  1. We have seen this on the newer Citicas in the shop. The edges of the blocks like to crack and break off, keeps them from locking in the off postion.... BNT3505 = reds BNT2575 = grays Good Luck & Tight Lines !
  2. No sir it is a resource site has many forums, this thread is located in the Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, and Knots forum Located inside of the bass recource web site.........
  3. For deep cranks DD22 etc. I prefere a MH/M in 7' - 7'6" setup with a 5.4:1 GR super upgraded/tuned...
  4. Nope they aren't the only one....Just the only original mfg of rods that is..No company sale to an umbrella Co.... We all know buy now Shimano got a great deal on Loomis rods, when Garry was diagnosed with colon cancer he needed money for treatment. Shimano has never treated the rod side like Garry did.....
  5. My shops most common area of "causes for the squeaks" Cranking: crank knob bearings bushing/bearing at the base of crank stack Casting: dry spool support bushing/bearings lose brake pins "centrifical brakes" making contact with brake race "look for groove worn into brass ring" There are a butt load more causes, but as Mike stated "It's hard to diagnose without seeing it. "........ Tight Lines All!
  6. LOL.....engineering huh it's a wonder they haven't tried bringing them back on the Revo... Tight Lines J
  7. Don't like either they are cancer causers... I use Safety Kleen....
  8. X2..... My favorite blanks to build customs on... Tight Lines!
  9. X2 He does have the gears...
  10. It is what is called a re-branded reel. It may have been manufactured by Daiwa but they don't support most of their re-brands..... The schematic was part of the manual in the box/bubble pack... Because it was manufactured for BPS, I would check with Outdoor World Rod & Reel Repair for parts/info for any BPS branded reel/s... Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  11. X2 IMPO those reels when new, weren't worth more than $60.00ea.... even new in the box buying today I wouldn't pay more than 25.00ea. Also why haven't the mods here placed this thread in the proper forum?
  12. Yup the gears were well done. I was trying to be nasty in that reply, the level wind systems in the reels were a real joke some of the worst I ever serviced. IMPO Garcia never got the hang of a really good hassel free LP reel, even today............
  13. Yup those ABU XLT's are really good gear and should be easy to upgrade....LOL
  14. Then there are 3 fixs, one you go throught your local yellow pages for small mom & pop tackle shops contact and ask about rod guide repair. Another contact Mike here (DVT) and get his info, site sponsor. or try and set the rod aside for awhile and learn to repair rods yourself.... Tight Lines!
  15. ABU 5600C4 Mag not made for light line.... 10# min. Not to say it couldn't be setup for 8# line, but you must do a great job of spool drop rate setting and the casting mags setup. I would also check the min. line/lure rating on the rod and adjust if needed. Tight Lines!
  16. What a crock............... If you have never done a removal and replace/wrap of a guide I know it will take you much longer than 20 min to do. Hell proper cure of a thread coating will take at least 24 hrs. hooah212002.. Have it done by a pro/rod builder and you won't regret it...
  17. When my shop was still doing rod repair. A single foot guide replacement and wrap would have cost you $10.00per + price of the guide. Turnaround would be 24hrs from time I received the rod..... If you were local you walk it in.. If out of area then you pay shipping too & from + $10.00 per wrap + guide... Shop around!!! Tight Lines!
  18. What's The Purpose Of Brakes On A Baitcaster? They are a real good sales tool..... Before mags (80's & earlier) it was all centrifical/educated thumb, then someone complained about not having a good backlash control. Like good manufacturers, bam (automatic backlash control) magnetic brakes, and ever since it has been a sales tool to sell one mfg/series or another. Like Capt.Bob "The better your thumb is trained the less you will need brakes"....
  19. If you have the schematic. Remove the drag star, and check the drag spring washers (sitting in the drag star clicker) for their proper placement/orintation. I'll bet the drag star was removed and the drag spring washers have been re-installed in the wrong orintation.. Wrong = (( Proper = () Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  20. Your right on Shimano has had a problem with the spinning reels. What we found in our shop: Customer complaints binding when cranking....Hard to crank....Not cranking freely, etc. We found it to be the Friction Rings behind the rotor's. On the older reels it was a light weight black rubber ring (some part numbers below) they use behind the rotors to prevent rotor run away (free wheeling rotors's on casting, cranking, etc.) they tend to get soft in the heat of summer, and will lose shape and start to ball/bind up behind the rotor causing the binding feeling, when hit with water they bind hard and break up and turn into a hard ball behind the rotor. If this is the problem with your reel, 2 fixs: Remove the rotor and remove the old lose/balled up Friction Ring and leave the rotor to free wheel.. Call Shimano order a new ring, that are now a light blue silcon that doesn't change shape in the heat of summer. Symetre RD7804 Friction Ring Sahara RD6698 Friction Ring Stradic RD7804 Friction Ring etc................ Tight Lines!
  21. that is bad info there, and thats the main reason you were suprised at the drag star spring on your new Ch201E6...... Arv........Have a PRO do the first service so you'll know how the reel WILL truly fish/feel. Then learn to maintain the reel during the season..... Tight Lines!
  22. Sure can. I would suggest that you contact Mike @ DVT Delaware Valley Tackle. Get it deep serviced and brought back up to specs (discount for members), then go out and brake that puppy in.. Tight Lines!
  23. Sure can and the next time you open up the reel everything inside will be stained RED........
