Are DC Reels Really Bad for Beginners?
I got to experience this yesterday. It was one of my nephews birthday and he received the SLX DC. He had only used a Zebco 33 before. I put 10 pound mono on and tied on a 1/2oz jig and he, his father and my father who all 3 had never casted a baitcaster before was able to do so without a single incident . So my opinion is for a beginner a dc reel is an excellent choice.

Any interest in trapping?
I got to see a cool sight while deer hunting back in November. In the pre dawn darkness I just happened to turn my headlamp at the right time to catch a flying squirrel make an incredible flight, he started out maybe 70 feet high and covered a space of 40 feet or more and landed about 10-15 foot high on the trunk of another tree.

First fish you've ever caught
I remember my first 2 fish vividly. One was a Redeye in a river on a red worm around 8 years old and the second around that same age was in a creek using corn kernels and I caught a type of sucker called a hog molly. I can’t remember my first bass but I suspect it was a pond bass and definitely a largemouth. By the time I was 12 or so I was spoiled with a great bass pond to fish and was a die hard artificial fisherman ? Zoom Trick worms in pink bubble gum and the Creme floating worm in natural nightcrawler color and a sassy Shad on a jig head I was in my mind a KVD before KVD was cool.

Spro Rock Crawler 55 vs 50
So tell me something about these warts and wart copies, the chrome colors or Shad look alike models, why no love for them? Looking at A-jays box I see exactly what’s normal for these lures. Crawdad imitating paint jobs. Do the other wart colors get good results? I even heard Epic Eric say he buys the chrome colors cause they are cheapest to have repainted.

Pies
1/2 cup peanut butter 1- 8 oz cool whip (halved) 1- 8 oz cream cheese 1 cup confectionery sugar 1 graham cracker crust Lay cream cheese out the night before, mix top 4 ingredients, saving half the cool whip for topping. Add a “splash” of milk if too thick. Edit: we always add milk. Add filling to pie shell and cover in cool whip and chill for 1-2 days before eating for best taste. @Terrance Waters

The Lucky Craft RC cranks
The rc cranks was before my time as far as fishing or having this bait monkey but he was telling me the other day I should look into getting ahold of one. I’ve read that the made in USA models are a far cry from what came from Japan associated with Clunn and priced 3x higher. Looking on the auction sites they want a pretty penny for them. Are they something that every lure lover and bass fishermen needs to experience? Tungsten weight and rattling vs lead in the USA models, is this true? Are there any other interesting things you can tell me about the LC RC series to make me wanna hit that buy it now button? If any here can post any pics of theirs I’d love to see your collection big or small

Post a photo a day!
A little something to go with my Rock Crawlers! The Mrs and me got married bout 3.5 years ago and have a 2 year old daughter and just days before Christmas last year she had a late miscarriage that ruined our Christmas. My wife has had to be on fertility meds ever since we got married to have kids and Thursday night we got this test and we are excited and I’m hoping for a boy!!!

Seeking a better Mann’s Baby One Minus
I’ve heard Epic Eric say that the ones that’s say Mann’s on one side and Minus 1 on the other side is the ones to get. I guess the later ones didn’t have that on them. I’ll have to dig mine out and see what I have.

Spro Rock Crawler 55 vs 50
Nice looking box of “tools” there @A-Jay and in the usual suspects as far as make and color! What was your perspective in the past on the og Wiggle Warts? Have you gave the current Storm warts a trial run?

Spro Rock Crawler 55 vs 50
I was thinking of your Zoner Hunters last night @WRB I didn’t recall seeing them listed for sale when you sold lure lots, maybe you sold them local I thought. I didn’t know you kept any lures (I am glad you did and I hope you’ll use them) I had seen you mention them in many older posts I searched through last night. I see they are available on the auction site from like Serbia or somewhere. Has anybody ordered these from those sellers? Are these Japanese made lures or Japanese designed and China built? I have a few of the old warts, some of the new, some Wiggle O’s, Rock Crawlers and am looking at the Major Craft and 6th Sense Curve not really out of need but want thanks to Bait Monkey.

Spro Rock Crawler 55 vs 50
How does the 50 size compare to the 55. Is the action the same? Is it a fish catcher as the 55 is? For 4-8 feet deep is there a better option? Would you rather throw an og Wiggle Wart, a new rap wart or another wart nock off or would you just throw the 55 even in less than 9’? What’s your guys thoughts on using the 55, any suggestions and pointers?

Pies

Seeking a better Mann’s Baby One Minus
@Fishes in trees I see you mention the Timber Tigers often and thought you’d enjoy seeing this salesman sheet of Tigers I picked up just before Christmas last year. I was gonna remove them and put rings and hooks on them and use them but have got attached to the look of them on the board. There is 10 of the models you mention that dive a foot or less.

Jerk baits
Welcome back Jim! I’ve been missing those extensive lists of quality lures on the bait monkey thread. There are many good jerkbaits out there. I’ll be looking forward to reading what you choose.

Norman Speed N..
I’ve never seen one yet in person but when you read “speed” in a crankbaits name I’d assume it was meant for burning. Speaking of which did you guys hear Matt Allen a few weeks ago talking about burning deep winter cranks in cold water? His River to Sea deep crank is built for that purpose. I’d imagine this Norman lure was built for southern lakes in winter hitting 6-7’ deep.
