What is/are your setups for smallmouth?
alot of baits for lmb carry over for smallmouths, jerkbaits, cranks, and neds/bottom bumper baits are all solid choices, depending on your conditions

Light Texas rig-bead or no bead?
Nothing wrong with a bead by any means, I love beads and while they are mostly used for Carolina rigs to prevent the lead egg sinker getting stuck in the swivel, they provide a great sound and you can use them on texas rigs to provide a clacking sound. They also have good color selection depending on what bait your throwing. Glass beads I like a little better than plastic and feel they clack a little more, however they can break if you are fishing them over rocks or aggressivley bouncing the texas rig. plastic doesnt have the same noise as glass but is more durable.

Well you are my favorite channel, taught me about stupid tubing for lmb in bushes, that's a blast in heavily pressured clear water flippin/pitching lakes.

Lb test for jigs?
Very good to know, maybe I'm just setting the hook wrong, I'm setting it just like a t rig

Lb test for jigs?
Very interesting, I have noticed that alot as well with certain lines, the cheaper monos have a bigger diameter and break quicker, and the izorline coplymer lines have small diameter and are stronger, sunline fluorocarbon are even stronger and thinner diameter, perhaps the nylon chemical recipes each company uses. Don't know much about braid on the other hand Very interesting, perhaps I will keep trying the 12lb big game, I do feel the lighter line helps present the bait better as well with rod. Do you set the hook similarly to a Texas rig? Harder? Softer? I have not fished jigs much so don't know much about hook setting them. Thanks for your help!

Lb test for jigs?
Olay I will not use my heavier wire hooks for this application, I will use my finesse jigs. Good idea thankyou! Yes this has been happening with the heavier wire hook+lighter rod+thick weed gaurd on 12lb line and I just can't get the hook in the mouth effectivley, I will upgrade my line I think for heavier gage wire hooks

Lb test for jigs?
When I'll be throwing them, it's weed free pebble bottom, not it's starting to become weed free. Perhaps I just upgrade from 12 to 15, may just be best. Interesting that 12lb works for your lighter jigs. I think my 1/4th oz should be manageable because the gaurd isn't too still and the hook is lighter, the 3/8th oz ones are the ones that scare me a little more

Lb test for jigs?
So I'm fishing 1/4- 3/8th original arkie jigs and am trying to use lighter line in the clearer water. With that said, what is the lightest line you guys can get away with for the heavier wire jig hooks? Perhaps 12lb is too light for the hook, although I would really like to have that as my goal line. Do you think sense I'm fishing more open water trimming the weed gaurd partially or fully off would allow me to drop down to this line weight? Thanks for your time

I have noticed spinnerbaits have taken a fall out period, so many lures similar, like underspins, so many moving baits, the one thing I do like about spinnerbaits is the skirt and getting it to pulse.

Braid+leader vs floro
I love mono and floro but memory can drive me crazy as well, with 10 foot leaders you can at least straighten out the line with your hands.

Better than coffee
I hate bats, I would be so worked up I'd call the fishing trip up and order 8 McDonald's big Max's and some hashbrowns to calm myself down.

Lures that lost popularity?
Hair jigs are amazing, I picked up those spro phat Flys you recommended and my goodness, they are amazing under certain conditions, plus I beefed up my jig box today and picked up alot more for this fall+winter.

Braid+leader vs floro
Yes I have noticed it's hard on gear as well, I use sic guides and it is better, but don't use on stainless steel guides
-
Braid+leader vs floro
Yeah I loved fishing braid to leader in less snaggy offshore areas, but when there us a ton of riprap and just shaggy stuff I hate retying a leader more than 5 tinea a day lol, now imagine it in the freezing winter temps, although if I can get away with it in a snagless area, I'll do it Hmm, maybe it's worth a try, I remember using 4lb braided line for trout on a 100$ trout UL rod, really nice, chew through two of the guides and was livid, also trout fishing in the winter hated reltying in the cold. With that said, maybe I'll give it a shot on the newer sic guides because I think it may still chew through my older stainless steel guides, (even mono has made line divits)

Braid+leader vs floro
Warning controversial topic. This is relating to bottom lures and sensitivities. I use straight floro, reasons include not having to deal with the problems of braid like digging into spool, killing rod guides, annoying sound, tying extra knots, harder backlashes to get out. What do you guys prefer? Do you like braid more for the bonus sensitivity? Or do you like to not have to hassle of the problems above I listed. I'm not against braid personally, I use it for frogging and flipping, I just feel like people overuse it alot.

Evening fishing vs. Dawn fishing.
This is not a one size fits all and it's not cut and dry, but spring-fall (usually) reaction bite morning and non moving lures later in the day, but this can change

Lures that lost popularity?
I don't know perhaps, or the eaker shaker doesn't even look like a chatterbait because it doesn't have a skirt or jighead, and the patent is based on how the line attaches to the blade, not the blade itself, that's why there are other companies like Picasso making chatterbaits that bypass the zman patented design.

Reaction Bites
Because we love rabbit holes, and obsess about bass fishing lol, I will throw you a carrot down the hole to enter the shenanigans we have created.

Lures that lost popularity?
Maybe the company just have never heard of that style of chatterbait, I havent and it seems many others here have not

The creme pre rigged worms are amazing and affordable, you can troll em, fish them for trout; bass, hookup rates are great!

Lures that lost popularity?
Jointed minnows are amazing, and jelly worms just have amazing scent and a classic! My PB this year was a 5 pound female post spawner guarding fry, swam 15 feet just to hammer a lizard, I am a believer I love grubs, plus you can swim them like a keitech, that's what they did before keitechs

Lures that lost popularity?
I feel like alot of people have forgotten about the older styles of lures and they have lost popularity, what's your favorite lure? My favorite forgotten lure is a tube for lmb, I like fishing it on a standard jig as I can fish it similarly but different presentation.

How did you do this year?
This year has been fabulous for me, I have found every seasonal and sub seasonal pattern with ease and used techniques to land those fish. Only go out on the water twice a month, sometimes more. Landed two 4-5lb fish this year and quite a few 3-4 pounders. Have not hooked into anything huge but also have not been to the lakes in my area that have double digits. Been fishing a lot of a small fish lake recently because it may not be around in a few years, they are trying to drain it completely.......
