Reel Maintenance?
Dependant on how much I fish in a month. Heavy tourny months I will service mine after the tourny run. Slow fishing seasons I will service in the spring, and, again in the fall for winter storage. For most anglers I recommend a pro service at least once every spring........ Tight Lines!

Shimano Reel Help
Chris, Did you by the reel used? The reason I ask is there shouldn't have been a mix on the drag pads I wouldn't grease anything in that reel with Hot Sauce, especially the drag pads..... As stated Dartainium pads do not get any lubrication. The Carbontex pads can be run dry or lubricated (as stated on the packageing). Use either Shimanos drag grease or Cals Drag/Gear grease... Browning Ultralight Binding
You probably lost a washer/shim for the spool when you removed it. The reel is a propriatary reel I believe, sold in combos only, no schematics I know of away from the papers in the box or clam pack. All of the listing I have seen for that reel are BPS R/R combo's. If it is from BPS then, I would contact Outdoor World Rod & Reel Repair for more info on schematics and parts. Trying To Get Into Custom Rod Makeing Any Advice
Like downeaster2010 I had to give up after 15 yrs building the eyes are very important...LOL While Dale is a premier rod builder, I would say that the book is a bit to advanced to start with. My recomendation would be to purchase the book Rod-Building Guide by Tom Kirkman read it cover to cover, then log onto his website...... http://rodbuilding.org/list.php?2 Rodbuilding.org Read everything there, signup and ask lots of question. Thats how you get started..... Good Luck & Tight Wraps!

How To Remove To Spool Pin Without Special Pliers?
When it is the $50.00 - $60.00 or so to replace the spool screwed up bearings and gears, and you don't have the coin. It fast becomes the end of the world.... A good rule of thumb to follow. If you have never opened up a reel to service then don't. unless you have someone with the education/knowledge to back you up with support......

How To Remove To Spool Pin Without Special Pliers?
Not looking for you to EDIT your posts. ..... But yes I have seen this procedure go very worng. Gripping a engagement pin with standard pliers will place the worng angle pressure on the pin and can cause the bend in the spool shaft. It doesn't take much a small +/- change in the angle/tolerance's of the shaft and your done. Not only did the owner of the reel bend the spool shaft and outer edges of the spool race, but the engagement pin and then went ahead and used a file to work on the spool shaft. It only takes once.... Good Luck & Tight Lines!

Lubricating A Baitcast Reel?
Looking at the 1600/3600 schematics, you have 4 bearing packs that need deep cleaned. The reels have a plastic tab that holds the spool shafts adjustments, that do dis-engage and cause loss of casting adjustments. Gun oil REM can b used, so can sewing machine oil, but there are tons of quality reel oils on-line at different websites... Good Luck & Tight Lines!

Spool Bearing Stuck In Spool
In my shop I have placed in a small shallow bowl, some WD40, and laid the spool stuck bearing side down in it to soak for awhile. Then placed the dowling through the oposit hole (idler gear side) and tapped the backside of the bearing and it would slowly release. If it didn't release the first/second try keep trying, or package the reel up and send it into to be serviced... Good Luck & Tight Lines!

Spool Bearing Stuck In Spool
Probably some rust or corrosion causeing it to stick. Make sure that the keeper ring has been removed. Removed the engagement ring (w/brake blocks) then the bearing should come out easily. If it doen't get yourself a 1/4" wood dowling and remove the white idler gear from the other side and insert to tap the bearing lightly to get it to come out. Good Luck & Tight Lines!

Citica 201E Loose Drive Shaft
There is NO such thing as a perfectly tight (no slop) reel. They all have +/- tolerances used in their individual assemblies NO getting around them... As stated by Mike "each part is there for a reason".. Tight Lines!

Citica 201E Loose Drive Shaft
At the end of the crank shaft under the BNT3485 idler gear you should have BNT31 bearing pack, BNT3130 washer, BNT686 e-clip holding it all together. If you don't have them like that you need to get them there... Good Luck
