cb. Some may think it’s too light but I exclusively use strike kings kvd’s with light wire hooks. My hook up ratio went through the roof as soon as I made the change to this rod due to the forgiving tip. The lakes I fish have very light cover though.

I use a st croix legend extreme 7’11” heavy/mod-fast (lxc711hmf) to toss 1 oz whopper ploppers a country mile, it’s pricey but quite versatile to boot. I also use it for light swimbaits, carolina rigging, frogging, and heavy jigs.
