Husky jerk

Featured Replies

Does anyone else have problems with these suspending? I have a bunch of #8’s.  I never throw them in warm water so not sure if I have a few duds, but they all rise on the pause .

A bait that suspends at 60-70 degrees will rise as it gets colder.

from my experience husky jerks generally are slow risers even at warmer temps.

I keep a pack of suspenstrips in my boat and add or remove according to water temp.

Husky jerks are supposed to rise. Get some shadow raps or x-raps if you want a suspender.

They’ve probably always done this I just never noticed.

I bought two recently that both suspend perfectly, although I was tossing them on 6lb mono. I left one underwater right next to the boat for 2 minutes and it never floated up

You will have to tune them a little. All my husky rise some faster than others. I use mostly bigger split ring, but dot weight would be easier.

This one I added small piece of copper to split ring.

I have the same experience with my HJ 10s. Anything over 8lb test and they rise. I'm using Silver thread copoly on these, in case someone wants to check line diameter rather than lb test.

One of the best things ever made for anglers.

My husky jerks always slowly float, even when using 8lb fluro, But that generally happens to be what I want when I use them. for me, they are a summer jerkbait that I fish around weeds, where a slow float limits fouling.  Like mentioned above, if you want a true suspender, their are other options. A yellow perch colored 8 was my 2nd biggest fish producer this year.

Try the hj12 & hj14 sizes. Their are killer sizes for smallmouth & largemouth.
