  1. I have 2 elites and 2 x’s. Can anyone give me feedback on the step up from the other legend sticks? They are already super light, and very sensitive. I have ags guides on two other rods so those don’t scare me much, but do they really make a difference? The blank is the exact same from elite/x to xtreme.
  2. I’ve got an xbites and tequila on the way to pair with a bottom contact 2 for this year. The itch has been scratched but the wallet is in pain. @OP Ive used a Brailist for the last two years if you have any questions let me know. It’s still going to be kept as a backup stick in case the BC2 has an accident.
  3. Great reel. Aluminum frame and side plates and fantastic pitching reel. The only Daiwa I’ve kept.
  4. I didn’t know they existed, but their stuff looks interesting. I hope they pull through and continue to make a good product.
  5. Beast Coast Fishing site wide 15% off with spring15.
  6. I use a Abu RevoX in the W model which is a 5 speed. It’s not light, but for $99 I’ve been absolutely floored by its fishing ability. I use it paired with a Daiwa BLX for deep cranking and heavy chatterbaits.
  7. Having the ability to change my leader to whatever pound test I want for each and every situation makes braid superior as a mainline. There are two situations I’ll use flouro as the only line. Deep cranking, and ultra finesse spinning gear in crystal clear water.
  8. I’ve used a 31HG for the last year and it handles the heavier baits fine. I wouldn’t throw a frog with it but I’ve muscled a good sized catfish with it after the stupid thing ate a Shakeyhead. I use mine for topwaters, jerks, and some bottom contact like small T rigs and Shakeyheads. It doesn’t bind up or feel weak even with the aluminum gearing and small handle.
  9. If you can find it, the 7’4” Daiwa BLX MH Limber Graphite is the perfect rod for this. It’s lure rating is 1/4 to 1-1/2 and I through my tactical DDs on it with no stress. It’s fantastic for everything in its weight range if it’s moving. It’s also extremely light, and has a 5 year warranty against defects. I fish tournaments from my kayak and this stick always has a place and a job to do.
  10. I own Mets in HG and XG speed as well as Bantams in the same. I do not own a Steez simply because their USDM and JDM prices are more than I’ll spend on a reel. To me the biggest difference between the Met and Bantam besides weight is the casting distance on lighter baits, and larger diameter line. You can almost go BFS on a Met, but the Bantam seems to choke the line a bit. It is very noticeable with thick line, less so with thinner. I beat my reels and none of my Mets are geary in the slightest. They are more “hollow” feeling than the Bantams, but that’s because of the material. In my mind, the JDM Met is the baseline for a fantastic workhorse reel. Has all the bells and whistles, and hovers around $280. Anything I consider purchasing has to stack up to the Met. New Zillions? At $320 on sale, nope. same with Bantams.
  11. I own the same rod, and 3/8ths isn’t too much for a T rig depending on water depth and cover. I love the softer tip section for pitching and roll casts. Depending on the trailer you can drop to a 1/4, but I usually step down the the 7’M for that weight. I usually roll with 15lb flouro or 50lb braid to leader. If you want to try braid to leader make sure you connection knot game is up to snuff. The Legend has small guides. A 1/2oz spinner bait is totally within the sticks wheelhouse. I use mine as a literal do it all. Buzz baits, jigs, t-rigs, big topwaters, 5 inch paddle tails, and the list goes on. When I’m setting up for a tournament my Legends 7’M, 7’MH, 7’4H are my Swiss Army knives.
  12. Bought a used stick, busted it and tried to see if I could get anything in terms of a discount on a new rod. From them it was never going to happen. I wouldn’t buy from Japan unless you’re totally fine with losing the money. I guess that counts with all fishing stuff.
  13. You can’t even send it back. If you purchase it outside of their dealer network it has zero warranty. I mean none. They will not even let you get a discount on a replacement if purchases used or from an unauthorized dealer. I know from experience.
  14. I’ve heard of but not ordered from them. Id stick to us retailers for the warranty. I crushed the tip of my perfect pitch in my truck door and they replaced it at no cost.
  15. Pick up the pitch and flip model. Match made in heaven.
  16. Thanks for the feedback! It’s often tough to judge a brand when they are smaller, glad you took the plunge and I’ll be ordering some bags at some point to test them.
  17. I really like this product. I ran a milk crate for a couple years and the tuff krate (when on sale) is worth every penny. Add some bungies to the top lid and tray and it never flops open. Plus it’s not heavy, and fits what I need. I’ve stuck some Gruv launchpads on top of mine as well which make swapping my most used lures easy and fast. I think kayak fishing has an issue with over priced junk. On the whole though there are good products if you know where to find them.
  18. I don’t have super heavy cover here in Tennessee, but I fish from a kayak and finding a shorter punching rod is tough. The Expride 7’3” extra heavy seems like the best fit but I love my Megabass sticks.
  19. Do you think you can punch with that stick? I’m looking at the Matt bucker as well.
  20. I fish a kayak club in watts bar and love the lake.
  21. It’s hard to say with gear in that $200 - $240 price range. It’s a hyper competitive market, and all the brands are trying to push their best tech down. The jury is still out on the victory line, from what I’ve used and felt they are solid choices with a few rods making the biggest splash. I think for a lot of us it’s waiting to see where everyone ends up after the price increases this year. If Shimano doesn’t raise the price of the Expride a ton of manufacturers will be left in the dust. I’m a St. Croix and Megabass guy through and through, but trying to convince myself a Levante is worth $20 less than an Expride is silly.
