  1. Spiderman is decent but Big Bird has that price point on lock. Once he gets proficient with Big Bird then investing in the Sponge Bob outfit wouldn't be as much of a risk.
  2. Both are great, but IMO the SC warranty makes it an easy decision.
  3. Well since its a 6.2 you cant throw plastics or jigs. The 2 fish a year that you may or may not lose when they charge out of cover before you set the hook should motivate you to pigeon hole certain ratios to certain techniques.
  4. It depends on the power and action of the rod. A light moderate rod isnt likely to be of any use when using baits over the suggested rating, as long as the ratings are accurate that is. Just because a rod says it can handle a certain weight may not mean that its an ideal rod to use for that weight. I have a couple older GL2s that are M MF, but really M+. Their weight range is 3/8-1 3/8 or 1/2, which is far too heavy IMO. The rod may be able to lob that weight without folding, but actually working walking bait or anything over 3/4 makes the rod feel 2 whole powers light.
  5. There could be around the rear hook hangar or somehow the magnet isn't functioning properly.
  6. 3 G finesse nano trebles in #4 or 5 works. You have to snap that transfer system back into the head of the bait in order for it it to be nose down.
  7. BPS used to have some good sale prices on Seaguar FC, but not anymore. When a new reel is set to come out they will liquidate their existing stock sometimes almost a year ahead of time, but they dont always advertise it. They did it with the Ballistic Ex for 100$ the previous Curado 70 was 150$ and they had the CI4+ for 150$. The only thing BPS really wants to push is their brand, because that's what they have the highest profit margins on.
  8. MLs are perfect for those JBs that are just too light to be used on most casting gear. MLs are great for those light weight high drag balsa baits like shad raps. Once I need a M power rod for FW purposes I find M casting gear is more versatile then spinning and just more fun to use IMO.
  9. As long as that screw isnt too far out it shouldnt contact the inside of the handle as it is recessed.
  10. Owner makes a good one
  11. You ever try a Rozante 63? Its close to the 65sp but the rozante has a weight transfer system that makes it cast really well. They come stock with #10 spearhead hooks. Its a slow float like the vast majority of other sp labeled JBs. If you swap out the 10s for #8 ryukis its much closer to a true suspend.
  12. The Duo Speahead Ryuki #8s are what you want for the 65sp. The Spearhead hooks are kind of hard to find, the hookup might have them. If you just to stick to TW then go with Ichis. Ichikawa makes an excellent light wire hook in a round and ewg style as, but I dont know the exact size of their #8. Those hooks would work well for lighter cranks or topwater that you would throw on spinning gear or light casting gear. With bigger cranks I definitely prefer short shank trebles or round bend during the coldest parts of winter.
  13. I get what youre saying, but Rapala has some decent plastic baits. X rap family, Shadow rap/shad and all of the traps are plastic.
  14. Its 10 a pack for 2.5 SI
  15. If youre just fishing for fun and weighting them to the nearest 1/4lb increment then the Boga is the way to go. You buy 1 and as long as you dont drop it overboard or leave it somewhere it will last for the rest of youre life.
  16. I agree. The Tatula is my favorite spinning rod for sure. I would have bought some elites but theyre hideous. The cork helps, but it doesnt help all that much. Daiwa knows how to make a beatiful rod, just look at the rebellion. I wish they would go to a darker grey almost like the Victories.
  17. I like a snell on a straight shank because it makes everything streamlined. The tag doesnt catch grass and the weight isnt constantly beating up the knot, since I rarely use a peg. I dont know if the whole cam action theory is correct in real world scenarios, but it sounds good lol.
  18. Daiwa has set the bar high yet again with what may very well be the ugliest Tatula since the last gen.
  19. I really like the DMT sharpeners, they're incredibly handy. They dont last very long, so I only use them while im on the water, at home I use a stone or file. I got some of the cheap little files and they work just as well although they arent as handy.
  20. Well in the case of the D walker youre actually going to save money especially if you can get them on the screw lock right. They can take a beating compared to a keitech. The swammers are very soft, like keitechs and they dont have the durablity of the Dwalkers, but they have great action. The swammer bodies are solid, so once the head splits, I just paste it up with mend it and throw it back on. You might get much better results durability wise since youre using a jig with a screw lock.
  21. I fish water like that isnt good for jigs too. While you arent going to find a jig that comes back clean 100% of the time you can do a few a things to minimize the amount of times you have to pick it clean. When Im using a full size jig thats 5/16 or heavier Im casting at target that is holding fish, like a laydown or stump. I do drag jigs in lakes that have a harder bottom, but I keep the weight of the jig as light as possible, usually 1/4oz no heavier then 5/16, which is plenty of weight for the depth I'm fishing. For the non football dragging jigs, I look for jigs that have a flatter head arkie style head that spreads the weight out. It kinds of acts somewhat like a snowshoe when its sitting on an algae covered bottom instead of sinking into it. In combination with the head shape I look for a recessed, semi recessed or small eye.
  22. Easy Shiners will catch fish, but they dont have very much roll, although IMO the SI fats dont have a ton of roll either. My top 3 are probably the Swammer, Dwalker and Zoom swiming super fluke. I think all of them have more roll then a SI fat.
  23. The reason I used line as an example is because the qualities in my mind are a little more tangible then some other products. Like anything else if you don't use it correctly you're not going to get a good return from your investment.
  24. Most reviewers are subconsciously comparing the new line to line they use more often. The line may not be very stiff, but if its not a as limp as the line they are used to using they are going to say that the line is stiff on the review.
