  1. X2............. If I wanted anything more than gloss black or matt black, that is the blank mfg that I would contact. They will also do custom color on runs... Tight Lines & Tight Wraps!
  2. No matter what brand of reel your wanting to mount on the rod........ The smart thing to do would be to take the rod with you and mount the reel on it before you by, to see first hand how the system will feel in your hands... Tight Lines
  3. I wouldn't if you have never built a rod of any kind... You don't just buy a can of Fusion and spray the blank. It is a butt load more involved than that.... You will have to CAREFULLY remove all guides and wraps/finish. The blanks finish has to be CAREFULLY removed, you will have to use the step method of sanding start low (400) and end fine with the grit numbers (800 or better to finish). Don't work to course on the blank, groove the graphite when removing the old finish, and your rod is toast... Once the blank is painted dried and ready, you will need to re-wrap the guides back on and finish their wraps.... Good Luck & Tight Wraps!
  4. Take yourself over to Rodbuilding.org and ask this question there... http://rodbuilding.org/list.php?2
  5. I remember the first bunner from Daiwa in the early 90's.... PT33SH Weight: 9.3 oz Ratio: 7.1:1 Tight Lines!
  6. In the 70's they sold on end caps for 19.95, today at Cabela's the 33 classic is 27.99 For them to be worth anything, Zebco would have to STOP production on the reel/s.
  7. I would take it in a heart beat..Good all around work horse of a reel... Peace & Honor
  8. I also agree with Mike.... But I would add taking the rod you intend on mounting the reel on (no matter spinning or baitcasting) with you (most tackle shops and big box stores will allow you to do this). Just to get a feel of how the system (system = rod & reel) will feel in your hands.. Good Luck & Tight Lines!

  10. Me to wondering if with 1/4oz weigth is the rod tip not loading up. ... What is the rods power (mh, med. etc), and the tip action (moderate, fast, extrafast, etc.)
  11. X2 Also an excellent way to get into an anglers wallet...
  12. Great.............. Make sure you keep it were you can find it, whenever you need to work on the reel.... Tight Lines!
  13. What yr did you purchase it I have the schematic's for every Shimano reel mfgd from 1987 to 2005. I have located all kinds of Symetre Fi, Fh, etc. designators but no Syemtre Fj designators.... Tight Lines!
  14. Look to see if the reel has a friction ring on the front of the body, just under the rotor. On the 4000 it is part number RD6132 it is the reason most reel free swing like yours.. Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  15. Small nicks over time are the main reason for a rod tip failure.
  16. it is personel preference Just depeneds on how fast you want to turn a fighting fish's head after hook up...... Tight Lines!
  17. $50.00 is a great deal. CU200DHSV D=Reel Series HSV= High Speed Version
  18. I think it is a matter of personal preferance as to when maintenance is needed. IMPO the reel should be fished/break-in for a season first, this finds any issues that might arise............. Tight Lines!
  19. 8- finely tuned/upgraded 1997 CU 201B's truly do wish I had each one back......
  20. TrippyJai is right..... There is a heavy coil spring under the drag star that keeps upward pressure on the star and star drag click pad just under the handle. Remove the handle nut cap, then Crank the drags all the way down. Now using an 11mm nut wrench tightn the handle nut and replace the cap. The slight wabble of the handle should stop, the drag star will still wobble slightly... Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  21. Don't like using the BPS links.. The line up I stated is from the St Croix Premier casting rod page of the on-line catalog... http://www.stcroixrods.com/product/premier-casting Tight Lines All!
  22. No differance between a trigger rod and a crankbait rod, both have triggers on the reel seat. That is a store, not factory designation.. Actually the only rod out of that link that is a Moderate Fast Tip action is a 6'10" Heavy power rod.. PC610HMF The majority of the tip actions are Fast, and the majority of the rod powers are Medium to Medium Heavy.. As a custom rod builder that builds only on St Croix blanks, I would recommend for shallow running cranks a 6'6" to 7' Med Power, Moderate Fast tip to a Medium power, Fast tip. For plastics a good 6'6" to 7' Medium Heavy power with a Fast to Xtra Fast tip action... Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  23. 28yrs servicing reels, I stand by what I said. ..............
