  1. Thats called "Power Hand Casting" left hand hard rod work done with the strong arm/hand, light work cranking done with the right. Im right handed and use the right arm/hand for the rod work, and the light crank work for the left.
  2. Try keeping the lures you throw on that rod in the rods lure rating range. Min 5/8 oz. lure rating and your casting 1/4 oz. your going to have nothing but trouble with a heavy action rod. properly balanced tools for the job... Just an old rod builders .02¢ Tight Lines!
  3. Don't know what that is about, mostly a BC user. When I load the boss' spinning rigs, I don't worry about line twist from the filler. I always place the lined spool front side down into a small bowl. Then poor some almost hot water slowly into the bowl and to heat the fresh laid line. I let it sit for about 15min, dry the spool and then line her rods. This is how I reset a new memory in the line. Been doing it a good long time. Tight Lines! Edit: I should have noted that it is only Mono I do this with.
  4. brake down of a reel isn't something you can discribe in a forum..... I would recommend that you take the reel in for service through your local service people, and, avoid any issues lake of knowledge would set up.. Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  5. No but I have 28 yrs in reel service. YES replaced that reel! Probably never should have been sold, if it was purchased last Dec. it is under warrenty and returnable. The min. he opens the reel the warrenty would/could be voided. I say return/replace the reel.... Tight Lines All!
  6. As I replied earlier. sounds like weak pinion yoke springs allowing the reverse tension from fish on, and lack of smooth drags working, to release the reverse tension on the pinion and yoke from any fight. This will cause the pinion and yoke to jump and dissengage the pin and allows the spool to reverse. IMPO That reel will have to be replaced or repaired, no getting around it... Tight Lines!
  7. Sounds like the pinion gear jumped the engagement pin on the spool shaft. Usually will happen to a BC reel with super tight set drages, using a non stretch line, with weak pinion yoke springs. Just an old service techs .02¢ Tight Lines!

  13. If you get another dud from the same store I would start looking at a different brand maybe move upto the Shimano/Diawa brands That many duds from the same store they are likely placing the duds back into the inventory. Just my .02¢
  14. 6.4:1 GR is a good all around gear ratio for most all techniques IMO except cranking (anything above 5.1:1). 6.2:1 - 6.4:1 was the common gr until the super high speeds took over for turning heads quickly... tight lines!
  15. X2+ Total Balance...
  16. Is this a spinning or baitcast rod??

Will, That is a great look at an artisan's work station... As a retired custom rod builder and busy reel service tech I understand the need for the orginized work station. Tight Lines!
  18. Service shops have been ordering and seeing packageing that way now since first of the year. Watch out for your price increases to pay for that waste. We have talked to the service dept guys, and the prob is in the shipping dept. Probably a new UPS contract. Tight Lines All!
  19. Not the Cast Control Cap, it's the mag adjustment dial.. because the reel has a 2 piece spool shaft I don't think the problem is the shim under the CCCap. IMO I think the mags dial for the spool braking has lost it's setting. The mags can and do jump teeth on these reels and they lose the factory mag zero setting. The only way to get the settings back is to send the reel into Daiwa and tell them the mags dial is no longer adjusting the braking on the reel. Some service shops can zero adjust the mags but they really have to know their stuff...... Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  20. As posted make sure the line is riding ontop of the line roller. Also check to make sure the line isn't wrapped around any of the rods guides. When you remove the spool and check the cranking if it is smooth then check back from the reel to the rod tip for line binding.... Tight Lines!
