More swing head jig questions
1. Are they good for slow dragging the bottom in the winter, like a jig but more weedless and slimmer profile? 2. Has anybody used a worm on one? I just picked up some SK Cutr worms and feel like they would work. 3. Just read an article about using swimbaits on them. Retrieve like a crankbait and it looks like a fish feeding on the bottom, swim it and ita more erratic than a standard swimbait head. Supposedly.... Anyone tried it?

Fishing with a pro.
Ive talked to him on Facebook before too. Ive asked questions on his posts and he has replied a few times. Never met him in person though. I can just imagine me hooking into a good one and him yelling YEAH GET IT LETS GO!!!

What jig heads/hooks does everyone use on their A Rig?
Will do. I'll probably pick up a pack out of curiosity. The Berkley ones come in Powerbait so have that pleasant funk smell to them and Walmart carries them so some random grocery trip I may come home with a pack.

What jig heads/hooks does everyone use on their A Rig?
I never thought about using the pre rigged swimbaits!!!! Berkley makes a big selection of Powerbait ones and Storm makes alot of different models. As long as they aren't too heavy that's genius!

Pre-Rigging
Your boat deck must look like an aisle of Bass Pro!! For me, I hate retying on the water, guess I should say on the bank. But, to the ire of my wife, I've been buying more and more combos so I don't have to retie and just take what I want to throw that day. I only take my tackle backpack in case I break off or need to change colors of plastics.

What jig heads/hooks does everyone use on their A Rig?
I want to use 1/16oz on top and 1/8oz on bottom. I'm using a Flash Mob Jr if that makes any difference. Zoom Swimmin Flukes have a super narrow nose and the squadron heads blew the nose out of two. I'll still use it but it looks weird. My goal is to have a ton of heads rigged up so I can just swap them out depending on water clarity and forage and not have to take the plastics off the hooks and thread different ones on. For weight savings I even thought about 1/16oz on bottom and unweighted straight shank on top. I'm totally new to this so trying to learn and see what works best.

What jig heads/hooks does everyone use on their A Rig?
I have a bunch of SK Squadron swimbait heads but tuehe soft plastic keeper on them are just so darn big and blow out the nose of narrower swimbaits. I picked up some belly weighted EWG hooks and have screw lock belly weighted hooks as well but i know an open hook jig head will have the best hookup ratio. So I'm trying to decide which ones to go with that have a small keeper. Will buy some in 1/8 and 1/16oz. So what do you all use?

What can I do, if anything, to fish the bottom of a mucky pond?
I was thinking drop shot. Pencil weight and a good long leader. Weight will pick up some muck but that will help keep it down IMO. Bait stays above the muck and moves freely. Use an EWG hook and texas rig a worm on it.

Evers and Tommy Biffle live in the vicinity but i would have to pick Ike! It would be educational but funny and exciting I bet!

Things To Do During The Freeze
Im in Oklahoma so never freezes but gets cold and windy. Ive taken up lure painting. Bought a 30pc set off Amazon for $20, all unpainted. 5 each of lipless, squarebill, deep diver, pencil popper, standard popper, and jerkbait. Came with eyes and split rings. Bought a can of primer and can of clear then 12 pack of acrylic paint. Some people airbrush them but we are just using brushes. Its pretty fun and my kids love it. I'm going to try my hand at some bluegill and craw patterns soon.

Ned rig as drop shot weight.
From the sound of it alot of people have breaks at the Palomar for the DS hook. I use VMC Spinshots so you tie to the top and bottom loop and hook swivels freely so wonder if this would help.

Looking to Partner with Soft Plastic Bait maker (big or small)
Personally I would love to make lures for a living. Pouring plastics and making new color combos. That's not work, that's having fun and getting paid for it!

shakey heads
I use the VMC Rugby Head which is an EWG hook and head that's not quite football not quite round. Stands up good and works good for me. I think line tie angel has something to do with how it moves when shaken.

