Do you lap your scope rings?
Yeah they don't move and work perfect, gunsmith buddy has them on a 366DGW and a 416 rigby no hint of movement or slippage. I just mounted 4 scopes and did load work for last two days........ready for hunting season, bonus permits announced tomorrow online. Think I need to go fishing for a couple days next week and unwind Load ladder's for OAL and powder charge tuning wear me out for multiple cartridges but its over now.

Are There Many Maine Fisherman On Here?
Thank you all for letting me know Maine is represented on here Heard the Andro is pretty good for producing large smallies, anyplace that does that is good in my book. Dave

Do you lap your scope rings?
I use a lot of burris signiture Z rings with inserts so haven't had problem's, they also come in offsets to keep adjustments near the center and they don't slip or mar the scope. Do have a set of talleys on one gun but no problems. Dave

That's some tough line
Invizx and Tatsu are strong FC lines! I caught a smallmouth the other day and pulled him thru and then up and over submerged tree limbs to get him. If they don't get me wrapped around the wood I can usually get em' out. Sorry for pic quality I'm still getting used to selfies........pulled this largemouth out of a treetop yesterday morning he made a straight run into............ Dave

What should I have Done...?
Good Advice you would be surprised the small bass that grab 5" sluggos and senkos. Don't worry throwing bigger baits when its bigger bass thats the target, current is your friend, throw to the edge of it or where it passes any type of cover. Dave

Finesse Observation
I use medium action rods with small spinning reels spooled with 8-10# clear fluro. Heres my idea since stickbaits with their darting movement on twitches and tail wiggling slow drop are so deadly on bass, try the 4" senkos and tie direct to line. 2/0-3/0 swimbait hooks with owner screw-loc's work really well, available already rigged or buy the hooks and locs and put em' together.

water clarity.
Good thread! I go by water visibility depth to get an idea, The last paragraph says a lot here, the sparkle and glitter especially with laminate baits seems to be where its at for me. Laminate plastics with a dark color offset by a light color really work good for me in constantly stained water, the flash of sparkles especially seem to add to the visual attraction. I don't use a single color anymore that doesn't use one or better both attributes for visual attraction. My 5 always rigged colors Junebug - Blk/Blue Electric - Rainbow Trout - Watermelon/Heavy Gold Sparkle - and Crime Scene all have sparkle and 3 of the five are laminates. Our water is always tannin stained (kinda like ice tea) and varies with runoff, 1-2' visibility common with 3-4' exceptionally clear, nothing like the gin clear water I fished in Maryland. The newer generation of colors and flakes have really made a difference for me. Dave

Central Maine Fishing Report
Yea the old Susky is world renowned for its fishing and runs from New York state down to the Bay. I used to live 30 min. away and fished it all the time. Above and below Conowingo Dam.

Are There Many Maine Fisherman On Here?
Well its sure good to see other Maine posters and members on here! Great place to live and fish, we spent the morning fishing one of the rivers and did very well. I'm straight out right now but will post some pics in the next day or two. Dave

Central Maine Fishing Report
Well my Son and I are debating whether to go to Pishon Ferry at Hinckley and fish the Kennebec or to put in the Sabasticook at Benton and fish down river. Will decide in the morning and do one or the other. Yes the boat is patterned after the ones they use in the upper Susquehanna in Maryland below the tailrace in the rocks, I was schooled and educated on that stretch. We can launch in 18-20" and the prop is protected, as well as a high set troller to move us around.

Central Maine Fishing Report
The rip/rap on the sides where the bridge crosses right down from the launch area can be very good early throwing to them and working down into deep water. I've seen 3 1/2 lb fish come off of there, The rocky side of the island on the small side can be good also. It gets a lot of pressure but most are not fishing for bass. Good Fishing we are going down to river above Waterville and look for smallmouth also. Dave

Are There Many Maine Fisherman On Here?
Just wondering we always seem to be in the minority on fishing forums....heck last site I couldn't find any I know the fishing up here is lighter pressure but worth it IMO. Curious I guess if many guys call it home. Dave

Rod/reel combos for soft plastics
I prefer as heavy a line as my spinning reels will handle due to extreme brush and heavy weed cover where we fish. Agree with Tom that .010 is about the heaviest line your spinning reel will function with without unspooling and casting distance hassles. I use dial calipers and check line for true diameter and also use line dressing (KVD) periodically. Being a FC user, tatsu to be specific I like and use 10# test which is .010 diameter. You can get by with 12# but stiffness and casting distance with unweighted plastics T rigged starts to become a little bit of an issue. I use 12# on one rig I use that I throw buzz and spinnerbaits with as well as jigs, I stay slightly lower on spool lip (1/8") and use KVD every trip even though its only .011 dia. it needs more care using. However when a big one runs for cover to hang me up I have learned to gently grip the spool and apply more drag, its something you develop a feel for and a fine line not to apply too much. Can't give advice on mono or braid as its been years since I used either. Good Fishing Dave

Big Bite baits yo mama and creature
Fish both big bite baits lures, they have a great color selection and are reasonable in price. They tend to be one of the tougher plastics for holding up as well. Krets Kreatures were always my favorite so when they discontinued I bought heavy and have several years supply. Brush hog style isn't quite as popular with me.....you tend to use what you have success and confidance with.

Zoom black light color
I think its more because they really look like a blacklite in color. I use RI sweetbeavers in blacklite and also use the backend as trailers. Like the color better than normal black with purple flake.

Creek Giant

Website for ethanol free gas locations
Sunoco gas does not use ethanol in any of their grades. It means if the station does normal business the fuel won't sit long in the tank. Here in central Maine Bears one stop in Newport sells 91 octane Sunoco for $2.64 @ gallon all day everyday. There is also a Citgo in center of Pittsfield Maine that sells 90 octane for $3.01 and does a pretty brisk business. Both are 1 mile or less off interstate #95 at about mile markers 230 and 240. Run it in both vehicles, lawnmowers, and boat outboard. Notice the thread is old but anyone coming to Maine or local to central Maine this is current 9-31-20 Dave
