  1. A quick googling doesn’t give me much. Looking at the stick it’s very similar in build to my Legend X spinning rod. Torzite is ~$200 dollars off the top, so the rest of the stick and components are roughly a hundred. If they still had the lifetime warranty I’d be willing to take a shot. As a heads up you can get Legend X and Elites on sale often for ~325 from a couple sites two or three times a year.
  2. I’ve eyed them for a couple years. Not being able to handle them in person is the only issue. I’m able to see most other models at local shops.
  3. I currently use a 7’4” BLX for these techniques and it shines, but it’s also my big crank stick and I want to free the two techniques from the same rod. The Legend Glass 7’2 H had me interested then the new LTB came out. I prefer more moderate tapers on my sticks other than my bottom contact 2 because I fish from a kayak. Something about a slower taper gives me a better hook to land ratio on both treble and single hook moving baits. It’s one of the reasons I’ve fallen in love with Megabass, they provide those actions and tapers in often times smaller packages.
  4. Not really better, but I fish in TN and we get some solid vegetation throughout the TVA system. I prefer the weedless freestyle since I know I’m not limited where I can throw it. If you normally aren’t worried about hanging up the regular version is the same great bait.
  5. 8/0 owner beast for me. Omnia has them in stock as well.
  6. What is the draw then for the older baits? Just limited quantities? I’d never throw a $100 topwater.
  7. I believe these were the jam before I got serious about bass fishing. Why are they so expensive now in the secondary market? Why haven’t they been cloned by every other brand like most successful baits? What did I miss a couple years ago?
  8. That particular model doesn’t say glass on the name or spreadsheet so I wasn’t sure if it was mixed. I guess you don’t own the Legend Glass to compare.
  9. Do you have any experience with the Legend Glass line specifically the 7’2” HM? I’m looking at a comparison between the Glass and LTB moderate tapers. I’m interested in LTB for 1/2 chatters, spinners and big traps. Is the LTB graphite, or a mix of glass/graphite?
  10. I wasn’t aware that was the standard smell of soft baits. Thank you for the information
  11. I’ll take a look at those in particular. The sunline and the fact magdrafts are on sale is just my jam.
  12. Not seeing good deals on much. What are the standouts to you? Im the minority, I have 10% sales tax so things need to be on pretty steep sales if they include tax to TN.
  13. I’ve picked up some really great packs of Roboworms and assorted softbaits but they smell strongly of a garage. Is there a way to safely remove that smell and restore a more normal bait scent?
  14. Reel seats are the same between the two models, so I wouldn’t expect much change in that area. The materials and weight will be better, but the jury is out on the new rods. I’d give it a few months before people you trust put in the time. Just my 2 cents, wait a minute and skip over the tourney bass line. St. Croix often goes on sale from a number of retailers in the 10-20% range. I’ve picked up all of my (4) legends at 20% or better. I swear by the legend elite and x models and for $350 they are nearly impossible to beat. 15 year warranty and they are super light and responsive. I have a legend elite 7’ medium paired with an shimano alde and it fishes incredible.
  15. Much lighter than an Orochi, but the jury is still out on sensitivity. I’ve only fished it one day and usually take a dozen or so trips to get a good feel for a rod.
  16. The second portion is what I focused on where he tested vibration transmission not just from the gear rotation.
  17. I’ve owned a number of St. Croixs and from my experience the XF has always had a slightly softer tip that hits backbone sooner. Think GLoomis XF but a much softer tip. The Legend line (X, Elite, Xtreme) the 7’1 MHXF is my go to skipping and swim jig rod. Considering the rigs you’re running on this I think both will work great. If you want an overall stiffer rod go MHF, if you’d like the tip to pitch or skip go XF. Whichever you choose keep us posted. I’m always interested in new rods and I don’t have a St. a roux dealer near me.
  18. There are enormous differences between the two reels. The body material is more rigid in the Met, and the tolerances are much tighter for all components. On another site a user measured the sound transmission of the Met and new Zillion and the data points to the rigidity may improve bite detection. This is an unbelievably small nudge but it’s neat to know the material does serve a benefit. You cannot use the Met in brackish or salt water. While it has a coating magnesium will corrode from salt water over time. The spool is better for a range of baits, I can throw 1/8oz shakey heads without issue on my Mets compared to my bantams and curados. The spacing of the line guide and spool allow a more smooth cast, unlike the bantam which is slightly choked. From a smoothness factor, they are night and day. Now the Curado isn’t a slouch, and by no means a bad reel but there is a reason the price is higher on the Met. Speaking of price if you’re interested in stepping into a Met I’d buy JDM. The reels both have brass gears and are the same body, and internally identical. The only difference is the handle on JDM reels is 84 or 86mm instead of 90 with slightly smaller knobs. The spool is also a 100 vs. 150 size JDM vs USDM. You can find a JDM Met new from reputable sellers for around $260 shipped. I own 5 JDM Mets and have been extremely pleased with them. I sold my USDM Curado DC, and Bantams to fund them and 100% would do it again.
  19. Irod makes a a great budget rod. While not super flashy their big bait sticks for punching and swimbaits are fantastic values. I’ve used both and while I moved to more enthusiast options those irods are tough to beat.
  20. He was getting up there in age and the younger guy who worked with him took over the shop. He didn’t look it since he didn’t have any grey but there were underlying health issues you could see if you spent enough time in the shop. I was stopping in there almost every week from April 2020 until recently as supply chain issues made buying almost anything difficult. There was at least one incident with an attempted robbery and other nonsense which I think had something to do with it as well. They are starting to carry Megabass rods and some higher end reels too. I picked up my Zillion from them, even though I ended up selling it a month later.
  21. Edgemoor recently changed ownership but it’s the same great shop. The family running it are awesome.
  22. They are so smooth. Have the right amount of heft and just feel great in hand. You won’t be disappointed, just be aware if you didn’t get the XG speed the handle and knobs will be different than you’re used to.
  23. The rod they sent is a better fit. I much prefer St. Croixs moderate taper over their MF. The MF is more a single hook reaction rod in my mind, even though it has a lighter low end. It’s worth keeping us updated on your thoughts on the rod over time.
  24. Expride gets my vote. The mod-fast taper is better suited to any treble baits and can double as a single hook stick as well. The MBR is too fast for trebles and you’d really be maxing it out at an oz. I’ve never thrown the crr, but as long as it’s not a bottom contact stick it’s worth a shot. In the same vein but cheaper the Phenix Feather 7’3XH is a solid choice. It says it’s rated to 3oz, really more like 1.75. I used one for a season for swimbaits and liked it.
  25. I exclusively buy JDM Shimano and Daiwa reels. The handle sizes have never mattered, and paying 260 vs. 440 for a Met is a no brainer. Spinning and casting reels and rods have always shown up as advertised and I will continue to buy from JDM sites. I can have all my reels serviced through numerous repair shops if I choose not to do my own maintenance. Just find one who can handle JDM gear, it’s super simple. The fact Shimano so rigidly try’s to stick to MAP pricing means smart shoppers look elsewhere. There was a 20% sale this last weekend at Summerland in GA and even with the 20% hitting Shimano the Met was still more than $130 over the JDM. I also live in a state with 10% sales tax. So sites lie TW are rarely if ever a significant deal.
