replacing hooks on spinner baits/crank baits with circle hooks
Hey, Does anyone have experience with using circle hooks as replacements from standard j hooks or treble hooks? I saw something that said they are not effective on spinner/crank type lures, so I want to see what the experts here think/know of it. Thanks as usual ?

Better size spinning reel for bass or general fishing
yeah, exactly, and I must not be paying attention but line twist? lol is this still an issue with the technology of spinning reels these days? ? I have been using my low/mid range spinning reel from Okuma the past few days and apart from the lure spinning rapidly from left to right when its already reeled in, I don't notice and issues with the mono itself on the reel. Think I purchased it 4 years ago. I thought line twist is when you put new line on the reel incorrectly?

Better size spinning reel for bass or general fishing
2500 is so close to 3000 in size, I would imagine the way that you use either would not be extremely different

Better size spinning reel for bass or general fishing
What do you guys think? I have decided on a new spinning reel, but can't decide between a 3000 size and 2500 size. Most of my fishing is for bass, but I catch other fish occasionally. What do you think a better size would be?

your first baitcasting reel
Nice story and reels, I would think they have significant sentimental value to you after all these years. I can't imagine the number of fishing memories you must have with them.

your first baitcasting reel
cool story, so what I'm understanding from a lot of people is baitcasters were around, but they were still fairly uncommon

your first baitcasting reel
lol yeah, I can remember a couple encounters back then. basically a lot of parents were having trouble with their kids because we were all getting addicted to the computer. I had one in my room already at that time, having fun waiting for the dial up to complete. You were old enough not to get sucked in I guess

your first baitcasting reel
nice, sounds like good memories to have been 20 in 1998. I was merely an 8 yr old kid lol, but still have a lot of memories. I'm sure you didn't get addicted to the computer at that time like I did, as that was a time when technology was really taking off for computers ?

baitcaster preference
I have the same but in 7.4 gear ratio. I was mad at myself because early this year I leaned it against the BBQ with a fish on the line, bouncing around and SLAM...left a couple nicks and wear on the paint finish. I am over it now but it took a few days, I try to baby my reels, and it was a very stupid action on my part

I notice a lot of people comment they have had both reel brands, and end up sticking with Daiwa lol. Why is this so for you anyway? clearly they are both high quality companies, but I'm curious to know...is it a special feature, or build quality etc?

Snakehead in S FL
A couple years back, a caught a snakehead in my back yard man made holding pond, I couldn't believe it. I was using a football head jig with a worm. Unbelievably, I took a few pictures on my phone, and I had an issue with the memory card and LOST them.. I was not happy to say the least. I was not aware they were in PBC area in FL at the time, as I know they are now! When I caught it, I was of course slowly dragging and hopping the lure on the bottom of the pond, near the shoreline when he bit. These fish are hard fighters, but I get the impression they don't like to chase lures/prey like bass do for instance. My question is, for you guys that have caught a lot of these fish, what advice/tips do you have for catching these? Is there only specific types of presentations these fish accept, or will they chase a spinnerbait? Please let me know your tips/advice

trying to sharpen hook points
I knew of this process, but I thought only the higher end hooks were sharpened that way and the lower quality were by machine. I might be living in the past times though, with todays technology I can completely see them being sharpened standard like that. you learn something everyday
