  1. So I'm teaching my 13 year old nephew to fish, he's really getting into it. He has a pond approx 130 yards long by 80 yards wide it is average depth about 3-4' however about 20% at the dam is 5-6'. It has always had bluegills, bullfrogs and turtles. 3 year ago a family friend dumped in several crappie and largemouth however the drain tile wasn't ever covered til now and I assumed they left thru the pipe during high water. That's is not the case. There is bass and crappie still in it. We bought and stocked 100 largemouth fingerlings and 25 channel cats back in spring. 2 year ago we removed 18 of the turtles. This evening in less than 2 hours my nephew and I caught 65 bluegills 1 crappie (4") and 1 bass (9") all on crappie grubs. The average bluegill is 4-5" long but maybe 1 out of 25 could be as big as 7-8". The bluegill must be many thousands. We have only thrown crappie lures grubs and stingers and I haven't thrown a bass bait yet. I am wanting to concentrate on growing the bass, what would be the best idea of managing or should I just leave it as is? For the last few weeks we been feeding dog food daily and it looks like piranha. All the fish we been catching have been pop gutted and look as healthy as can be. There is zero structure in the water. What would you do to improve the future fishing if anything?
  2. I use them year around and prefer the floating type in warm water months when pauses are no longer necessary.
  3. Bruce Jenner use to post a lot of similar I bet before the Caitlyn surprise so I'm guessing Glenn is gonna... Glenna ???
  4. Rapala has a golden shiner color you can google and see it. It is listed on the auction site in a shallow diving 5 1/2" model called a Super Shadrap Shallow.
  5. Thought I had a real deal today as the Berkley soft plastics was half off from $2.49 to 3.49. But everything in pic is $49 so it doesn't seem that good deal, I don't know And the answer to the question above? Zona calls Hackney the little Ewok from Louisiana!!!!
  6. I am wanting to get into Bagley lures but I don't know anything about them. I think I have maybe 20 but mostly Bang o's. Do we have any knowledgeable members here on Bagley cranks?
  7. A rusty Johnson is not something you want to admit to! The bait monkey does approve of your recent acquisitions. You get extra points if you know what Star Wars reference that Mark Zona calls Greg Hackney
  8. On the website I see the equivalent of brush hogs that are made from gulp. Just think how amazing these will be and worked super slow or just laying motionless the bass will go wild for them I'm thinking!
  9. Update: baits came back as soft and bendy as new. After 4-5 years dry and freezing and thawing in outbuilding. Gulp is a little annoying to use but it gets great results!
  10. I'm gonna guess Glenn is the latest angler to join up with the Googan Squad! ???
  11. If you had a lateral line or fins or enjoyed spawning in the spring you wouldn't say that ??? I'll be standing by to hear how you enjoy spring spawning lol
  12. @A-Jay is this an upgrade from the dream shot?
  13. I've had the Shield for about 6-7 years in .40. I have shot the 365 in 9mm. I would go for the Sig as long as it has a manual safety as does my Shield. I've never had a hiccup from the Shield but Increased mag capacity gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. I also keep a b.u.g. LCP in my pocket for fun. when the weather gets colder and the option for carrying something bigger while in town or in the woods my Beretta 92 with 18+1 9mm would be nice. Just get those 3 ?
  14. @Teal & @Fishin' Fool what is the best way to use a double fluke as far as speed of retrieve, pauses, jerks, yo-yoing?
  15. This thread has been slow a little here lately, Bait Monkey Johnson is worried bout yall!! I can't belive I'm just now seeing this lil 1/2oz Lover chatterbait minnow thing, looks so good and so small it has to get eaten. And some 6/0 Beasts for the Damiki air frogs.
  16. That's some tough stuff dried out!
  17. Just found an opened packet of Gulp 1" Hellgranmites from 4-5 years ago. Dried out hard but appear to have held their form. Filled up bag with the Gulp Recharge juice to experiment if they will come back to life... Anybody done this before? Boredom from not fishing!
  18. What with the way 2020 has been I'd not be surprised no matter what...
  19. Mo, do you use the fat Albert or the split tail like we use have on spinnerbaits and the original chatterbaits? What color?
  20. I have my eye on some lures by Buck Creek Lures made in East Tn. Has anybody here tried his lures? I am digging that super bright chartreuse I see he uses!! Gonna try his shallow diving cranks.
  21. Has anybody done any jittering? I used it couple hours the other night after midnight but no takers on any topwater only on Senkos. Threw both the 5/8 and 3/8 sizes with adjusted lips and the 3/8 wasn't that bad just more subtle of splish splashing which may be what it's all about anyways. Have you seen the Jitterbug 2.0 listed @JediAmoeba I wonder how it'll work with that big feather trailer. If I'm not mistaken TW only had it in 3/8. You threw your Jitterbugs any this year?
  22. Always a GYCB Senko, jig and a topwater of some type.
  23. I had 5 balsa prop lures come in yesterday's mail and just opened them up and am currently examining. 4 of brand 1 are what I expected but my single example of brand 2 which is $5 higher than brand 1 and sells for $26 shipped seems questionable. The wire that runs through the lure can be slid back n forth perhaps 3/8" and shows the unpainted unsealed hole on each side. What should I do to this lure to keep water from filling the hole and maybe saturating and potentially ruining the unsealed balsa? Does the wire need twisted more to tighten this up? Maybe I'm overthinking this?
