User error vs gear issue?
Fishing jigs and Texas rigs on mono is doable and I do it to this day, you MUST remember though, swing for the fences. I mean as hard as you can, and crank the drag down tight. This is because these baits have thick hooks and you have to push them through thick plastic or a heavy weed guard. On the other side, if your fishing treble hook baits lightly set the hook or just reel into them, because they are sticky and will catch.

why dont many people use casting spoons?
why do u perfer single hook vs a treble hook? do you add trailers to the single hooks? yeah, I think that you can use jig spoons and cast them but I guess "casting spoons" would be considered more of a swimming spoon, like a johnson sprite spoon, ment to be swam instead of cast, they have more wobble and are usually thinner and weigh less than a jigging spoon, but not as thin and light as a flutter spoon. so for instance, here are a few spoons that are kasting style ive been using by the reccomendations of tom and many others (although I have added feathered hooks on the baits) Although I have leaned twords just pure silvery colors most often when fishing them.

light hair jigs?
I think I will have to pick a few up in shady colors, and bring them through schooling bass when they wont hit topwaters

light hair jigs?
Do light hair jigs work well for schooling shallow bass in gen clear water? I thought they may work well because they look fairly natural, like bass schooling on points and coves in that 10-15 foot zone with water vis around 15-22 feet?

Pond stocking question
Green sunfish are a great forage, I think bringing in bigger bass in the quarter pond range + may be a good way to avoid the panfish from cleaning them out.

Finesse fishing around grass...
My specialty, small and slow, or fast moving baits. Go based on weather, go based on Time of day, long casts. Nqtural colors

Break off mortality?
I am not quite sure, but one time I caught a tiny tiny bass (like under a quarter pound) with a 3/0 EWG in his mouth and he was still feeling fine, the hook was rusted and had been in there for at least a month, but only God knows how long. ended up popping right out and put him back in the water, im sure he wasnt happy swimming around with that thing in his mouth but im not too happy when the dentist shoves a bunch of wires and metal pointy things in my mouth either. Oh thats Alfed the bass, yeah hes a nice guy he just returns your lures if he mistakes them for food, his brother Larry the pike isnt as forgiving...

Fish can't swim backwards?
I mean they can, ive seen them when bed fishing swim backwards a foot or so and forward a foot or so, expecially when fanning their eggs but, they do it slowly, its not like them cruising forward i guess its more repositioning, they can also move sideways with their fins but slowly as well, just think of a bedfish moving in all directions on a bigger bed, they can its just well... slower.

How Long Is Your Average Fishing Outing ??....
I would love to be out on the water for 8 hours, and there are some days I do, but my weekly outings are usually a hour or two, and I usually have a trip once every month or two thats around 4-8 hours. I feel like going out more frequently for shorter time spans gets you really informed on different types of the year and you can stick to patterns much easier

why dont many people use casting spoons?
this is all really good information, alot of my schooling bass are near the surface or 10 ft below the surface and while there is snaggy stuff on bottom when they feed they are not usually near the bottom, I think i will have to try some spoons, I think it will immitate the smaller baitfish well FASCINATING! this is what I think I need to do, I have really clear water with smaller baitfish and these bass are up near the surface, I think this is a great Idea and have tons of spoons already from trout fishing!!!!

why dont many people use casting spoons?
must of been a fun time as a kid, I love spoons for inshore species as well we have alot of perch and spoons work great for them! I think that is super true, Im really young in comparison to most guys fishing (19), but I love alot of the oldschool techniques and my grandfather always tells me about them when I go bass fishing. This year I have fallen in love with the oldschool floating rapala, I feel like sense nobody fishes it anymore its really strong and the action these things have are insane.

why dont many people use casting spoons?
thanks that was a great explination, went through my grandfathers old tackle box and he has alot of metal spoons that he used for bass and talked about using with great detail, glad to know why not many people use them anymore, maybe ill try them some day and try in line spinners as well wow fascinating! I think I will try these because my grandfather used to fish them through schools of bass way back in the day. This is really cool information, will pick up a few of the feathered treble hooks like you said because I bet they do make a big difference! thankyou so very much!

why dont many people use casting spoons?
Hi, So I know alot of people fish with flutter spoons and jigging spoons, but why not casting spoons? I feel like a casting spoon just retrieved like a spinnerbait through schools of baitfish could be a strong lure, especially in clearer water. the same goes with in line spinners, why do people not fish these, ive tried searching for people that fish them but have not found anything.

