  1. Have worked a few dedicated Stripper anglers reels from the east cost all catching 40+lb fish. ... They are all using heavy action rods with big Calcutta's 300-400B's for BC reels, and Stella's in the 1800SW for SP reels. So I would agree with what has been posted that med, and medhvy bass rods/reels probably won't do the trick.... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  2. From $170 down to $40 gotta tell you something. Direct drives suck. ... Even the best in reels wouldn't be direct drive..... Tight Lines!
  3. As a 28 yr service tech. Nothing wrong with older reels, they just tend to give fits when trying to make sure they have parts for support.... I have just finished up some (15) Bantams 10's, 100's, all X's, and SG's from the middle 80's. They service (clean/polish up) well but usable parts (pinion/drive gears, etc) have become an almost impossible find for them. Thats when the owner should be educated on what he has, and what the techniques for today will need. Most anything built back 6+ yrs, will be out of production nowdays, and, no reels today have over a 1 yr mfg warrenty. Tight Lines All!
  4. Not on any spin cast "Not Made For Braid", the pickup pin will not l;ast long with any braided line on a spincast....
  5. The drag system in a Z33 is crap, 1 plastic disk and one metal. 15lb, 30lb, fish on 10lb test maybe on a quality round reel properly setup. On a Z33 not likely. The back spin on your reels handle is lack of anti-reverse, try turning it on. If it is engaged and turning backwards the anti-reverse has blown. Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  6. X2 That grity feel after you set the reel down was probably from dirt/sand getting into the level wind. When you dunked the reel you forced whatever grit/sand that was on the externals inside. Now the reel will have to be properly broken down to the set plate, scrubbed out and reassembeld/lubricated properly. Tight Lines All!
  7. What materials are they testing, Aluminum Oxide, Hardloy, Alconite, Titanium, GoldCermet, Silicon Carbide?
  8. X2 Were you been hiding?
  9. Out of all the bearing packs that reel says it has in it.. I'm willing to bet the one causing you the most issue right now, is the bearing behind the engagment pin on the spool shaft if you have a bearing there. If not i'll bet it is in the frame right were the spool shaft runs through.. Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  10. Could have been a duel finish resin coat and the mark you see is from something touching the finish before the final coat. But as always when in doubt contact the builder... Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  11. X2 Lots of flex, 10 low tolerance BB's
  12. X2 I work with repainted Garcia reels all the time from Cali. Believe us tolerances change big time with over spray.... Tight Lines!
  13. and that's the truth..... Tight Lines!
  14. Put together a well balanced system rod/reel/line/lure. Learn the proper way to setup the reel with your balanced system. Then practice, lots of practice and more practice..... Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  15. X3 ...... What is happening is, the engagement slots in the pinion base are rounding out. Soon the reel will engage but any heavy back pressure on the spool (hookset or fighting), and it will jump out of engagement. The spool will turn backwards with a loud clicking... At that point pinion needs replaced, and possibly the spool, if the shaft and engagement pin has been damaged. Not a good pratice.... Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  16. Nope not salt rated.... I would hook up with a large Calcutta B salt approved... Tight Lines!
  17. When I was servicing reels at Bob' Pro Fishing Shop in Poway. The salt guys had me cleaning there reels after every outing, weither it be after half day or full day. The freshwater bass guys we serviced once every fall or spring... Tight Lines!
  18. SM = standard modulus IM = intermediate modulus HM = high modulus UH = ultrahigh modulus
  19. What Ci4 are you talking about?????
  20. This subject has been answered many times here in the past... Take a look at these thoughts...... http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/106207-question-for-rod-builders/?hl=%2Bim+%2Bratings Good Luck & Tight Lines!