Best Seasonal Baits
Winter: Jerkbaits, ive had better luck with soft plastic ones than hard lipped jerk baits, lipless, bed, drop shot, jigs Spring, summer, and fall: chatterbait, t-rig craw, squarebill if I'm around rocks and timber, ned, wacky stick bait, and frog. I tend to stay around there, although ive bought just about everything under the sun. I'll experiment with things but these are always tied on. I use 2 or 3 setups for experimenting and have dedicated setups for frog, chatterbait, and ned. Each year I try to get better with one new technique or lure. 2020 I didnt really but I tried alot of new things. 2021 is going to be A-Rig and finesse jigs I work on.

Ned rig as drop shot weight.
This is either the most genius idea or the most crazy. Either way I like it!!! Ive never thought about it and as long as you dont snag the bed to me its two presentations at once. Even if not worked in a traditional ned or dropshot retrieve. Very cool idea!

First time Spinnerbait
My colors are simple. Dirty water is black and blue or chartreuse and blue. Clear is sexy shad, pond is bluegill like green pumpkin and purple and black. Ive had the best luck using the slow roll on the bottom or wake it over weeds and grass. Had one day bank fishing a lake that I was catching them just winding it back past rocks and timber.

Favorite Bed Baits
I probably need to put this in General, if so please move, but i know NOTHING about bed fishing. I now know some lures to use, but besides that I'm a total newb at it.

Belly weighted EWG hooks on A-Rig???
Yeah I know exposed hook always has a better hook up ratio in every situation. I'm not sure running weedless hooks on that big of a setup will help much, except snagging on wood. But I figured it couldn't much if the action isnt effected. And no I didnt pay $7.50 for a pack haha. It was like $1.97.

Belly weighted EWG hooks on A-Rig???
I was at Wal-Mart getting groceries and I always cruise the fishing aisle. Was looking for some longer shank ball head jigs to use on my new A Rig but all they have were crappie size ones in 1/16oz. Two reasons I wanted them. I'm running all 1/8oz now and wanted two lighter for the top because ive heard it helps balance it better in the water and they are all SK Squadron swimbait heads with ridiculous large soft plastic keepers that blow out the nose on Swimmin Flukes. I saw these in 1/16oz and figured for $2 what the hey. I thought about using unweighted EWG hooks or straight shank worm hooks for the top and to keep overall weight down but I think the little weight on the top two arms will be better for balance. Anyone use either EWG or screwlock weighted or even unweighted hooks on an A Rig?

Bottom Bass Rigs
This proves my theory correct. I have the best luck in pressured ponds with a t rig soft plastic. 99/100 its a craw because for some reason I dont like using worms. That's about to change! Cant wait to get the SK Cutr worms that I ordered!

More than meets the eye...
Where did you fish? Im just going to be at a pond in Tulsa so probably way different than the lakes around here.

More than meets the eye...
Man next time i go out in trying out the A Rig for the first time and you're making me nervous!! I thought it was a cast, retrieve, hold on deal!?!?

Nose rigged fluke more stout dropshot hook (Casting rod)
On topic but sort of off topic, what's the advantage to nose hooking it over on an EWG? Ive always fished Flukes weedless on an EWG, but if I can improve on something I sure will!

Bottom Bass Rigs
It took me a few years to learn all the techniques and acquire the tackle. It was a natural progression and I started more power fishing and have learned more and more finesse as I go. One not mentioned is a swing head. From what i understand its a hook with a weight not hard fixed, that lets the weight and hook move separately. I say from what i understand, because i just ordered my first swing heads two days ago and haven't gotten them yet, let alone fished them. But my friend you have come to the right place. I learned about the swing head about a week ago right here and thought its something I could use that I don't have anything like. So I'm going to try it out.

What did you catch your biggest bass on in 2020? List all species if you like
Correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like you are straight retrieving it, but then paused, let it glide down and sit for a few. Or am I misunderstanding?
