  1. I live just south of the city. Fish lots of smaller lakes and ponds round town
  2. I set a goal for myself last year to catch a 3lber. I was fishing with a buddy last june and catching lots of bass on a ned rig, when I hooked into a pretty big one for me. I swore it was over 3, but when I weighed it, it was 2.99lbs ? Im not making goals this year ?... -Brad
  3. A. force myself to bring a net out bank fishing. I lost three huge pike this year because they bit off at the bank ? lost some great lures to those fish as well because I didn't have a net. B. Go fishing at least once a week. even when the weather is unfavourable, and I don't think ill catch anything, because those days are always the best. C. Learn T-rigs, poppers, and lipless cranks backwards and forwards. If I go at least once a week then that should be possible.
  4. Love Rapala Jerks! They are affordable (at least compared to many others ) have good variety, and catch the heck out of bass in my area. I love the husky jerk and ripstop in natural colors. I recommend the perch color for both, and also the olive ghost for the husky jerk.
  5. If there is wind, sun, and clear water, I pull out a Jerkbait. They excel in these conditions for me. If I'm fishing a Jerkbait, 80% of the time its perch colored, because that's the forage in my neck of the woods. I will put out the translucent occasionally. I have never had a bass hit a Jerkbait in less than 1ft of visibility, at that point, I reach into the tackle box for something more suitable. You also said that you were looking for some deeper Jerkbaits, but deep Jerkbaits rarely hit much deeper than 10-12ft, so at that depth, there's still good light penetration in clear- stained water so, I wouldn't worry about different colors for deep jerks. Hope this helps. -Brad
  6. My husky jerks always slowly float, even when using 8lb fluro, But that generally happens to be what I want when I use them. for me, they are a summer jerkbait that I fish around weeds, where a slow float limits fouling. Like mentioned above, if you want a true suspender, their are other options. A yellow perch colored 8 was my 2nd biggest fish producer this year.
