  1. I went by Academy today to get a jar of JJs in Methylate and they had 4 packs of spike it markers. It came with blue, fire red, orange, and chart. Picked them up too and I was impressed how well they work. Smell isn't as strong as I thought but the color worked like a charm. I wanted to be different amd customize my soft baits so ita not exactly what the fish see all the time. I picked up this 5 pack of BD hollow bodies for use on an A Rig on clearance from TW. Perch looked closest to a bluegill. But add in the markers and I think it turned out dang good!! Added red on the tail to look like blood too.
  2. Topwater: frog, Berkley Choppo Frog: Booyah Pad crasher and popping pad crasher Squarebill: KVDs or H2O Express Stick bait: Zman Bang Sticks, Zinkerz Craw: Berkley Pitboss, Zoom Z Craw, SK Rage Craw Worm: Berkley power worm Spinnerbait: Wahoo Buzzbait: SK Sugar Buzz Jig: CHATTERBAIT JACKHAMMER!! Ned: Finesse TRD That's about what I use. Have way more than that and stuff ive never even used.
  3. That happened to me and my first Dark Sleeper. Caught a bass, next cast wind busted and backlashed. Picked it out and said it will be fine, casted that dark sleeper to infinity and beyond! Oh the pleasures of flourocarbon
  4. The one time I did good catching smallies was using a red craw pattern squarebill. Banged it off a rip rap bank and any wood i could see and it worked!
  5. I paired the delight with a Zako in Electric Shad and I agree, its probably the best looking bait I have. Catches fish so they agree too!
  6. Ive shared that I'm a US Army vet, iraq 05-06 then 07-08. Just wanted to let everyone know if they ever need someone to vent to, cuss out, cry to, whatever. DM me and I'll gladly talk any time I can. Veteran suicide is not talked about enough. Good thing we all picked the best hobby for letting it all go and enjoying the water.
  7. I have three and haven't paid out of pocket for any haha. Gift cards, christmas stocking stuffer was a fire craw jackhammer, store credit. Got a Bhite Delight, black and blue and of course fire craw. Well worth it to me. They work and can be slow rolled on the bottom and thump away.
  8. Ive read this study as well. Dark no matter color looks dark. Lighter all blends to a lighter color, then red and green stand out. I wonder if that is why baby bass works??? Ive got some green and yellow swimbaits I never throw because they look like a bass, but if they are more distinguished from just shades it might be worth a revisit.
  9. Yeah didn't think about vicinity to other lakes. Hudson is close, Oologah isn't far, Skiatook isnt that far and is a really good smallmouth fishery.
  10. I wish I could launch a kayak on this pond and have a good electronic unit on it to truly see whats under the water. From what ive seen it has the biggest bass out of any urban pond ive fished!
  11. Ive heard people saying it evaporated on them. The jar of spike it I have is two years old and still going. I think I'm going to give JJs a try in red or methylate and get the spike it markers.
  12. My brother in laws aunt and uncle had a place on Grand Lake here in Oklahoma. Close to the water and 2 minute drive to the marina where they kept their boat. They were cruising type folks and not anglers but I would LOVE to retire there. 10 minutes from a decent town and a lake that's hosted the BassMaster Classic its a no brainer for me!
  13. So ive tried to break the pond down from what ive learned here and what I observed fishing it. Im trying to learn where the bass would likely hang out to increase my chances of catching some. Legend: Red=grass line Light blue=shallow Dark blue=deeper Yellow=flat Slope from bank to deepest seems pretty even and gradual. Not sure if its steeper in some areas or There are humps. Just trying to learn to break down bodies of water to see the highest probability of catching. Lures I can figure out and change out but reading the water I'm learning.
  14. Does Lemon Pepper do any good? (Chart and black flake). To me that looks like a color that nothing in the water looks like and to me I would think wouldn't do any good.
  15. My 2021 goals are as follows. Get my jon boat all done and on the water. Get better with the jig. Get better with the A Rig. Catch a 5lber. Would be a new PB. Use the lures I have and quit buying so many that don't get used because I dont fish enough to go through every color and type. FISH MORE!!!
  16. Im northeast oklahoma too. Temp today was 40. Tomorrow is 55. No idea on water temps. On the narrower section I could get my new almost half way across using a 1/16th. Next time I go I think I'm going to use a 1/8th oz to help keep it on the bottom better and change colors. I think I went too light on the color. Loving the Lifted Jigs weedless ned heads i just got. Next time I'll try pulling the A Rig faster and see if i can get a reaction bite. Gonna try a swinghead with a SK Cutr Worm crankbait retrieve too.
  17. So just fish where I can reach and either fish slow on the bottom or with a jerkbait with real long pauses?
  18. Went to a fairly large pond today. Big enough where I cant cast to the middle in every spot. Its shaped like an L and the short leg is really wide. I was slow rolling an A Rig and dragging a ned. There are a few ponds I go to that are tiny and I can cast to every inch of water. With winter time temps and winter techniques, would a smaller pond be more successful because I can reach everywhere the fish could be and they are more concentrated, or am I still better off fishing the big pond and try more techniques? I figured they were deep and i have no clue the depth of either and I'm pretty sure they are both gentle slopes to the deepest spots. I tried to get the zoom to the same scale but I know its zoomed on the little pond more.
  19. Ive dabbled in fly fishing for bass and the clouser minnow and wooly bigger work. Big enough to keep dinky blue gills off.
  20. I dont have either but I have the baby rage craw and I like it in Okeechobee craw. Small, lots of action and flash from the blue flake.
  21. Im going to have to watch some videos of these. Ive thought about one a long while ago but having an Alabama rig now if it gets snagged I want it back!! Same with Jackhammers! Worth the price saving either twice.
  22. I use Bang Crawfish/Shad and Slab Sauce from Crappie.com. that and chartreuse spike it. But you all convinced me to wait until I can make it to Academy and get JJs and not spike it in red.
  23. Got it. Dont keep it in my tackle backpack, especially in summer, or suffer the consequences. Also dont use it on Elaztech or you will get a ball of mush.
  24. Wow. Good to know when I catch super dinks but big bass are lurking!
