  1. I'll use a paddle tail on a swim jig, but don't like them as trailers on anything else. Menace for the chatterbaits and a single tail grub for spinnerbaits.
  2. OP is asking about reeling, not casting...
  3. I have enough problems trying to decide what to throw with only three rods.... if I had any more I'd drive myself crazy...
  4. Fair!
  5. That's like, the dumbest thing I've ever heard...
  6. How does he fish a spinning reel with the bail removed?
  7. Small plastic, small jighead, drag or let it glide along the bottom, lots of fish...
  8. Daiwa AirD-X 7' Heavy - $49.99 Daiwa CC-80 HS- $49.99
  9. I can't imagine why this technique would be outlawed
  10. Thanks JJ- that's good to hear as I'm not sure I want a true H/F at that short of length, but I wanted something a little stouter than my 6'10" Tatula MH/F rated 1/4 - 1 oz to use for Frogs especially. I think the biggest thing I'd try to throw on it is the Miyagi Swimbait, which with a weighted hook comes in at 3/4 oz.
  11. Anyone have experience with this rod? What do you use it for? What would be a good use for it? It is rated 1/4 - 1 1/2 oz Fast for reference. I have to stick with rods that are less than 7' for storage on my boat and this one caught my eye. Braid and 1/2 oz jigs/spinnerbaits, frogs, bigger swimbaits were all things I had in mind for this, but looking for other options as well.
  12. Weird.. mine won't stay in place. I have them in every other slot so that could be a factor I guess, but it's annoying. Everything rubber tied is fine....
  13. I don’t have any desire to pack it full but it shouldn’t need to be to hold the jig in place IMO
  14. Not great for the jackhammers though. The bigger models might work but the wire tied 3/8 fall out of the slots. I stole some of my wife's hair tie's and run them over the arms to hold them in and that works. Or rubber bands I guess...
  15. Check out Yunique Baits....
  16. This sounds awesome- limit the amount of setups a team can have on board to add an extra layer of strategy. I like having guys pick their own co-anglers too. I know this was a “one tourney” type thing but those would be fun changes to make for a full season run of that style
  17. Get a marshall that controls the boat.... make em both go off the back, one on either side....
  18. Bracketed tourney- seeded 1-64..... 1 and 64 seeds go out in the same boat, they get one hour, biggest fish moves on...
  19. Is it though? I have rods in my boat, so if my wife takes the kids out swimming she needs a license to drive a boat with tackle in it?
  20. I’ve had dnr pull up to me while I was fishing on the river and ask for it… understandable. I’d be annoyed if I was out driving the boat and they asked for that though…
  21. Why would they check your angling licenses if you were driving the boat?
  22. What's your best seller?
  23. Can't imagine casting distance being an issue. I had it rigged on a 1/16th oz head in my back yard and can throw it pretty effortlessly. How it will fish is another story- lighter than I'll use in real life when I pick up the right heads, but I did okay with it in a pool. It's completely different being able to see your lure though than it is going by feel. I think it's a big enough bait that I could upsize to 1/10th or 1/8th oz if need be and still get the desired action. Generally fishing in a bit of current, so may need to do that anyways. I have some 1/6 oz heads that I was fiddling with as well, seemed to work okay once I figured out how to get it to glide rather than just drop straight down. Kind of kicking myself for just testing things in the pool now, can really learn a lot about presentations!
  24. I had planned to use 20 lb braid- 12 lb fluoro leader. I'm using an HMX medium spinning rod. Heavier than what most would equate to a 'ned' setup, but I think it should work for that bait and hook....
  25. What jighead's do you like for that bait and what sizes? I'm leaning towards the Outkast perfect ned 3/32 in a 2/0...
