  1. That sounds awesome, I hate boiling or microwaving plastics to get them strait again as well, if 6th sense has a good locking color I'll get it. One thing I like about zooms is there are alot of different colors. My favorite is disco violet, which is clear, smoking shad, which is shad, and a uper sparkly silver for when bass are schooling, plus whites are always good or the pro blue red pearls
  2. im not quite sure depending on how fast the water is moving, but I have been tinkering with the storm wildeye swim shad, and its got a flat keeled body very similar to the megabass dark seleeper and has been around for almost the same time, I dont know who copied who but, I just brought this up because if your fishing a river that sometimes means snags and if you have snags It may be better to not fish a expensive bait but, its up to u, plus the megabass dark sleeper is weedless, so that is a bonus.
  3. wow thats really good to know, I was planning on fishing them t rigged so ill stick with the super flukes. Thankyou very much!
  4. Specs on the Diawas seem to have small fine tuning+ spool weight reductions based on Icast specs. Shimanos curados are pretty much reskins+ replacing the knobs and removing the metal nut retainer for a plastic nut retainer. thats a nutshell. I have not held these reels, or purchased any of them, so take my comments with a grain of salt, I have just looked at the specs comparing the newest versions to the older models. Personally ill be waiting to see if there is a bigger jump in technology, (FTB system style breaking systems that work even better, smaller profile, weight reduction, etc.) Im not knocking the reels, far from it, I just dont need any more reels at the moment and there isnt much revolutionary technology I see to justify my spending the 400 dollars for a new reel.
  5. good information, I think im going to pick more up in the 5 inch because I really like using them as soft plastic jerkbaits, I have fallen in love with a color called disco violet, its nice in the clear water. I was thinking about maybe using the 4 inch version if the bass dont want the bigger profile of the 5.25, but I would need to switch to spinning gear I think if fished weightless. I think your idea of using them on a dropshot could be fun to experiment with, because I have quite a few of the 3" flukes that look really good, I think I use the standard worm too much in certain situations.
  6. Oh I was looking at tackle warehouse, I'll check out basspro, thanks for that idea!
  7. So I noticed that the zoom super fluke comes in three sizes, the 4, 5.25, and 7, and the 4 inch and 5.25 come with the same amount of 10. Now the standard zoom fluke comes in 10 as well in 4 inch for 2.50 compared to 4.50, the rate the super Flukes are. An I missing something? Is it a color thing or scent/flavor thing? Thanks 4 ur time. If I want 4 inch Flukes should I just rock the standard fluke for 2.50?
  8. I've only fished there once for trout, would fish there more but the dock owners don't like boaters fishing the docks and if you fish from shore your limited to 10% of the lake because large majority of the shore butts up to private property, plus it's kinda touristy imo. If your family is going there on a trip, by all means I'm not saying don't fish lol, it's still worth trying to snag a bass but I'm not driving 2-3 hours for a day trip to fish it if ya feel me.
  9. yes I have noticed this to be true, my pond has 1+ pound bluegill and ALOT of them. I have noticed that before baitfish where in the pond (there are shad in this pond) alot of the bass where smaller. Now that there are shad and big bluegill, I feel like its a a good balence because these big bluegill create alot of small bluegill, plus the smaller bass can eat the shad. Although if a pond has just big bluegill, I think it could hurt the population. The pond I fish also has alot of crayfish, and frogs year round so its a buffet and the big bluegill arent as big of a factor as a pond that just has a bluegill forge.
  10. okay I live in SOCAL so these temperatures are very comparable to what I experience. it all depends on the water temperature. I see you said 75-80 degrees. It all depends on your night-time lows and the water temperature dropping at a steady rate. Where i live (and your weather seems to be similar) I would suspect that you could perhaps be in a summer pattern still. Most of this fall stuff right now is only effecting the northern part of the country, but for guys like me in the southern region we are experiencing nothing in the way of change, Although It usually kicks around (for me) in about a month. the best part about summer to fall transition is you can try the summer pattern early morning for schooling bass, but if its not that good try the creek arms for baitfishy bites.
