  1. to be sure i am not missing anything in that picture^... i am pretty paranoid now after i saw the tiny piece that so happen to just show up on my table okay so i finally figured out that piece is the clicker for the drag, but i finally put it together 2 hrs later lol, and now i’m realizing when the drag is turned “on” u can press down and “move” the drag star around like it’s loose right? or did i mess up putting it together again
  2. so i need help , i took it apart and carefully but this tiny thing fell out and i’m not sure where it goes
  3. so just making sure it doesn’t matter which way the retrieve is the cap that you use a 10mm wrench with you go lefty loosey and righty tightly right, because this thing is beyond tight lol
  4. so i’m starting to take it apart now, and i took off the tension knob, is the lube supposed to be this milky color or is it because water got to it?
  5. so for sure no automotive grease and should i just stick to a simple cleaning for now like the shimano chart shows also for the end cap knobs to take it off i just pop off the covers and unscrew it?
  6. @MN Fisher honestly i guess as long as i stay with a brand name i should be fine, any a good amount of Youtube videos on cleaning and reassembling everyone SWEARS by a different grease and oil brand... also can you answer my other questions^
  7. @MN Fisher what grease should i get? I went to walmart and they had none at all, so i guess i’ll have to order or wait until i can go to dicks or bass pro. I have automotive grease at home from my dad since he works on his car, but i heard it’s too thick for reels? Also i’m gonna open up the gear side of the reel today since i have time, but if it looks good (no soup?) do i really need to clean and regrease it anytime soon? (on the flip side how would i know if the surface is slimy from the soup or grease ?)
  8. True that, when i take it apart i’m gonna line it up backwards, and right orientation so i can just work backwards putting parts in, but i have two sisters 3 and under and they always wants to help so that’s my biggest fear, my sister “helping me” put it back together ☠️ Pretty sure this came with the box, i can take it out and use that
  9. Hopefully it didn’t seep inside, but i’ll have to watch some videos then do a cleaning and greasing hopefully i don’t mess up, but i rather do it myself, i hate when i can’t do something myself i feel like someone else will forgot a part lol but that’s just me
  10. well i’m 16 and i’ve been dating the same girl since 13 so no chasing for me?, but yeah it sucks asking for a ride to go fish a new spot, hopefully i’ll have time to find a job and get a car to travel No there was none at the time, but do you think i’m fine, i rinsed the reel and wiped it down with a napkin and then used a warm wetted napkin to wipe it down and it feels how it did before, not all sticky and slimy
  11. Thanks, i’ll have to go buy some grease, but in the mean time, i cleaned everything i could and re oiled what needed oil, have to do homework now, wonder if it’s more difficult to find time to fish being a teen or an adult ? Ha, it’s one of my favorite fishing spots too, caught a few decent ones on a senko, made me feel better for the soup being spilled on it
  12. lmaoooo, i think it’s fine, my reel and rod was just super filmy from the fat in the soup it was like egg drop soup, i believe it was a adult party for someone’s birthday and i’m only 16 so i decided to just go fishing while they party thats y i brought a rod
  13. So i went to a party and someone literally spilled soup on my fishing reel and rod that was tucked away in the corner and the soup became gelatinous on the reel and rod, for the rod i just rinsed it down and dried it off and for the reel i rinsed it and opened the brakes and rinsed it down too, but somehow there’s some stuck in the handle, but i’m not sure if i rinsed it all out, anything else i should do, to be safe?
  14. wish i could go fish, stuck inside for online class lol
  15. So the ponds in my community are higher than usual since it rained in south florida for almost two days straight, does this mean fish are closer to shore since there’s more water? And is it a better time to fish? since all the nutrients and bugs that got flushed in when it rained? Also can someone explain to me when i know it’s a good time to fish like the pressure and etc of the moon
  16. oh didn’t even think of a toothbrush, thanks @Delaware Valley Tackle, i just took off some cotton of QTip and fitted it in
  17. hey @Bass_Fishing_Socal how do i clean this out
  18. @Bass_Fishing_Socal for the ‘shaft bearing’ i can’t find that on my reel
  19. wait so i don’t do what the shimano example shows? Also only fishing grease is safe @Bass_Fishing_Socal i probably said the wrong terminology, but i was referring to what you said before using the diagrams about putting oil on this and not inside the hole and cleaning the shaft and hole
  20. @Bass_Fishing_Socal thanks for clearing that up, so i should only oil the pinion gear and clean the inside of the pinion hole, lol i did the opposite i actually dropped 2 drops of oil in the hole and none on the actual gear, guess i gotta Q tip the spool shaft and the pinion hole of oil
  21. so you don’t know the answer? and do you mean send like irl for maintenance or DM him about it? i wouldn’t mind sending in the reel for maintenance every year
  22. @garroyo130 So i cleaned my reel yesterday quickly since it had lots of vegetation stuck on it and i followed this https://fish.shimano.com/content/dam/shimanosnaffish/shimano/support/maintenance-tips/Maintenance%20Tips-%20Baitcasting%20Reels.pdf , for the pinion gear was i supposed to put oil inside the hole or on the actual bearing part or both? because i only put it inside the hole
  23. Lol so today i tried a senko, lizard, trick worm, and ribbon worm for roughly 3-4 hours swimming it, hopping it and dragging it and i got only one bite and i reeled him in and right when he got to the bank and i was about to flip him he got off the hook and i watched as he swam away ?
  24. looks like the bellow gills, but a swim bait version, the bubble trail probably makes it great
  25. can you send me a picture of the split shot rig? i have split shot weights but i bought them thinking they were the same as the worm/bullet weights lol, also you don’t like using bullet weights on the t rigged lizards? also whenever i use weightless worms the legs and tail never moves ? i’ll try it, can’t hurt for a dollar a piece lol
