trying to sharpen hook points
I have never done this, mostly because even good quality hooks are fairly inexpensive so I just buy new, but I wanted to try and sharpen some of my existing points. What would be the most hassle free way to do this? can using fine sandpaper for metal work? or using some type of metal file etc? I do not have a bench grinder but it's probably over kill for small hook points for the fishing I do.

Fishing just for the heck of it
Good point, I also listen to music a lot while fishing, makes it that much better That is also a great point! just being able to practice fishing, and targeting spots..to challenge your casting ability etc

Favorite color rubber bait
Yes I do mean plastic baits, out of habit I still say rubber. Almost forgot I'm among fishing aficionados so I will be taken very literal! lol

Fishing just for the heck of it
Ok, I get what you mean, your out to get business done and if it doesn't happen your gone lol. Unless your with family as you said, to be outside and do things with the kids. Interesting to see what people think, and others like you have different factors like having kids, as I don't have any of my own.

Fishing just for the heck of it
Are you like me and just go fish sometimes to simply cast, enjoy nature/the weather, whether you catch anything or not? Sure, landing bass or other fish is great while your at it, but sometimes I find myself going out just to relax. Or do you feel that if you take the time and effort to get things ready to fish, you better be catching fish or you quit for the day. Interested in peoples opinions ?

Favorite color rubber bait
What is your favorite color rubber lure/bait, or what color produces best for you when bass fishing for example? For me here in FL, junebug color has got to be #1. Other good colors are black, occasionally white, and dark purple. I have noticed around here dark colors do well either in clear or murky water

Fooled by lure/hook snag
I agree with that, if you don't try to set the hook anyway you may just miss nice bass

hook wear
How often do you guys find your hooks getting dull from bouncing off the bottom, especially if it is rocky, using crank bait lures/setups? Do you not notice this much, or is the hook quality a big factor? What are your thoughts?

Fooled by lure/hook snag
what really does it for me is when it snags real fast but 2 or three times in a row, quick and sharp like, then I really believe its a fish. Thought it was a big one, only big disappointment

Hook change for spinner bait
Sorry yes it is rooster tail brand. For me, at least before I messed with changing the hooks out... it seemed like I never had to give it quick side swipe to get it going. Now it's hit or miss, either it starts going after the cast as usual, or I have to twitch it. Another thing that happens is when I cast the line gets under the blade, and then I have to recast because it impedes the spinning action. That does not happen too often though, it may be something I cant control anyway

Hook change for spinner bait
I recently decided to change a couple treble hooks out with single hooks on a couple rooster tail style spinner baits. The single hook I used looks comparable in size to the treble I removed, maybe slightly larger, but the spinning action does not work right. I have to constantly jerk it a few times to get the blade going. Is this a matter of a wrong hook size, or is a treble hook used standard for a reason because it is symmetrical? Also, would you guys know what good single hook sizes are good to use with 1/4, 1/6, 3/8ths etc?? any advice would be great, thanks

Fooled by lure/hook snag
Nice to see I'm not the only one who still gets tricked lol. I have to admit after it happens I feel a bit silly too, have a "how could I fall for that" moment

Quarantine
Customers do not want me in their houses these days so for me it is like a vacation. I can hold out for a while without work fortunately. Basically I have been fishing and exercising. Staying in the house can get boring at times, and certain stores not being open right now is also unfortunate but probably necessary. So otherwise a lot of computer and TV time

Fooled by lure/hook snag
Hey, Just curious, but how often do you find yourselves fooled by the hook briefly catching a rock, or lure making its way through grass and getting caught up? Sometimes it can be pretty convincing that it's a fish when it scrapes around. Even after 17 years of fishing I still get hit with that false excitement lol.. What do you guys think? Does this become less and less as you have been fishing many years, or does this not change for the most part?