Scents on big swimbaits.
So I was wondering if I could add scent to the Huddleston or would it destroy the plastic? Also even for smaller ones like dark sleepers could I put scent on them?

Swimbait rabbit hole
So I have collected a few swimbaits and have a few Huddleston, gantarel jackals, and s wavers, but I guess my question is soft vs hard body. Like for instance which performs better in what water visibility, and should you use a soft body close to the surface like a hard body floater or do the floaters just look better near the surface? Thanks for your guys time!

Do you have a ritual or lucky charm when fishing?
Praying for a safe trip and thanking God after each fish I catch, I believe it is a ritual that keeps me safe and keeps morale very high.

Do you grab a bass mouth with your left or right hand?
Same thing you just descriped, im left handed though so I hold the bass with my right hand and get hook out with left hand, now heres the interesting thing, I use a right handed casting reel because A I grew up with them right and thats all they had but B because as a left hander casting and retrieving with a right hand retrieve reel you dont have to switch rods with hands and u can start cranking as soon as it hits the water.

Feeling the pressure
no problem brother, Patience and slowing down is a big one as well, fishing slower on slow days or fishing over the same spot longer with moving baits is key, right on!

Feeling the pressure
I have grown up on the west coast, and It actually took me two years of learning how to fish for bass (coming from only trout) to actually catch a bass, (a quarter pounder) I learned how to fish pressured waters and growing up I never didnt fish non-pressured waters. It can be considered a blessing because while I cant just toss a texas rig out, hop it around for an hour, and get bit, or burn spinnerbaits around and get bit, I have learned how to catch them on these methods in pressured waters in good weather conditions, and how to catch them on your average day with more finesse stuff and even big stuff. Its really hard to explain because pressured fishing is all ive known, hence the name but, its a whole another ball game compared to standard midwest bassin and even most of the country. the best thing I can urge to you is, go to the extreme! if you want to catch these pressured bass, now is the time more than ever to worry about the smallest things. and try so many different types of finesse lures. Try a ned rig, try a dropshot, try a child rig, try a neko rig, try a wacky rig, try a finesse Trig, change the colors depending on water clarity, if its gen clear and u got the right color, change the sparkle, if its murky and you got a good color, add chartruse streaks, I am a big believer in color, I was bed fishing a 4lber for 3 hours with different baits and she showed no intrest, I added a chartruse tail to the exact same worm I was throwing at it with for the past hour and it bit the worm as soon as it hit the bed. Small things DONT matter in non pressured water, but make the world of a difference in these pressured bass. Try colors that look super wierd but realistic, so for instance I love this color called super violet disco by ZOOM, its super goofy and is basicially clear with sparkles but bass havent seen it and they cant get a good look at it so they hammer it. by the same token, go big! west coast bass are known to hit big glidebaits and swimbaits and im sure they will hit them there, but you dont have to go to a big 8 inch huddleston, if your bass get only 4lbs throw 5 inch boot tail on bottom and crawl, people dont have the patience to throw these things for hours but they pay off. If you dont like swimbaits throw a big worm. if bass only see 5 inch soft plastics that means they dont see anything smaller, but by the same token they dont see anything larger, yknow? Finally dont rule out moving baits, if the weather conditions are right, throw your moving baits, they do get bit, just fish them really wierdly and you will get bit, for instance, dont just cast and wind, pop your swimbait up 10 feet really quickly and let it fall back down 10 ft, or on your jerkbaits rip super fast and then super slow, ive even had a ton of luck just bringing in a walking bait without even walking it, just bring it in as fast as you can for a second and kill it, bring it in super fast and kill it. just do stupid stuff that nobody else would do and it works. baitfish are not predictible, so your lures shouldnt be either. hope this helps, its a long rant I know but, they are catchable

no wake zones. when people dont follow it
In california its terrible, boaters on many lakes have a 50 foot stay away from shore rule but they never follow it, its frustrating for me when I bank fish and will throw lures near their boat untill they get the message. honestly I shouldnt be surprised because its california
