  1. So i’ve noticed on my first line guide closest to the reel it has a tiny tiny fracture where it’s held against the rod... i spoke to the company and they’re willing for me to ship out my rod and receive a new one, but don’t all rods eventually get fractured from pressure when fishing? They said they’ll give me a discount on this rod if i wanted instead too. I just don’t wanna wait for a WHOLE new rod if it’s eventually gonna be like how it is after a few fishing trips
  2. @Bankc What’s the worm gear? i’m still fairly new lol, but is it that little hole on the bottom of the reel where the brakes are? And is that the lube port? lmao same, i showed my dad and then somehow it ended up on the floor
  3. So my new SLX XT combo came in today, thanks to everyone who helped me pick out my first combo. So when i first opened the reel, i fumbled it and dropped it and its a bit scratched up lol, but besides that will it be fine? Like will anything inside be misaligned etc. Also where is the lube ports and how many are there? How often should i clean it and how should i clean it/ how many drops of oil do i put? 1-2?
  4. Although hurricanes and storms are bad, i was wondering if fishes eat heavily after it happens... something to do when the power goes out right?
  5. yes, i would like your insight on which you would buy and does that one extra bearing make a difference?
  6. Sorry i have been asking so much about these two reels, but waiting for their restock has got me doing more research about the two reels. Do You prefer the SLX or SLX XT and besides the svs infinity system in the XT, what other features set it apart from the SLX? I know some people say for $30 it is not worth it, but i found a deal to get it for only $18.
  7. it’s only 18 more on AL that’s like the only reason i’m considering... i wouldn’t pay 30 more just for that tiny feature, but i get what you mean
  8. So as your saying i dont really need the slx even for lighter stuff like t rig worms and flukes? I mean im fine with saving a few bucks and spending it elsewhere like on lures and weights lol
  9. both lengths come with the same action/ power... i guess i’ll just get whatever is available first
  10. why would you pick the slx over the xt? i’ve heard only a few people say that
  11. oh makes sense, i would say i use a t rig “subsurface” 70% of the time so i guess a 7’2? and the other 30 is whatever i wanna experiment with like spinners, jerks, frogs, (lipless) cranks and so on the canals and lakes i bank fish have huge drop offs and it’s hard to fish down on the bottom because of it and large rocks... i barely can hop jigs/ribbon worms on the bottom without getting snagged
  12. i mainly fish like flukes, trick worms, stick baits and ribbon worms stuff like that... but why would a slightly bigger rod be better for mainly t rigs, but isn’t t rigs subsurface too? i’m kinda confused lol ah i agree with shorter being easier but does the 2 inches really make a difference, well for me i doubt i would really know since i’m a novice lol
  13. What length should i get for my first baitcaster it’s probably gonna be my only one for a while and i’m gonna use it mainly for T rigs and a little bit of everything else, mostly top water and subsurface, and what action?
  14. would a 7.2:1 and 7’2 MH be good as a versatile baitcaster... i’m gonna be throwing a little bit of everything but mostly T rigs like trick worms, flukes and etc
  15. thank you for the reply, i guess i’ll wait until it comes back in stock
  16. Is the XT worth the extra few bucks? because the XT is not in the retrieve i want and the rod size is not either... but in the SLX my retrieve is available and i can just get a 6’10 or 7’5 MH rod... does anyone know if the discount is year around or if i don’t get something soon i might miss out
  17. lol i dunno if your being serious about the ordering for too much part... but i’m waiting for the right reel and rod of the xt to be available hopefully the sale stays on until then
  18. okay so definitely gonna choose an slx now. the question now is SLX or SLX XT... once i get some input on both i will decide and wait until the rods are in stock .. also anyone know the spec difference between the two hard to find on their website besides the external brake control
  19. true that the slx combo is a steal plus the 10% off, but anyone have the slx and slx xt? i want to know if the xt combo is worth it. also is aluminum that much better?
  20. would you recommend LFS or SLX at the 99 price range?
  21. is the slx combo by american tackle a new rod and reel or is it used? If it is new, how do they sell it for so cheap? also what line do you recommend for it and lb strength
  22. do you think the slx xt is worth the extra 30? or the slx is good in itself i’m between the slx/slx xt/ mach 2/ crush any advice or opinions over one or the other will be appreciated
  23. i’m getting my first baitcaster... which combo would be better? i want a overall workhorse reel... i will be mostly fishing t rigs and occasionally jerkbaits/cranks/chatterbait/spinner bait since both would be around the same price range with the slx rod and reel or the lews mach crush combo which is better for durability and performance? also is the lews mach 2 better than both of these for its slightly cheaper price point?
