  1. Checking the Shimano Limited Lifetime Rod Warranty & One Year Rod Warranty I didn't read anything about adding a hook keeper to the rods were it would void the rods/factory warranty. If you used the Reeltime keeper set up and instead of doing a hard attachment with thread and finish and used just the tape (ease of removal for warranty inspection) I see no reason that the warranty would be voided. If the keeper is professionally wrapped and finished like the guides on the rod, I doubt that the factory warranty inspectors would notice it being there in a hurried day... Good Luck & Tight Wraps!
  2. this one? http://reeltimedesigns.com/DropShotWeightKeeperSystem.html I was going to wrap it with thread and epoxy but I kinda like the tape idea. I never thought about the warranty, but I guess you could just take it off before you returned or sent back the rod. What mfg/make of rod are you adding the keeper to? If you are real worried about warranty then you gould go with the Fuji® EZ Keeper.. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_58449____SearchResults Good Luck & Tight Wraps...
  3. Your looking for the Shimano CT200 set from SMOOOOOTH DRAG.. RM -
  4. Here is another version I use on any rod I build with a request for a Hook Keeper.. http://reeltimedesigns.com/DropShotWeightKeeperSystem.html Tight Lines!

  6. If you have the drags set and after the cast you don't hear/feel the reel click into gear when you crank the handle, then you have a re-engagement problem and the reel should be sent back/returned to where ever you purchased it from. An after thought....... What do you have it spooled with? Braid, Mono, etc. If you spooled braid did you place a backer on the arbor first? If not the line is probably slipping. If you spool mono and didn't get the knot tight on the spools arbor it could be slipping also. Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  7. Officially NO it isn't supposed to move in free spool. It has nothing to do with better casting abilities, or the fact that it is a LP reel or not. Garcia has played in the past with LP reels with move-able line carriages, and even line carriages that would separate and have no line carriage at all in the way. It is all just part of the history of LP reels for the maker of some of the best round reels fishing today...
  8. Not trying to make a fashion statement, just trying to catch fish! Matched in rod/reel weight balance, line and lure weight only. Tight Lines!!!
  9. The WalMarts here have started stocking Berkley oil & grease. As for degreasing parts I would recommend Reel Scrubber from Birchwood Casey. Any of the biodegradable degreaser's and HOT water will do the job also, and, won't hurt you or your environment... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  10. Take a Q-Tip and add a couple of drops of quality reel oil to it. Remove the AR Inner-sleeve, and run the oiled wetted Q-Tip around in the pins and re-place the inner-sleeve and you should be good to go until the next servicing......... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  11. Yea I do. But because your asking I'm assuming you don't. Don't take a chance trying yourself, you have a quality service outfit as a sponsor here send it to them and take advantage of their service... DVT... http://delawarevalleytackle.com/ Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  12. As I read jerkw8nonajerk01 post he mentions braided line. Wondering if anyone took this into consideration..... If he is using braid and trying to horse fish and slop then impo it doesn't matter how much drag you have on the reel if the braided line isn't backed and attached properly to keep from doing ANY slipping on the spool. The problem my not be drags but proper line setup. BTW most all Shimano LP reels depending on size, stock drag pressures measure at 10#'s up to 15#'s Tight lines!!
  13. The drag spring washers could be part of the problem, but I would check the whole crank stack to make sure the main pads, one way inner-tube and keyed D-washer main gear are seated properly on the crank shaft, the drag spring washers are in proper orientation (), and the clicker plate is seated properly before the crank is added. All it takes is placing the clicker plate on the shaft wrong once and tightening the handle nut, it will change the shape of the plate hole (eat up the edges), but it can be cleaned up and reseated properly, and then the handle can be placed and tightened.I see it all the time when anglers take the handles off. Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  14. Tighten bnt3473 drag star nut with the drag star until the surface of the drag star is slightly below flush with the ledge on the crank shaft that the handle assy sits on. Now replace the star drag spring, then the drag star (making sure it is seated properly). Now while placing pressure on the drag star and making sure the drag star is fully seated over the square nut (drag star nut), and making sure your clicker head and spring are in the drag star. Now add the bnt3208 star drag click plate and watch that you get it fully seated (it fits the crank shaft only one way). Now add the crank and tighten. If when your assembling this stack and get a lose handle when you add drag pressure you are not getting the drag click plate seated properly.... Hope this helps some.. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  15. I would agree with RW fine reels. Tight Lines!!!!
  16. Was probably one of the many another products with a name close to the Goo Gone, like Goo Off (very heavy in the skin irritation area).
  17. Take the reel back don't even mess with it. Sounds like the pinion gear and yoke aren't working properly, and the reel isn't disengageing fully... Just get a new reel... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  18. Adding a dash of either Shimano® drag grease or Cal's® gear/drag grease to both sides of the Carbontex pads will help if your getting sticky start-ups when fighting fish. It tends to smooth them out some... Running them dry if they sit for awhile between trips, they can and do get sticky... Tight Lines All!!!
  19. From the product website Goo Gone® made from natural citrus oils and *d-limonene, it is a extra-heavy duty industrial and institutional degreaser and cleaner. It's most effective on greasy, sticky problems such as masking tape, paint and varnish, gum, glue, grease and tar. Removes chewing gum, grease, tar, stickers, labels, tape residue, oil, blood, lipstick and mascara, shoe polish, crayon, bumper stickers. *d-limonene: d-limonene is the major component of the oil extracted from citrus rind. Probably the reason it lubricates the bearings after they are cleaned with the product. Bet it won't last as long as a quality bearing oil... The key to proper maintenance of bearings is to remove all oil and debris from the bearings before a re-lube oil is added. Just my old .02¢ Tight Lines All!!
  20. Fuji® Rod Tip Glue. But some anglers use a 2 part epoxy, some use super glue (none of these will allow you to easily remove the tip, if you need to change out the tip). You might be able to just heat with a lighter the tip top's tube, and slide it back on. Good Luck!.. 8-)
  21. See the black disk just under the handle. Press it down and then turn the handle off (counter clockwise) while you have it depressed...... 8-)
  22. Definitely would be a very good cat system.......... Tight Lines!!
  23. yea get the reels schematic and study it before you go any further. If you don't have one you can get one on my website, or mikes, or even the Quantum website..... The palming side is locked by the slider under the nose piece of the reel. Slide it toward the outside of the reel and twist the palming plate up and it should come off. If you have trouble twisting the side plate then back off the cast control cap and try again. Good Luck!
