Why Are Shimano Fans So Hardcore?
I say that's BUNK!... In 27 yrs of working on/with Shimano and ordering parts. I have never found what your stating about immediate discontinuing parts for reels. Shimano has supported their series/lines for six yrs and more after a series has discontinued. Not to mention the crossover list that most reputible service shops have on hand. BUNK...

Abu Revo Gen 1,2,3 Changes?
Most all baitcasting reels have issues "casting light lures into brisk winds", even the BC reels built for light lines.Must be why god created spinning gear!... Tight Lines!

Vintage Ambassadeur 5000 D And Unknown Rod.
I have 2 of the old 5000D greenies. With the right rod they are a great cat reels. Some of our local stripper guides still use them. Really like the direct drive aspect of the reel, with heavy enough fish the crank system on the reel can become a knuckle buster.. Have fun with it... Tight Lines!

Speed Spool Worm Shaft Coming Loose?
All of the older speed spools had a screw on both side of that stabilizer bar holding it solid.... Now days they could have changed the design to have an E-clip on each side holding the stabilizer bar solidly. You would have to remove the side plates and check the frame to see for sure.... Good Luck & Tight Lines!

Drag Grease
Gear grease (HotSauce, Blue Grease from Daiwa, Super Lube, etc.) is not good on drag pads Dartanium/Carbontex or otherwise.... Cals is manufactured for use with drag pads (can be found at Smoothdrag.com), Shimano has a Teflon drag grease (can be obtained from lots of sources) dedicated for drags only. Good luck & Tight Lines!

Is This Salvageable?
I agree 100% with Mike, there are lots of gotchas... "Remember It Isn't Rocket Sience" LOL love those quotes, from the peanut galleries... All the time I have spent servicing reels (3 decades now), there isn't a vid out there that doesn't have a few of them I know of that were left out, and, only because the producers of the vids haven't run into them. Tight Lines All!

Abu Garcia Revo Toro Making Alot Of Noise
Mike, Just a thought here. What if the shims were installed in an un even orientation, 1-2, 2-3, etc. That would cause the spool to sit into the race deeper on the left side than needed. The way it sounds now seems like the Cast Control hasn't been set up properly (No Lateral Play). Tight Lines!

Curado 50E Makes Squeaking Noise
JF could it be...The bearing at the base of the crank shaft, or the bearings/post in the paddles. ... Tight Lines!

Curado B Parts
The reels were discontinued in 1995. I have one 5.1:1 right hand gear set in my parts bin, hard to find but can be found. The 3.8:1 gr is great for really deep diving cranks 20'+, but for a more general gr 5.1:1 you need to replace the gear set with; Main Gear BNT1213 approx. $16.00 Pinion Gear BNT1225 approx. $14.00 The gear set can also come from the 250 Calcutta.... Good Luck & Tight Lines!

Curado 200E7 Casting Distance
Save your money, if you know how remove and flush the palming plate, cast control cap, and spool shaft (if there is one behind the engagement pin) bearings. Then one drop of quality oil into each bearing pack and you should see as stated "a night & day differance".If you aren't mechanically inclinde to do so then send it off to Mike (DVT). Tight Lines!

Curado
Shimano has used the word Bantam on their LP reels forever. Bantam is Japanese for (small). Tight Lines!

Can Gear Ratio In A Baitcaster Hinder Or Benefit Casting Distance?
No....It would have more to do with the quality and placement of any bearings in the spool support area of the reel. FYI Most LP (low profile) baitcasters gearing dis-engages when in free spool. BUT There are the infamous Garcia round reels (and some others) that do use gears to drive the casting abilities of the reels. Tight Lines All!

What Kind Of Reel Lube Do You Prefer?
27 yrs reel servicing. We use our Lithium Gold Grease, have recently added Cals (depending on the regon the reel is in). Oil is our RM reel oil (same viscosity as Shimano's) ... FYI only use Quantum HS in Quantum reels!!! Tight Lines All!

Odd Noise: Orra S
That could be the rotor and spool rubbing, or remove the spool if the sound continues it is the rotor rubbing the frame.Either way take/send it back for a return. Good Luck & Tight Lines!

Pfluger Supreme Xt Clicking
Just a thought...First check all screws make sure they are tight. Then follow the slow rotation of the crank paddel and bail arm/wire area, to see if they are making contact when cranking. It might also be the tension on the line against the line rollor, pulling the bail and helping the bail arm or wire to make contact with the handel/paddle....

Problem With My Revo Winch..

Cleaning Baitcast Rod And Reel.
You bet. Take soft cloth with fresh water, wipe down the oustide of the reel, dry with another soft cloth. If when you crank it you feel grit then have it serviced. Take the same cloth and freshwater wipe down every inch of the rod, dry with soft cloth, at the same time you can use a mister clean eraser to clean the cork on the grip. This is also a good time to check all of the guide rings using a Q-tip and running it around the inside of the shock ring, if there is any damage it will show in the form of white fibers sticking to the ring. If one is damaged have it replaced imediately. Good Luck & Tight Lines!

Correct Installation Of Abu Garcia Axle Clip (Pn 20090)
Set the flat side to the shim.We have found that using oil in the cap can cause the plastic to weaken. The spool shaft doesn't turn we never add oil to the shim inside the cap. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
