  1. You like to hunt deer. So do I. I waited seven years until I finally arrowed my first deer. A doe. I heard all the stories from friends, family, coworkers, etc. about seeing scores of deer, big bucks, seeing the trophy photos. Did I get down? Maybe a bit. But it made me hunt harder, and learn more. Then I started seeing bucks and arrowing them for clean kills. Were any of them P&Y or B&C caliber? No. Were they trophies? Absolutely. To me. Fishing is the same. I got away from fishing for 25 years. Just got back into it in 2020. Still learning a lot. But the learning is fun, whether I catch bass or not. Catching is more fun, but without learning the whys and how’s, it’s more luck than skill. I’m looking for skill.
  2. No pics ‘cause they were all 1 lb. dinks lol. Caught 10 and lost two. One of those was a dink. The other wasn’t. I’d say at least 4 lbs. I lost it on a wacky rig. That’s rare. It came out of the water facing me. I saw the gaping maw, the Senko went airborne and the line went limp. Lost the bass and the Senko! All-in-all, a good day. No topwater action. Everything was on soft plastics (90% on Senkos as WR or TR). Tried a chatterbait, a lipless and a spinnerbait with no bites. They were hitting slow baits today.
  3. I’ll be 62 in September. I had a bad fall in 2015 and broke two transverse processes in my left lower back. I don’t &$%#! about the pain from standing too long as hey, I can walk and talk and I’m not a para or quadriplegic…or a corpse. I sit 100% in my boat and 95% in a folding chair from the bank. It’s a limitation that I can live with. What has been bothering me is lingering pain in numerous joints that has persisted ever since I had COVID-19 in Dec-Jan. Especially in both my shoulders. So far it hasn’t affected casting but it is a major (no pun intended) pain when paddling my inflatable. Sometimes I wake up and am stiff and sore, but I fish anyway. Or bowhunt. One day I may not be able to do so. But as Aragorn said, “Today is NOT that day!!!!” Tight lines!
  4. I look at it like this. If I received a rod I did not order addressed as 123 N. BR Drive, and I live at 123 S. BR Drive, and I contacted the person who ordered it, I would expect them to say something akin to “Hey, thanks for the head’s up! Can I come over today or tomorrow at 5:00 pm and get it”? Not “ Hey, thanks for the head’s up! Can I expect you at my front door today at 5:00 pm to deliver it to me”? The company sent him a rod he did not order. He contacted them about it. The correct response should have been “Sir, we are expediting a return label to you. Please apply it to the shipping tube, and contact us when applied. We’ll arrange for the pick-up. And thank you!”! Certainly not “print this out and drop it off”.
  5. I think something that loose-fitting would be a hindrance in the long run. When idle it’s probably great. But when casting, fighting a fish, etc., my guess it’s more a pain than a godsend. Sister Bertrille is NOT happy! And I’m not happy I knew that with Googling it! ?
  6. Why not? I’m dated! I had one. Never caught anything on it, but I had one. Think I left a pork frog on it that turned into a block of shoe leather lol.
  7. A Johnson Silver Minnow with an Uncle Josh’s pork frog trailer was pretty much de rigueur decades ago.
  8. Yeah, I think your misread the OP’s post.
  9. That’s bad business right there. Don’t penalize a customer for a mistake YOU made. It’s mind boggling.
  10. 1- buy Hello Kitty rod and reel combo from Walmart 2- return Megabass rod in original tube to the retailer 3- receive phone call from the retailer asking why you returned a Hello Kitty combo; reply that you make mistakes as well 4- tell them to make things right, keep it!
  11. LMAO. You look SO short in that pic! I’ve seen way too many deer hunting pics to know that’s just perspective, but dayum, it’s funny! I watch your weather daily as my daughters live there. A few days ago we were within 2° of each other. Now it’s 75° here and 54° there. I miss the crabs but I’ll take the 75°!
  12. Smooth as glass. That’s my treasure. I don’t need no stinking wind! ?
  13. Right now it’s my Falcon Lowrider All-‘Round Fast LFC-7MHF. It’s my primary Texas rig rod.
  14. I think this thread was originated by the Bait Monkey, as now I want one. @Primus, I did some reading and it sounds (no pun intended) like most have commented on the sound difference between the original Vixens and the current ones. Whether that makes a difference to a bass is hard to say, but many seem to feel that the originals had a truly unique sound.
  15. Ummm….no. ‘Cause I reuse O-rings! ?
  16. Nice bass @hokiehunter373! Love that Senko!
  17. I have this old as heck hook sharpener that dates back to the 70s. It’s like maybe 2” long, and frankly, I never thought it did much good. And also frankly, new hooks today from most manufacturers are sharp as heck out of the package. But hooks become dull, so after viewing @Glenn sharpening video, I decided to purchase a new one. I bought a Lansky. Mostly for name recognition, as I am a hunter, and Lansky has a great reputation for sharpeners for knives and broadheads. It came today. At first glance I was not overly impressed. It looked functional, but nothing special. I tried it out on a dull jig and a sharp (but not scary sharp) Zara Spook. Keeping it at a 10° angle, it took only a few strokes for the point to dig into my fingernail. I’m used to having smooth patches on my forearm from shaving hair checking the sharpness of my hunting knives and fixed-bladed broadheads. Now I need to get used to gouged thumbnails. Those hooks got sharp! Not bad for $4.99!

Tough call, but I’d pick a Zoom Trick in watermelon seed.
  19. I still bank fish frequently. And I’ve probably caught more bass with a Texas rigged Zoom Trick, 5” Senko or Mann’s Jelly Worm than with any other baits. Mostly weightless TR’s with the Tricks and Senkos (Senkos I’ll fish with spinning or casting rigs-Tricks on spinning rigs), and 3/16”-1/4” oz VMC tungsten bullet weights and Jelly Worms on a casting rig. But I have stopped using round offset worm hooks. My hook-up ratio with 3/0-4/0 Gamakutsu EWG’s is on par with round offsets, but EWG’s has dramatically reduced the number of guthooked bass for me.
  20. I have a Fuego CT100XS on a Falcon Lowrider MH/F. I really like both the Tatula and the Fuego. Maybe (maybe) I get a little distance from the T-wing, but I also get a great cast from the 705CB, so it’s likely a wash. I’d buy either again in a heartbeat.
  21. I have a Tatula 100H on a Dobyns Fury 705CB (MH/MF). It’s a great combo.
  22. O-rings likely aren’t needed on a Z-man, as they are tough. I use them on Senkos, as one bite on a Senko can rip it up if hooked directly through the bait. I don’t use a tool. I simply start at the narrow end and roll it up the Senko to the halfway point. I use 1/4” I.D. O-rings.
  23. It works well on mine. I have 10 lb. Big Game on two baitcasters and it works great.
  24. A pair of women's panties. Like XXXL. Lacy, too!