  11. Well, I think only do it if u have to with a psysicial injury or something, or if you are already good at bass fishing but I'd rather specialize in using right hand retrieve as a left hander and cast very accurately
  12. well depends on where you live, here in socal its still summer and they are in a summer pattern, but in about a month we should have "fall conditions" even though it is already "fall" it depends on water temp and how much the water drops at night. I cannot say you will catch bass doing any of the methods above because I dont quite know what your lake is like and the structure it has in it but, the best structure in the lake is the structure that has baitfish in it, If there is lushious healthy grass thickly matted and there is a twig with thousands of shad near the twig, Ill choose the twig. Finding baitfish with electronics is a good method, but also look for rings in the water, where the birds are, and in creeks and coves. if the baitfish bite dies off fish hard structure like rocks or wood or flooded bushes OR fish livley grass. Eventually livley grass wont be an option and you will fish the baitfish and hard structure, and as the baitfish bite dies down you will just fish the hard structure. Its a really simplified summary but its better to actually experience patterns rather than do research on them because it will make more sense after, if that makes any sense. right lol? I have found that alot of guys target the fish that the youtubers talk about but there are always fish not doing the patterns that are usually less pressured. You can always catch fish deep or fishing for suspending bass somewhere on the lake usually, and they are usually a little less pressured, although I dont tend to catch as many.
  13. your journey awaits, best of luck to you!
  14. So much good information on YouTube and the internet, if you think it'd worth it go for it, or you could also use that money towards gas and plastics to learn more through being out on the water and using information you learned for free
  15. It would be your right, I forgot to mention you have to buy it from a licensed pet dealer in another state, like a pet-co or person raising fish with a license privatley
  16. been hearing good things about the double fluke rig, may have to try it!
  17. yeah its becoming a problem, we need to get out of this drought and its getting really really bad for alot of the lakes down here in SOCAL, I think norcal is doing a little bit better but not by much, all the lakes that are near me are having clean water pumped in to keep them from basicially going dry, if it wernt for the enviornmental laws, quite a few of my favorite lakes would be drained. sadly, I do not think we will see a deluge this year, I hope im wrong but, I dont see it happening, california has a water crisis and its getting really bad, I think they need to build really deep resavoirs that get a LOT of runoff for them to maintain themselves, because all of my local lakes are taking a NET loss from the last few years.
  18. Yeah that sounds like what could of happened, here in california we arent allowed to transplant fish from one body of water to another, or even for our own pond or aquarium which is kind of silly, the only legal way to get bluegill in your pond or aqarium is to bring it in from an outside sorce like nevada or arizona lol.
  19. good to know, maybe ill use them this winter on the dropshot in baitfish oriented lakes Good to know perhaps I will try this next time I go out, Maybe a double rig wouldnt be a bad option either I will have to try these methods out! they could be pretty good on a split shot rig!
  20. so do you uh, perfer grinding through the smaller ones with average baits or just going for the bigger ones with swimbaits. Live out here in SOCAL and lots of big fish, but also lots of small fish lol, id say the big ones are harder to catch even if they are willing to eat in schooling mode because the small ones are faster and will steal ur bait, angering to watch in clear water lol
  21. So I have a TON of these 3 inch ultra realistic minnows for bass a friend gave me, when do you guys choose these baitfish over other baits? the only ways I thought they would be good is perhaps on a DS or on a jighead/weightless. Do you guys fish small lifelike 3-4 inch flukes on jigheads? how do they work?
  22. depends on water clarity, how much wind, brightness, time of day, and cloud cover, go from there, shady baits work very for 90% of fisheries, if yours is different throw baits that immitate the forage, so many good baits for schooling bass, throw everything because some bass will hit some things and some bass will hit others. topwaters will work good if water clarity is there and they arent schooling deep.
  23. To be completely fair I think alot of the "pros" can't either lol, to be in the status of producing fish constantly is insanity, and only a few of the pros I know can do it, but even some other pros like randy blauket talk about how they have no idea how guys like kvd and ike keep consistently. Yeah that also brings up a interesting point, these pros are great across the country but moreover, if you are anywhere in the age of 40+ and been fishing your home lake for 20+ years, maybe you could beat a pro in that condition because experience is strong, but is it strong enough?
  24. I'd agree, but even if I was a superstar in bass fishing, I wouldn't want to deal with the stress of constant travel and strain on family, I want to keep bass fishing about therapeutic stress relief and mental healing, not be causing the stress yknow. Kind of like basketball, there are a few guys that got drafted for the NBA but didn't want to play, I'm sure there are a handful, just not many
  25. I dunno because I have met a few superstars that are not pro's and if you really think I'm sure you have learned revolutionary information from superstars that are not pros as well, I have learned more from you guys, than pros I've spent hours to try to meet, maybe that's because yall are superstars and probably not pros, maybe the pros are superstars that don't share as much detailed information for fear of loosing an edge
