I was just thinking how am I a fisherman, a lover of cornbread and a usual user of cast iron and I don't own one of those cast iron baking pans that makes your cornbread into the shape of bluegill??? It's almost more fun than fishing lol. Any sizable rock I saw in 15" or less of water I'd grab the side pointing upstream and slow slow slowly raise letting the oncoming current wash away the muddy water. Then if Mr Crawdad is still there id ease my hand toward him til as close as I dare and try fast as I can to pin him down.

I just had a BLT myself, just wanted you to know lol I don't think peta would mind me just lovingly adding a colorful dye to my favorite crustation. But now adding the hook might throw a twist to their panties

Always seem to be more heavily populated in creeks. Rocky bottoms for sure. Now for a new spin... I've always wanted a dye that I could put my live Craws in and keep them alive and they come out a bright chartruese. I dunno if that's a thing or not but I can dream...

I love hand catching crawdads even at 38 ? the last time I did it for bait was about 15 years ago and my buddy and me caught near 40 in a couple hours. That was in a creek. Now in the river they are in the swift rocky water that is from 1 to 3 feet deep. I can put a piece of meat on a hook and throw out on bottom and have a real monster hanging on with his claws. I have always wanted one of the square craw cages but haven't yet bought one. I bet chicken gizzards would be good to bait with along with some liver.

I agree and we didn't purchase any crappie but a guy dumped some in and there ya go. The only other crappie we caught was approx 9". Can you imagine the bass trying to spawn in a pond like that with no cover for the fry and ten million lil gills eating at them. I'll try an get some larger bass to add. I wonder what would be the best structure to add?
