  1. X3 like stated spot on!
  2. If those Curados and Chronarchs, have been serviced and stored properly there is NO reason why they wouldn't perform as well if not better than some of the newer reels in the same models. If they seem sticky to you when in your hands now, have them serviced and they will be just fine. No need to rush out and place new money (especially in these times) on gear you may not need.. Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  3. Ricardo Glz Any kind of signatureing or personalization of rods today can be done 2 differant ways. The first being with your best handwriting (in a steady hand), a very fine brush 000, and paitenance. Take many tries to get it right, and must be covered/protected with a finish. The easiest is decaling the rod. Here is a link to an artical on the subject from the decal company I have used for 15+ yrs of custom rod building. http://www.decalconn...dmaker_mag1.htm Good luck with your endevor.. Tight Wraps Builders!
  4. With 27 yrs in service, I would say it this way Tight Lines!
  5. The tech on the phone was telling the truth, the oil included in the box is a mineral oil.Daiwa does the same thing only colors it red... As stated there is no magic, and nothing that actually makes any lubrication made strictly for the fishing industry. The key is to get the bearings flushed and re-lubricated properly... Tight Lines All!

    X2..
  7. Loop_Dad, A question comes to mind. Are you right or left handed. Just from your post I would say left handed, the rod feels better in your left hand. Even though you cast from the right side. You hook set left handed, and only crank right handed. Switching to the left hand cranking in BC reels is when your right hand is the power for casting, fish fighting , hookesets, and cranking. It is called Powerhand casting... Take the reel back and get you a right hand reel, and enjoy fishing again... It's that easy.. Tight Lines!
  8. papajoe222 15 yrs custom builder. When setting up the tension on my wrapper, I use just enough tension to make the thread sing slightly when plucked with my burnisher. Not sloppy lose, but not tight enough to strecth the threads fibers either, is good. The thread does hold the guide in place, and the finish protects the thread. It does take some practice getting the tension just right, to your way of wrapping. Good Luck & Tight Wraps!
  9. Hey Arv, Here's a thought NIB from Ebay, doesn't mean the same as NIB from BPS etc....
  10. The break in tolerances, as the reel starts to break in, tolerances change. If yours wasn't binding, i'll bet just got lose on one side of the set plate.... Tight Lines!

  19. You need to get to this forum......................http://rodbuilding.org/list.php?2 Good Luck with your endeavors...
  20. I agree the fingers must have the proper pressure for the yoke to help engage the pinion with the engagement ring on the spool over the bearing.. We have found that if you have the cast control cap overly adjusted (tight ) that it pushes the spool to the left helping cause the issue (the engagement ring disengages the pinion). again the pinion gear engagement slots are probably worn, (you might try turning that engagement ring over)....
  21. Kevinator1, Check the pinion gear. The engagement slots (area were the spool shaft engagment pin engages the pinion gear) must have rounded out, and, the pinion yoke springs could have weakened,. There is a fix (very carefully use a micro file to sharpen the edges of the slots), or if not that mechanically inclined, send it in for a yoke spring, and pinion repair or replacement...
  22. A poll between Shimano-Loomis & St Croix..... The obvious quality builder is St. Croix...
