Swimbait help
The jighead size that will be “best” for a set of given conditions will vary. Get yourself a variety from 1/8 to 3/8oz and that should cover most situations you’ll encounter for smallish paddle tails. There is no single correct answer, the most productive size can change day to day and even hour to hour.

Soft Stick Bait Set Up For Shaky Head ?
It’s not my main way of fishing them but I caught some fish last spring on the zman power finesse head and zinkerz, was surprised at the high hookup rate, I would’ve kept fishing them but the lakes I fish grow thick vegetation by late spring. For all jigworm & shakey worming I use a gloomis nrx 852s, it’s a 7’1” medium power extra fast, 10# power pro to 8# leader, daiwa tatula lt 3000.

Any good "do it all" jigs you can recommend?
Most reccos for a do it all jig will be an arkie style. I’ve settled on northlands jungle jig myself, I’m not sure it can do it all but it does work great for me as a flipping & pitching jig around cover of all sorts and makes a decent swimjig too which is all I need from a jig

Zoom fluke questions
That would suffice, especially with braid. An extra fast would be slightly better, and a medium heavy better yet, but thats just like my opinion man. Just fish it a while and you’ll find your preference.

Extra Deep Cranking Rod
I resurrected this thread only ask about the taper on the 765. I don’t throw deep cranks but would use this rod to throw smaller hard swimbaits in the .5 to 1.5oz range, If it has the same taper as the 795 this is likely the rod I’m looking for, if it’s more of a true fast action then it’s not. I’m not going to waste Gary’s time, I’m just putting together a budget and shopping list for next spring.

Extra Deep Cranking Rod
Does the 7'6" mh have the same mod-fast taper as the 795 swimbait rod?

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Welp, I'm screwed. I've acquired swimbait fever from mr monkey. I reached full fever pitch a few weeks a go when I purchased a toxic baits wake n crank for more than I spent on my last rod purchase. I was starting to feel better then out of the blue a flash fever struck and I now have a 6 inch triple trout enroute. Please send help.

Anyone use both L-R handed casting reels ?
I use a left handed reel but I cast with left hand too and then switch the rod to my right hand just to mess with peoples heads

2-Piece Swimbait Rod Suggestions
That’s a tall order, a rod that can comfortably toss a 4 ounce lure is likely not going load well on an under two ounce lure. I have a 2 piece 7’ heavy/fast fish eagle II rod by cabelas that’s rated up to 2.25oz I’ve used for travel, mostly throwing 5 and 6” weedless and exposed paddle tails, obviously not going to handle 3-4 ouncers. I don’t think they make these anymore but I just happen to know a guy who’s selling one if it interests you ; )

Unusual preference in a spinnerbait rod?
I have a 7' st croix premier series medium power/fast action that I occasionally use for blades which kind of fits your description. I like the way the rod sort of flings them rather than loading like a proper cranking rod. I don't consider it an unusual preference though, just a preference.

What are some good low profile reels under $140 for swimbaits
So many reports about this, glad i held off on buying one. I wish daiwa would make a tatula in a 300 size, I’d be on that like a monkey on a banana

What are some good low profile reels under $140 for swimbaits
Did daiwa fix the lexa 300 clutch problem? There were a lot of complaints about the clutch engaging mid cast a while back

What are some good low profile reels under $140 for swimbaits
If you’re on the lighter end of baits (<2oz) the daiwa tatula 200 has been working like a champ for me this year.

Ultra light rods and reels for panfishing
The st croix panfish series with fast and extra fast actions on such light blanks with super fast tip recovery is a whole different animal from the moderate ultralight bugwhips of old and fish well out of my yak, I highly recommend them. Don’t mean to sound like a product rep
