  1. How about Winn rod wrap? How about Winn rod wrap?
  2. The way I hold it achieves best rod reel balance on most of my combos, so I don’t really want to change....
  3. Recently I bought an Avid casting rod, and the locking nut is bringing me a lot discomfort. Because of the way I palm the reel, my index finger and middle finger are in direct contact of the threads of the locking nut, which is very uncomfortable. I am sure some of you guys have the same experience. Is there any modification available for this problem? thanks! I know I could change how I palm the reel, but.....
  4. thanks guys! I already had a tackle shop re-wrapped it. It's good as new I guess.
  5. Do you think I am better off taking it to a local tackle for a repair? I don’t have none of the epoxy or nail polish. How much do you think is a fair charge for complete repair?
  6. What do you mean by no on epoxy?
  7. Does it affect anything like making a cast if I don’t replace the guide? or I am fine with bending it back and seal it up?
  8. Received a brand new rod. The main guide is bent, a small piece of epoxy is cracked. Got a partial refund, so now I have to fix it myself. How should I do it? Thanks!
  9. Do you consider avid x an upgrade to the avid?
  10. do you feel the lure hit bottom in shallower water? You shouldn’t have a problem feeling it hit bottom in less than 15 feet of water with a sensitive rod like a helium 3. Deeper than 40 feet can be a different story. For me, feeling the lure hit bottom is one way to determine the sensitivity of a rod. That’s how I compare the sensitivity of different rods.
  11. When I need to compare two rods to see which one is more sensitive, I take them to the water, tie them to the same sinker weight, cast them back to back. The more sensitive rod should give you more feedback when its sinker hits the bottom. You can also test them at different depth to find out more. For example, Rod A and B can feel the same at 10ft of water, but at 40 ft B is muted when it’s sinker hit the bottom while A is still very responsive.
  12. I have searched the forum, but I can’t make up my mind. I have the Sierra 702sf and the Tatula elite 7’3mf, and I like them both, I am looking to upgrade one of them to the champion 703sf, but I can’t decide which one I will have to get rid of lol I’d love to hear what you think. Thanks!
  13. Excuse me, I love to dig the older threads. Can you elaborate how is the Tatula better than Sierra? Thanks!
  14. Just curious which fury and Tatula are you comparing? I helped my friend order the Tatula 7MF and the Fury 703 SF, both spinning rods, same length and power. I weighed both, and the Tatula is significantly lighter than the Fury. If my memory serves right, the Tatula was between 4-4.3 oz, and the fury was over 4.8oz.
  15. Wow are you saying the furys are as good as the Tatula elite?
  16. Can you name a few that don’t weigh over 4oz?
  17. I know expride is the solution. Wish I could do it all over again and expride everything.
  18. Why don’t you fish slack line presentations anymore?
  19. Maybe I just needed some reasons to upgrade my casting rods. what techniques require a sensitive casting rod? I have some decent spinning rods like the st croix avid 7MF, dobyns Sierra 700sf, 702sf, and Daiwa Tatula elite 7’3mxf for sensitivity. The casting rod I use the most is the dobyns fury 705cb for all my moving baits. After I listed my spinning rods, i realized maybe I am a finesse guy myself.
  20. Your posts are always inspirational, giving me a new perspective. Doesn’t matter if it is from 5 or 10 years ago! I almost got rid of my light heavy power rod because it’s a little tip heavy lol thank you!
  21. Hmm, do you think the Sierra is more sensitive?
  22. Between the 2 which one do you like better in terms of sensitivity and balance? Does the Tatula fish heavier than the Sierra?
  23. I made an impulse purchase, the Sierra 700SF ultra finesse. I don’t know what else I can throw other a Ned rig on this rod. The Rod is rated 1/16 to 5/16, and a weight less senko with a hook weighs 3/8. How would you make better use of the rod?
  24. I am not sure if I understand your statement correctly, but I have to disagree because my medium power 6’8 bass x is more sensitive with 1/8 oz Texas rig than my medium heavy 6’10 Tatula. I can simply feel more with the bass x . Also it is believed that the Tatula has a better blank and better guides than the bass X. So I think power does play a role in sensitivity.
  25. I bought this to replace my slx as a frog and punching reel. I was thinking about exchanging it for a 7.1 speed, but @Basswhole mentioned that the 7.1 does make the same noise intermittently, so for $65 I guess I have to put up with it?
