  1. Just a thought, you could deep crank the channel and work the drop from the timer flats to the channel. Squarebill for shallower then deeper cranks to get down. Another idea ive heard is fish a whopper plopper right around the edges of the wood and try to call up bass that are holding on them.
  2. I don't know what the buzz about Keitech is all about. The regular swing impacts seem so small and skinny and the Fat are the regular size of other ribbed boot tails. With that said I really like the Berkley Power Swimmers. Same body as a Keitech or Rage Swimmer but feels more solid and caught 8 largies without a tear. Tare? Tair? Anyways. Plus the Powerbait smell I think helps when they bite to hold on a bit longer.
  3. ive fished Bixhoma from a boat and me and my step dad through everything we had at them and couldn't even get a nibble. But ive been successful from the bank at Keystone. Same with Skiatook. Slammed them from the bank.
  4. Agreed, and nighttime is when ive had the most luck. That and I'm not a morning person in the least!
  5. My step dad and I bond over fishing and he works with a guy who used to work at Rebel. He gave me a bag of all sorts of lures. I'll go through them and see if I have any doubles and give you a shout.
  6. The ONLY lures I would be a little saddened by losing is my two jackhammers. Other than that anyone I fish with could use whatever I have. Ive got more than I can fit in my tackle bag two times over haha. Which im sure alot of people here do too.
  7. Bring me with you and you could try just about everything under the sun. I live in Tulsa and am admitted gear hoarder, I mean collector! Haha. But, ive fished the Pier 51 Marina area from the bank up in the coves and had luck with a spinnerbait and chatterbait along the rocky banks. A squarebill crankbait banged on the rocky banks works well too. Ive bank fished the Keystone Ramp as well and ita good squarebill territory. Also some shortbread jig heads and a plastic worm drug along the bottom for ones hugging the bottom has worked. I use dark colors, black and blue, red and black.
  8. Yeah that sounds dangerous let alone not fun haha. Bass from the bank is a whole different thing so give it a shot again!
  9. I always thought the same, then started nailing them at night so now I adapt and overcome!
  10. Like many others, topwater is my favorite way to fish and catch fish. Ive gone early morning and gotten very few if any bites. So I started going at evening and staying and fishing in the dark. Ive had the best, moat exciting time fishing doing it! Ive been having luck with a matte black Berkley Choppo 90 and a Sexy Bluegill SK Pad Perch. The blowups are insane and I have no idea what I'm fighting until I get it to the bank. Its been all pond fishing and ive caught a 3lb amd 3.8lb largie, plus various pounders. I used to be so intimidated by night fishing, now I cant get enough!
  11. Ive had good luck with the Yum Breakin Shad. They have a very similar movement to an actual Fluke.
  12. I agree. It takes on water, walks like crap, and has never caught a fish for me. I'll stick to frogs and the Pad Perch. Honestly about the only Lunkerhunt lure I like is the Lunkerfrog.
  13. On this topic, I have one of those Lunkerhunt Yappa Bugs that have the cupped Bill like a jitterbug but is hollow and has frog hooks. Didn't have any sucess with it and it doesn't walk anywhere near as good as an actual jitterbug, but it's weedless.
  14. Ive had alot of success lately fishing topwater at night. I agree with everyone else that it's not bass unless its one smacking a bluegill feeding on insects. Ive had luck with a matte black Choppo and a Sexy Bluegill Pad Perch in the thicker stuff. Imitates fish or dying fish at the surface. When the bass smack them you can 100% tell the difference in the sound.
  15. Thanks for the heads up. Im trying to figure a way to use a gift card then the rest with my debit card through PayPal but not succeeding. I want a hot sauce fogy too and it's putting me over my gift card limit!
  16. So you were within miles of where i live. Ive tried to get a job there for a while now!
  17. Man that sucks. I have a few urban creeks and drainage ditches that have fish. Some I havent explored because they are so wooded and me and snakes are not fans of each other.
  18. Ive never been to a paid lake but they just made a ton of them pay lakes. Im in Oklahoma. Tulsa area. So still city but no Call city type.
  19. Yeah that's why i like the Panfish Magnet stuff. Smaller than the crappie magnet. 1/64 oz jig head. Sometimes, like in the pic, I'll throw a power egg on it for flavor. When im hitting pressured public park ponds its about all that works. The biggest thing that works is a med rig on a ML. But that's why ive stopped going to those ponds pretty much.
  20. I have a 4'8 UL Ugly Stick that I always have a 1/64 oz Panfish Magnet jig head tied on. I use it mainly for Panfish. On occasion I'll get a small bass, and the rare occasion I get bigger ones, and its helped me learn to use thw drag better and fight them smart, but quickly. But if I want to go super ultra light and get a great fight out of a 6oz fish I use my 4wt flr rod with a 2lb mono leader. A bluegill will take you for a ride. Caught a bass that was about 8 oz I'm guessing and it felt like I had a salmon on the line! I dont target small bass but occasionally they bite and the fun begins!
  21. This is the way. I also do this as well. But I usually leave the soft plastic on the hook when I am done. I use a few different Powerbait soft plastics but not a ton, and no maxscent so never been an issue for me. Learned my lesson on the Elaztech stuff the hard way though.
  22. Oh wow what a necrobump. But it's still a good topic that I have been curious of. My PB was caught right after a storm. I followed advice and my gut, plus a little common sense and fished an inlet to a pond that the water rushes into after a rain. I figured it would wash in all sorts of stuff the tiny baitfish feed on, which in turn draws the bigger baitfish, in turn the bass. Sure enough, the slack water off the current I caught a fatty I'm guessing was lying in wait for something to wash in.
  23. I would love to fish with Ike! But i see its an auction and I got laid off, thanks oil industry, so maybe next year!
  24. That big? I didnt think they could eat that big of a fish. Wow. So i stand corrected if you're trying to build a big bass pond! Maybe a blue then? I know they get big as well but I dont think they are as known for being as voracious of predators.
  25. A guy I know from a crappie forum has a pond that he asked me to help cull out some crappie for this reason. He ended up putting a few flathead in it to help with the bluegill and small stunted crappie. Seems to be working well for him. So maybe get with someone who is into cat fishing and get a big ol flathead and throw it in there. Talk about apex predator!
